I hate cats

Boy is taoba, and boys are taobi

Girl is riña, and girls are riñi

Woman is abra, women are abri

Man is vala, men are vali

Fruit is gerpa, fruits are gerpi

But somehow, cats want to be different soooo bad. Keli is singular, and kela is plural. 🥲 (Disclaimer I don't really hate cats)

Yep, and it gets worse.

Kēlio: Cat's (possessive / genitive singular "of a cat / belonging to a cat")

BUT ALSO

Kēlio: Lion (singular)

Kēlia: Lions (plural)

Yeah I felt like that just demonstrated how fucking contrary cats can be. They will do exactly what they want to do and conjugate exactly how they want to conjugate.

Verbs conjugate, nouns decline. But maybe cats do conjugate their nouns just to be cats.

Grateful for this thread as this has always confused me, btw.

IIRC the word Keli is the name of David’s cat so he had to change the way the word worked to fit. Just think of it as the HV version of “ir”.

Ha. You know I never even noticed that -a ending words and -i ending words are exact opposites in the nominative. That’s hilarious.

Keli is the creator’s cat’s name. Hence the singular.
