I hate to say it, but I imagine that creating a pokestop there, while being held captive, was probably an attempt to bring attention to the island, and whoever did it, didn't think the Epstinkers would notice. I wonder when the stop was first created compared to the allegations

Ukraine has used AI powered drones extensively recently. The most notable use was during Operation Spiderweb. They used a Tu-22M3, which was displayed at the Poltava Museum of Long-Range and Strategic Aviation, to train AI drones to target the correct points on the aircraft to do the most damage to the airframe.
Those drones weren't fully 100% autonomous but fairly close, the operators just did the final attack run manually, but they probably could have had the AI do them, mostly successfully.

Oh, I'm sure that when you are fighting for your own survival, everything is fair game. I'm saying the dystopic future robot cops will probably never be autonamous because AI sucks way too much to do it alone. It's never going to not need a human hand to do it perfectly, and I'm fine with that. Humans should always be the ones taking lives, it should never be done automatically.

Not really terrifying, just practical.
One of the hardest parts of machine navigation is getting “truth” data or training information, that can only really be got from people.
It’s very costly gathering this, so if you can “game” the process so it’s fun, folks do it in their spare time.
It’s like the Captcha quizzes to see if you are a bot. The test is not clicking the right squares, it’s moving the mouse around like a human. Clicking the squares is just AI training data.
If you wanted to teach self-driving cars how to drive, all you would need is a road-facing camera and an internet connection.

Nothing is confirmed of course but the founder of Niantic has very deep ties to the CIA.
Look up John Hanke. He worked for the US Foreign Service. His first start-up, Keyhole, was funded by the CIA and the earth mapping tech was used in Iraq in the 2000s. Then Google eventually acquired the tech and made it into Google Earth.
The second start-up he created was Niantic which eventually created Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go was banned in several countries for potentially being a US spy tool.
The biggest red flag is that in 2025, John Hanke sold Niantic to the Saudis, just the game division of the company. He kept the geomapping technology and spun off into a separate company. Then in the same year, he announced a partnership with a defense contractor, using the same tech that Pokemon Go players helped train for 10 years.

It was made from the data players of the game Ingress submitted. Someone probably submitted a "portal" (potentially several) for that island when they were there. Essentially they were supposed to only be submitted where there were works of public art. It's those locations that were transformed into pokestops and gyms in PoGo.
Essentially Ingress was (openly) a geo data collecting exercise. The locations of various public works of art was valuable for a variety of reasons as was the pathways people would use going between them.

Stops and gyms are user submitted, and many of them were transfered over from ingress, a similar game. Some employee or frequent guest just wanted to play the game. Nothing weird at all, no conspiracy necessary.

Negative PR. You do realize that Epstein island was basically the Disneyland for Hollywood right? Thousands of people came to that island purely to vacation and have a good time, not to rape and eat children. Thats why we cant just ostracize/arrest anyone who's ever been to the island, there were tons of people who just went for the amusement, even going as far as to bring their own children to join in.
Basically there was a valid reason to have a poke stop on the island, once it came out there was still one there, they removed it. It was probably overlooked in the initial controversy as millions of poke stops exist. As for the info being deleted, it litterally doesn't effect anything as confirming who was on the island isnt a problem these days, its who was the guilty on the island that is the issue.

No, it is not a very big island. Little St. James is only about 70 acres with only a handful of villas. Basically a place that maybe 20 people could go at a time.
Not everyone was there to do terrible things, but it was not the sort of place that everyone in hollywood was going to.
The island is different than just appearing in his files- the files could be as dumb as epstien sending you fan mail, or trying to buy your used car off a FBMP listing (i know there was a celeb caught up in that due to a plane being sold). The island was a small club, the files are just anyone he ever contacted.
