CB900rr

Not sure if this is where to ask, a friend has a ‘98 CB900rr (US Version, 919 engine) that I’m thinking of picking up, has 18k miles on it, but has sat for 10 years. I would trailer it and then fix it up. I’m told it’s stock, with original fairings, etc. He’s thinking on price ($1600-2kish). But what kind of investment am I looking at after 10 years? It was running at time of parking it on his garage…

If it doesn't run $800 to $1k Depending on it not being all F'd up. Meaning Fairings not busted, seat not torn and bike not rusty. Kept inside.

I assume it’s not running. You need to find out what it needs and not spend money on something that’s beyond help. Seized engine, etc. I agree $800-$1000 for not running. Also like others mentioned- was it outside? (If it was you must pass on it)
Is there a clean title in their possession? Are you mechanically capable and with the tools to”fix it up”?
There are a lot of motorcycles for sale that are running in the $2K to $2500 range.
Just maybe they’re looking for someone to take this headache off their hands.

Clean title, been garaged, was running but hasn’t ridden… 🤷🏻‍♂️ not in a rush, testing the waters of this would be a good project bike… ty all for the insights and input!! 🙂
