High School Math—Pending OP Reply [Grade 11 Math]
Trying to help my daughter with an investigation but I genuinely have no clue. For the first question I got that the Eiffel Tower is 330m tall.

It's a trignometric question using angles and heights. Make triangles for both the conditions and label whatever is given on the question and its just trignometry after that. If your daughter knows her sin cos tan then it should be easy with the figures

Part 1:
1.08 * sin(17 degrees) = 0.31576 = 316 meters
Part 3: Just divide 1.08 km by 5 km/hr
1.08 km / (5 km/hr) =>
2.16 km / (10 km/hr) =>
0.216 hour
0.216 hours * 60 min/hour =>
2.16 * 6 minutes =>
12.96 minutes
0.96 minutes * 60 seconds/minute =>
9.6 * 6 seconds =>
57.6 seconds
12 minutes 57.6 seconds after she starts walking.
Now the last one puzzles me a bit. It seems like it's saying that there's a slope of -0.9 from the top of the the tower to her eyeline, if I'm reading that correctly. And if that's the case, then we can say that there's a slope of 0.9 from her eyeline to the top of the tower. And if that's the case, then we can say that tan(t) = 0.9 and t = arctan(0.9) = 41.987 degrees
What we really need is to find when 1.08 * sin(17) / (1.08 - d) = 0.9. That's because 1.08 * sin(17) gives us the height of the triangle and 1.08 - d gives us the base, while the ratio of height to base gives us 0.9. d is the distance she walked from her starting point.
1.08 * sin(17) = 1.08 * 0.9 - 0.9 * d
0.9 * d = 1.08 * (0.9 - sin(17)
d = 1.2 * (0.9 - sin(17))
d = 0.72915
She had walked 729.15 meters at that point. Call it 729. That's if I'm reading that question correctly.
