The bracelet was created by Vilhelm Christesen and is made of silver using the intricate filigree technique, in which fine metal wires are worked into decorative patterns.

The piece was donated to the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna in 1879

Historical illustration depicting the Liechtenstein Hussars attacking the rear guard of the retreating Danish forces at Smedeby on 6 February 1864, during the Second Schleswig War.

The Liechtenstein Hussars were an Austrian cavalry regiment, serving in the Imperial Austrian Army. Despite their name, they were not troops of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The regiment was associated with the House of Liechtenstein, the princely dynasty that still rules Liechtenstein today.

The illustration was published in the German Illustrierte Zeitung, Vol. 42, No. 1080, on 12 March 1864, based on a drawing by the magazine's special artist August Beck.

An illustration by August Beck (1823–1872) depicting the Liechtenstein Hussars reconnoitring the withdrawal of Danish forces from Fredericia during the Second Schleswig War.

The regiment was named after Prince Franz of Liechtenstein, a member of the House of Liechtenstein, the same princely dynasty that continues to rule the present-day Principality of Liechtenstein. Although the hussars fought in Denmark as part of the Austrian Army, their name connects this illustration to the military history of Liechtenstein’s ruling family.

This photograph shows the house and architectural compound of Danish architect Erhard Lorenz (1913–1994) in Longacres, Lusaka, Zambia. Lorenz was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1913 and later built his professional career in Southern Africa.

Lorenz moved to Northern Rhodesia (present-day Zambia) in 1964, shortly before the country gained independence in 1964. He established his architectural practice in Lusaka and became involved in the development of modern architecture in the newly independent country.

His architectural practice, Lorenz & Pearce, worked on a wide range of projects in Zambia not everything was designed by Lorenz personally, but was carried out by his firm):

• Student hostels at the University of Zambia
• University Village, University of Zambia
• Vice-Chancellor’s House, University of Zambia
• Commonwealth African Regional Centre, University of Zambia
• School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Zambia

The building shown here was Lorenz’s own house and architectural compound in Longacres. The complex was designed from around 1965 and served several purposes: it was the family residence, housed Lorenz’s architectural office and included staff accommodation and a ceramics studio used by his wife, Bente Lorenz. The compound also provided a space where artists and sculptors could work and meet.
