Unsolved Direct connection?
I'm in Egypt and have a friend who's also in Egypt who wants to host game servers and play via Virtual VPN's (like Zerotier) the thing is, His ISP is WE while mine is Vodafone, even though we're about 350 meters apart, when either of us hosts ping is at 70-80 ms, I traced the traffic using CMD, and it shows that it goes through a weird detour, it first starts in Egypt, then goes to Marseille France, and then comes back to his ISP, and then to his IP (which he might be behind CGNAT).
Is having the same ISP gonna fix this? Our download and upload speeds are fine, I just don't understand why it is taking that route.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm very much new to this.

If Zerotier is in Marseille, then you can't fix this. Traffic goes to the VPN and back.

That's the thing, I tried Hamachi, Radmin, Tailscale, and a bunch of other virtual VPN's, they all exhibit the same behavior.

that is because the all are not in the same country as you you can't break the laws of physics

A long shot but are you within line of sight of each other? In that case, you can get a point-to-point wifi bridge. No NAT, no reroutes, no VPN but the line of sight is required. 350m distance is not an issue.
All that said, being both on the same ISP might help but no guarantee.

Using the same ISP would likely help, assuming the game makes direct connections. It is likely the two ISPs do not peer locally and traffic between them has to go via their upstream backbone connections.
You could also try to skip the Internet, and find a way to make a direct connection to bridge your LANs, but that would require some advanced technical skills and would depend on what is physically between your two locations.
