A big obstacle to “post-racial” society is self-alienating minorities who blame everyone else for their own bigotry

A lot of people who aren’t white mainly feel comfortable with people of their own race, and this leads them to alienating themselves in places where they’re not the majority.

But because they believe they can’t be bigoted, they think it’s everyone else’s fault.

As a result, integration is more difficult.

I mean that’s just the byproduct of racism, idk what anyone expected tbh. But also I think naturally people prefer familiarity.

1

u/Famous-Lead5216 3h ago

Familiarity is MUCH different than racism. Prefgering to interact with people who you share a lot of commonalities with is in a different universe than shooting people in a well known black church.

We aren’t living in a post racial society, that’s the problem.

23

u/Lysmerry 8h ago

Hate used to be direct, but now it is more neurotic. Not that there went always conspiracies but you would actually see and interact with the ethnic group you disliked, now you generate AI images of them stealing your girlfriend and taking your job and work yourself into a frothing rage.

6

u/True-Anim0sity 5h ago

Nah, im pretty sure the main issue isnt fake images or events but real crimes and past historic events at different rates...

Yeah but blaming current people by their skin color for past crimes is also racist. They have only skin color similar to them.

How about some civil behavior and not personal hateful verbal attacks for someone respectfully stating an opinion..? You can do better than that.

Did you miss their response to OP?

OP is a bot?

4

u/Deckorz 5h ago

The gerrymandering going on is atrocious. But I don't see what that has to do with what OP said. I think you're part of the problem. You can't have honest discussions when you huff and puff and hurl accusations of racism at anything you don't like.

1

u/jdhkent 3h ago

There’s a line of thought that the historically oppressed cannot be racist.

And it’s obviously untrue. However, the racism from Oppressors is a little more important.

u/Ready_Economist_4914 5h ago

Edit: OP is absolutely spot on. YOU are the idiot.

We were pretty much there in the 90s...then some drifting got kicked into overdrive about 2013...

We almost did until occupy Wall Street happened and they seen the populace banding together against the elite so they started massively funding and pushing movements like blm and gender groups to cause division and get away from the real problem.

Edit: What people dont know is they actually did it during occupy, I know people who were there and they said all of a sudden groups came in trying to split people up by race, they were decently funded groups and acted pretty forceful in their push. It's actually what stopped the whole movement, these groups were the precursors for blm just in a very small scale.

4

u/fuck-them-hoes 7h ago

Was blm the issue or a response to another issue?

5

u/LysolSaw 7h ago

Only a certain subset of people were bothered by BLM. It's unfortunate the founders of the movement turned out to be shady, though.

2

u/Imaginary_Poetry_233 59m ago

You mean people that didn't like the racial attacks on random white people by BLM? Those people?

1

u/LysolSaw 33m ago

Do you have proof of this or is it just anecdotes and feels? White persecution complexes are dumb as hell! Get off the cross, babe. We can use the wood.

2

u/BeautifulWay2881 11m ago

People like you are scum, Im not that person but during blm there were so many videos of random attacks on White people just because they were White, guess what reddit did ban all of it.

here's some video tho, most were banned during the woke era

https://x.com/DrewHLive/status/1296051868343271432

https://nypost.com/2020/08/26/elderly-man-defending-store-during-kenosha-riots-has-jaw-broken/

the second one in the full video you can see people make racial comments to the old guy because hes White all he was doing is standing in front of his store.

1

u/Imaginary_Poetry_233 2m ago

Thank you. I wasn't going to bother, because I knew most of the proof would have been sanitized from the internet. But their denials won't make us forget how awful it was.

1

u/LysolSaw 2m ago

The poor guy should've stayed inside locked his door and minded his business!

So since you're indulging in your white persecution complex, besides this man have white people started being oppressed, not only personally, but systemically? That was pretty bad, but this is a single incident. You're also using the nypost which is notorious for lying to suit their point, they clearly didn't have to lie here since there's video proof, but white people as a collective are just fine. They got to storm the capital, get arrested, then get pardoned. They also doubled down with the racial grievances by electing Trump twice. I'm sorry it's not that great to be a white guy anymore. Go talk to the violent, racist white men running shit, not me.

it was not a real issue, even during occupy Wall Street when it was gaining traction a bunch of groups magically came in starting to split people up by race, these groups were funded by the same people occupy was against.

2

u/BinFace4UK 7h ago

Both

2

u/SeimaDensetsu 2h ago

Glad someone remembers this. The surge in identity politics was a direct reaction to masses of unified people actually posing a threat. The easiest way to dismantle it was to sow discontent and turn the unified people into factions all trying to race to the bottom of who has been the most put out.

Progressive stack, privilege rhetoric, dismissal of ideas regardless of merit because of the lips that uttered them… it was all an operation and society has never recovered.

2

u/ProfessionalClue2861 49m ago

There's a chart showing mentions of racism in MSM articles, it was consistent for a long time and spiked super hard exactly when occupy happened.

Really sucks too, the right and left were both coming towards the same conclusions about billionaires only for culture ware issues to take over. The left had Occupy, the right had the Tea Party. Both got hit with agent provocateurs. Occupy is mostly treated as evil hippies/clueless lefties because of a few isolated incidents out of tens of thousands of people. Tea Party is treated as racist boomers because some news broadcast found one guy screaming racist shit at a giant event. Convenient (for the elite) that both disappeared at the same time.

1

u/BeautifulWay2881 9m ago

It's actually insane, all the evidence is clear.

3

u/grand_grumpus 7h ago

The elite did not push blm. And what do you mean by gender groups?

1

u/Thin-Character-6996 7h ago

They didnt push the initial movement, but they co-opted it.

1

u/BeautifulWay2881 6h ago

No they didnt even co opt it they funded it from the start, look at the books its clear.

1

u/Imaginary_Poetry_233 43m ago

And blackmailed all the corporations of America into 'donating' millions of dollars each to the cause. It was on all their websites, like a protective amulet against elite retribution. No one was immune, not even Walmart.

1

u/BeautifulWay2881 6h ago

The elite 100% funded blm from the start, in fact the ground work started during occupy Wall Street for this purpose, all the evidence showed this.

4

u/shiny_crow_trophy 6h ago

Then the evidence should be easy to supply, to support your claim.

1

u/BeautifulWay2881 6h ago

I know people who were there and made another comment on exactly what happened already below.

3

u/shiny_crow_trophy 6h ago

And why do people who aren’t white feel mostly comfortable with their own race?

In my country, Aotearoa/New Zealand, Māori children grow up learning from their grandparents about having their language beaten out of them at school. African American children grow up learning tales of segregation.

Yes, the issue you identify inhibits integration. But it’s not minority groups’ fault

7

u/Real-Alternative-315 7h ago

I would argue everyone feels more comfortable with others of their own race. Most people don’t have animosity toward other races, but people want to see people that look/act/think like themselves.

That’s kind of the entire argument for diversity in new media. Get more people to relate to characters because they look/act/think like themselves.

12

u/BakersHigh 7h ago edited 7h ago

Not to mention this is taking a stance as if white people do not feel most comfortable around white people.

White people have historically removed themselves from being part of a racial diverse community because they do not want to be around non whites. Suburbs in America were started for them to get away from the inner city.

Literally a whole phenomenon called White flight named after them moving out of neighborhoods once they began to accept Black people.

In places on the west coast you are still largely segregated. Mainly by wealth. But we know how socioeconomic and race go hand in hand, so one can argue while LA is racially diverse it is still heavily segregated.

Minorities aren’t the only ones. Actually in some spaces people would argue minorities are trying too hard to be at the same spaces/ areas as White folks who don’t want us

let’s stop acting as tho, White peopke do not also self segregate. During Trump administration you have people moving from “blue” states to “red” states… which again is a form of self segregation.

1

u/GalaXion24 6h ago

I mean you can blame minorities like me for the lack of post-racial utopia all you want. I'm 30 and grew up in New Jersey yet when I was in elementary school, my first grade teacher segregated the class by race and lowered the grades of the gross black and mixed kids. That teacher wasn't a minority.

When I was a young adult making a road trip to Florida, driving on a highway at the side of a mountain, a couple of hillbillies in a truck drove beside us. They cheerfully made monkey noises and weaved their truck so me and my mom would think they were going to kill us by driving us off the road. My baby siblings being in the backseat didn't deter them. Those hillbillies weren't minorities.

When Obama was elected, it wasn't minorities who hung effigies from nooses on their lawns.

Under every single video on YouTube where black people are acting crazy, it's not minorities flooding the comments with racist garbage. Meanwhile, the videos of white people acting the exact same way don't have anything race related in the comments. It's almost like minorities aren't as obsessed with spreading anti-white racism. Hm. Odd.

There aren't minorities hopping on a recent trend to run around in public and shouting in people's faces, targeting them based on race because they know other people who share their skintone will donate thousands in pure appreciation.

Minorities aren't the ones popping flags on their trucks that represent minorities fighting for their right to enslave and rape white children. (Confederate flag for any non-American reading)

Minorities didn't drop a bomb on Nigeria this past Christmas just for the vibes as it wasn't a military or terrorist outpost.

Minorities aren't erasing white ww2 soldiers from historical archives, citing nothing but "warrior culture" as a reason. Double shout out to Pete Hegseth.

Most white people are normal people, but to blame all the racial tension in America on "minorities" (literally everyone who isn't white) is delusional and pathetic. You might as well say the sky is black and yellow polka dotted.

10

u/WaffleConeDX 4h ago

Not to mention most of our parents and grandparents lived in a non "post racial" society. They talked to use a lot about what they've seen and been through. My mother can tell you all about the crack epidemic and war on drugs that disproportionately affected black communities despite white people being advent users as well. My grandmother was a teen when MLK was alive and then assassinated. Ruby Bridges is still alive when she was berated by white adults for attending a school. Those things dont just erase from memory or families.

The fact that you have to explain to white people what your experience have been like and other instances is proof we have never been close to a post racial society. Your experiences are no different mine. We are close in age and I'm sure we could spend hours swapping war stories of racism we were forced to endure. My earliest memory (and when I started to realize things were off) was from age 9. I would cite much of what you have as well. Racism is always prevelant. White people just get to decide when it is an acceptable level or not.

u/Insightful21 6h ago

u/Separate_Welder_682 3h ago

Why do you think we feel more comfortable with people of our own race though?

Every black woman including myself at my office has been bullied by our white female supervisors and colleagues.  They don’t like us, and they don’t hide it.  We stick together because we have shared experiences and because the white women at work are not accepting us into their cliques.

As an aside I’ve had very few negative experiences with white men at my office.  It’s the women and they pick on black women specifically.  They did this in school too.

We self segregate to self protect.   There are a couple of white women who are allies at my office and they are a part of our group though.  We love them and defend them just like they do us.

-4

u/LiaSunwolf3 7h ago

And black women don't like white women and show it by bullying as well. It definitely goes both ways. Stop acting like one is worse than the other. This thinking is what perpetuates racism and ALL colors of people are guilty of it.

It would help if the culture would make real attempts to fully remove the systemic barriers in place and hopefully couple removing them with some form of reparations in order to at least have a bare minimum attempt to make up for their existence for so long.

And I'm saying this as a generic white guy who lives in the South. School taught us that racism is over, but then immediately it never took 5 minutes to find yet another pathetic bigot throwing the hard-R N-word around like it's going out of style, in just about every age cohort. And it doesn't take but a casual glance at stats on the differences the different races have economically, educationally, and politically in order to see that the playing field hasn't ever been equal, even with programs the bigots like to complain about like Affirmative Action.

I'm not gonna be mad at people not wanting to integrate with me because I'm a white dude. People have preferences and I understand that historically white people have SUCKED and honestly still do for some races on a generalization level. I get it's a form of "racism" (I struggle to call it that since I'm not experiencing any systemic barriers by someone of another race choosing not to associate with me, I'm just losing the potential for a friend, which sucks but it is what it is), but it's mostly justified. The onus is on me to not be a dipshit about it.

4

u/Serious_Accident1156 7h ago

The problem though comes in the form of hiring.

A white hiring manager doesn't like blacks? Racist.

A black hiring manager not liking whites? That's okay apparently

7

u/Dddddd92 7h ago

Neither are ok..... do you even work in a proper place? Hiring is a point based system where I work.

2

u/ROU_Misophist 6h ago

Deloitte just paid 21 million to the feds for discriminating against white male applicants. I know progressives like to pretend it never happened, but for years corporations were proudly publishing quotas for how many women and minorities they wanted to hire. They also tied management compensation to hitting those quotas.

4

u/Dddddd92 6h ago

"Deloitte paid $21.5 million to settle federal allegations that its DEI practices unlawfully considered race and sex in employment decisions; it did not admit liability"

They weren't found liable. They settled. I know you think this is some gotcha but the allegations were not proven.

2

u/LysolSaw 7h ago

Do you have a article to back this up? Or purely anecdotal? And do you think white people don't engage in the same hiring practices???

2

u/Insightful21 6h ago

Article: His ass

1

u/Justin27M 3h ago

Except that's not what's happening? DEI initiatives just said that the government or other hiring bodies had to post their job listings in locations with diverse populations and were force to ENTERTAIN the idea of hiring a nonwhite applicant. It was the most fangless form of policy to fix the hiring discrepancy that could have existed.

Hiring managers were still turning away nonwhite applicants for nebulous reasons under it.

Johnson’s great society had more welfare programs go to White Americans than Black Americans. How is it reparations when everyone had equal access to the protections and programs?

And literally none of the things you listed are reparations most were just programs to poorly address hiring disparities not based on merit. If you think it’s reparations to counteract bigotry in hiring practices, idk how you can suggest you have a strong grasp on what’s racist and what’s not

Confirmation bias is always going to lead you preferring to be around those similar to you.

What we need to work on is not penalising those who aren’t similar to us in society by restricting their access to things: employment, education, social spaces, respect, law, medical care etc.

Once we’ve worked that out thoroughly (which we haven’t, and is still very much a work in progress) we can talk more about the nuances. I’m saying this as a white woman.

2

u/aciedc 7h ago

we are nowhere near a "post racial" society?? racial tensions and government overreach are at an insane point, i'd wager the worst it's been since the jim crow era. you expect the victims here to be reaching out, stepping out of the limited protections of their community, to fix the racism they're suffering from?

This is messed up & white people have done some messed up stuff, like colonizing a chuck of the planet, & I say this as a half white person. It’s not like those criticisms aren’t unfounded, you’re just made that in a digital age, it’s much easier to show you the receipts.

2

u/Mindless-Shirt-2030 6h ago

Um you ever think about what it’s like to be a minority in a white space? It can be dangerous. White men murdered Nolan Mills they were supposedly his friends, and nobody is being charged. As a matter of fact their piece of shit families are trying to intimidate his mother from pushing for an investigation by trying to take her medical license. More than a dozen of black people have been found hanging in the South in places it’s not even possible to be a suicide yet it’s still being ruled a suicide. Most women don’t go around a bunch of guys because it’s not safe and a lot of black people don’t feel safe in white spaces.  I am white and I don’t blame them.

2

u/HotTree6235 6h ago

I dunno, I think the biggest obstacle to a post racial society is the majority race being like 30-50% racist, maybe more.

2

u/BernieArt 5h ago

You can't call this a "post-racial" society when that society chose a literal criminal so they didn't have to vote for a black woman.

2

u/Educational_Bee955 4h ago

Yeah well we really aren’t that integrated. And one has to be living in a bubble to have this take. We still have a long time to go in order to have a post racial society and minorities have valid reasons to not trust white people. The ppl who created racism need to dismantle it. Period. But they wont bc they benefit from it. And ppl like you pretending to be “if we all just get along” are missing the plot and dont really care. You just want ppl to shut up and be ok with oppression.

Ppl feel comfortable in proximity. Whites didnt want minorities in their areas and push and force them into their own areas. Be serious. Even today in suburbs they will move out if minorities move in. So stop the bs of minorities segregating themselves. 🙄🙄🙄

Ruby Bridges risked her life integrating. And many others.

Literally ppl whowont sell or rent to minorities and many banks today still getting caught giving MINORITIES higher interest and or rejecting loans. Tired of ppl saying why dont why dont. Bc the majority power doesnt want it. Complain to them and about them. Not the victims of their abuse.

"The people that created racism" You mean humans?  Fucking idiot. Y'all literally just want to blame white people for all your problems. Cry harder.

1

u/SatansScallion 4h ago edited 4h ago

Keep wallowing in that victimhood, sista.

But don’t be a coward — come out and say you’re a grievance-obsessed, anti-white racist who genuinely thinks she’s obsessed in 2026 America.

Easier to blame everyone else than take any degree of accountability.

Thinking you’re oppressed is such a cartoonishly uneducated take, lol.

Hey guys I know we’ve genocided, enslaved and continue to discriminate against you but I think you need to feel more comfortable around us so that we can stop discriminating against you.

5

u/Grimm-n-Gorey 10h ago

Oil & Water. You will always end up with ghettos because, regardless of what narrative the media wants to push, the majority of people are more comfortable mingling with people the same creed & colour.

10

u/sydthecoderkid 9h ago

Ghettos are the result of poverty. You don’t tend to see diverse trailer parks, either.

5

u/IdeallyIdeally 9h ago

There are ghettos in mono-ethnic societies too. Ghettos are more about economic inequality than just people wanting to be comfortable with people of the same colour.

Yes, it's the minorities' fault. It isn't the racist culture or the racists who perpetuate it. No, it

is these minorities who are causing all the problems.

What crap.

1

u/User_-_-_Name 8h ago

Everyone feels more comfortable around people that look like them, including white people.

This isn't a completely ridiculous thought, but it's very poorly formed and too one way.

Everyone no matter your skin color, being kind and welcoming to everyone else, is what you want, not one race pretending to be another to fit in.

1

u/Remarkable-Fly-9082 7h ago

Not gonna lie this is a very nuanced and academic sociological issue and I did a double take seeing it in a thread for a podcast lol.

1

u/Alive_League1680 6h ago

Big flaw in this reasoning (and a bit of a red flag) is that “white” immigrants are also like this.

1

u/bismark_dindu_nuffin 6h ago

And? What are we going to do about it? Denounce self determination and freedom of association?

In the past people would be forced into integrating into the social fabric with overwhelming religious peer pressure. But we're post religion as well.

We've gone into this multicultural neoliberal experiment after dismantling every other tool of social control. Endless balkanization awaits us unless we use the last tool: overwhelming state violence.

1

u/Used-Sound3141 6h ago

No such thing as a post racial society. Fuck off.

1

u/ZeeWingCommander 5h ago

When I was in college my group of friends were really mixed, every race and religion. I used to look at other groups and it was like all Asian, all black etc.

1

u/NoMoreVillains 5h ago

No, I don't think a "big obstacle" is a minority of people among minorities. I think the big obstacle is pretty clear and it's not the racial minorities who wish we lived in such a society...

Those are no different than the klan that everyone keeps talking about.

Is integration your nice way of saying assimilation, or..?

1

u/HamasKilledShaniLouk 4h ago

And the race drifters fanning the flames, making stuff up, and advocating for solutions in need of problems.

1

u/blehmag 4h ago

I don't think so. There are some people who share interests and lifestyles with people of their own race and stay more in their community, but I've only seen that in places where the racial atmosphere and segregation is hostile, like the Northeastern US for example. Everyone is just trying to protect themselves.

When I go to places like Houston for example, yes everyone has their own communities too, but their networks are often diverse with a very open culture

1

u/Sad-Fault-531 3h ago

You don’t have self-alienation by race in spaces where minorities feel safe or supported.

Racists don’t identify themselves as racist to minorities before they inflict harm. And the white people who aren’t racists don’t always want to or don’t always know how to intervene when they witness racism. All that does is put minorities in a space where they don’t know who they can trust and who they should avoid.

Proper integration takes generations of effort, but instead of embracing or at least allowing it, generations of white people intentionally found ways to drag their feet and exclude minorities from their neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools. And when minorities find their way into these spaces anyway, they often had to worry about discrimination, hostility, or the pressure to justify their humanity.

1

u/Wild-Display-765 3h ago

I’m white so I’ve never experience what it’s like to walk in their shoes. If I were black I’d stay in my community and as far away from white people as I could. Give them grace and let them do as they want. They don’t owe us anything.

1

u/SuidAfrikaDidNoWrong 3h ago

A big obstacle is continued replacement migration.

1

1

u/Wild-Display-765 3h ago

I don’t trust a 2 month old account that hides their reddit history. This person keeps posting the same shit about black people and using a different angle to show how black people are doing everything wrong. Get some help son.

1

u/Forsaken-Pomelo-9401 3h ago

I disagree completely. We can’t self isolate because we live in the real world. And mind you, integration isn’t always the best thing for minorities it’s actually a bigger benefit to white ppl and their psyche. Than minorities. Who have no problem with integration to begin with. But do have a problem with being treated like we are 2nd class citizens in the same spaces or like our white counterparts are doing us a favor bc we’re in the same space.  Also why are you concerned with integration we are already integrated. Is this a metaphor for you? I really wonder what your background is, honestly. No minority can create any space just for ourselves without whites wanting to pull up. So what are you even talking about. This is literally everything. From parties to hbcu’s, somebody randomly my wants to pull up. And I feel like you’re talking about black ppl since Asian Americans tend to have a very different outlook on white people and white adjacency. Mind you any neighborhoods that are predominantly one minority were usually neighborhoods white abandoned and suddenly wanted to return to wat after it was established as a black or Chinese or any other neighborhood. Most things are the way they are bc of white pol. Literally. It just is true. And that’s just facts, sorry. But if poll so choose yo try to isolate its bc those who hold theee bullshot opinions are a nuisance to our nervous system. Who is still talking about post-racial society after two trump terms be for real.

1

u/Forsaken-Pomelo-9401 3h ago

“A lot of people that aren’t white” feel more comfortable with our own races bc we don’t want to hear this dumb shit. But to be fair each race has its own Opp. And you might be one. I can’t assume your from the caucus mountains. Although it really sounds like it.

1

u/Totemguy 3h ago

If I got extra score points and a better place at the table, sure I'd keep blaming everyone else.

1

u/Clone043 3h ago

White people on average have the least in group bias black people on average have the most. IN AMERICA need to specify that

1

u/InterviewDizzy1649 3h ago

True. White people have the lowest in group preference

1

u/EricDravensGuitar 3h ago

Are you white?

1

u/Silly-Elderberry-411 3h ago

I don't think the take is honest or hot. I work in international customer service yet due to quality control we only provide support in the three official belgian languages and English. There is a metric ton of Spanish, polish and Russian people I met over the years demanding we provide assistance in their language.

It is beyond laughable to exempt white people from bigotry by claiming they are post racial. Half of Europe not only hasn't become postracial they barely tolerate their own neighbors.

Then the other half. Brits complaining people speak Spanish in Spain, and so on.

1

u/Famous-Lead5216 2h ago

No one ever gives minorities a seat at the table or asks us what we need or what see as the issue. White people are still making decisions for us as if we have no agency. Our input is not worth being heard on the issues we experience. Ironic.

1

u/sharp-Yarn 2h ago

Lmao, it's called 'white flight' not the minorities.

1

u/BobbyBaal 2h ago

In my lifetime, there have been schools that straight outlawed mix couple prom dates, no mixed couples on tv, golf courses denying minorities and women, gov officials abs militias stopping the construction of mosques, race based stop and frisk, ICE, militarization against crack but gov programs and lawsuits to support opioids, red lining, sundown towns, gerrymandering, a whole current political party hostile to minorities, massive influencer base calling everyone DEIs.

Yeah, you're right. It's the minorities fault. Pretty standard position for people like you.

1

u/tes_befil 2h ago

What your missing is that race was never actually meant to be equal. Race is only a topic right now because the elites can use it to keep people occupied (mostly poor people) while society degrades and lets the individuals place blame elsewhere rather than on the government.

Inequalities still exist in society but nothing like before. Every race is capable of getting out of poverty, getting education and owning property. However racial attitudes are worse now than 15-20 years ago both within racial groups and outside and this is due to government and media manipulation.

So our amazing government and media, who are completely capable of understanding and fixing any racial inequalities do not do this and instead they create tons of race baiting content. The result of the system is always the purpose, so what you see of society right now is what our government and leaders intend for it to be.

1

u/blkpole 2h ago

We have never lived in a post-racial society in America , you dipshit.

1

u/No-Fuckin-Ziti 2h ago

There are a lot of very incorrect assumptions and projections here that would need to be untangled before coming anywhere close to addressing any one of the issues involved. You gotta get out more.

1

u/Sharp-Loss-387 2h ago

Just like you, we can tell when we're not welcome in a place or situation, and avoid those, but the large percentage of ailenation comes from hundreds of years of actual bigotry where it was made clear that we're not welcome. That's not reverse bigotry. It's survival.

1

u/KlutzySel 2h ago

This topic was created in bad faith based off the first sentence alone.

1

u/Nofanta 2h ago

Nonsense. They can do no wrong. It’s always someone else’s fault.

1

u/RashesToRashes 1h ago

I've been trying to tell people this for a minute.

FWIW, I'm am a black American.

I personally think black people are the worst when it comes to this. I have seen some of the most incredibly hate-filled bigotry come out of black peoples' mouths, especially toward white people, only to be covered by "white people can't experience racism" and "I'm owed something because of history".

And yet these are the same people who perpetuate the actions that are holding four communities in squalor, and refusing to take accountability for things that WE actually do.

That part has always blown my mind... It's the same way accountability works in any other situation. If a kid grows up in a terrible home with awful parents, then they have trauma etc and that's one thing. If that child gross to adulthood and then becomes serial killer or a rapist, then at that point, the fault and blame lies with them, not just their upbringing, because THEY we're then responsible for making changes in getting help.

We can still place blame on their upbringing, but an individual's actions are still accounted to them if they didn't get help for it.

1

u/GigglingEvil 1h ago

Wut, m8?

1

u/Elderberrygin 1h ago

Yes, this is very true. White conservatives really have got to stop alienating themselves and learn to live in the society we have, not their fantasy worlds where they are a majority.

1

u/PaleolithicRegency33 1h ago

self-alienating minorities ✅

who blame everyone else for their own bigotry ❌

1

u/ItsAHerby 1h ago

Lmao, imagine having the take that what's stopping us from a post-racial society are the minorities.

1

u/anomalyknight 59m ago

A lot of people who aren’t white mainly feel comfortable with people of their own race, and this leads them to alienating themselves in places where they’re not the majority.

It is incredibly disingenuous to make statements like this without examining and including the context surrounding these behaviors. Someone else in the comments mentioned Dylan Roof, and I would like to remind the OP that Roof openly admitted that members of the black church he shot up were so welcoming towards him that he briefly considered changing his mind about the mass murder he'd planned to commit that day, before ultimately deciding to stick to that plan.

It's not that strict, exclusive tribalism doesn't have its negatives or that it doesn't cause major issues for social progress, but it is deeply disrespectful and unhelpful to ignore that some of these same communities have been seriously burned before by attempts at inclusion and integration. You cannot force a way forward by selectively ignoring repeated injustice.

1

u/treesarealive777 7h ago

Its actually the people responsible for enslaving a race of people and suppressing them via laws, violence, and the media.

It isnt on the victims to make nice with the abusers.

Im white, but the older I get, the more disgusted I am with how white people use their own views on race to justify their behaviors while villianizing others.

I'm not reading the rest of the comments on this thread, but this is such an abusers mindset to take.

Just because slavery legally ended, doesnt mean that we have addressed the harm caused. Even after slavery, the country was destroying black neighborhoods and towns.

White people have actively barred black people from education.

Get over your victim complex. Even if you yourself are not racist, racism persists because people turn a blind eye to it and casually justify it or tell us to ignore it.

1

u/Expensive_Cry_5069 6h ago

As if historically no other groups of people ever did what you're describing. Sorry to break it to you, but in the grand arc of history everyone has been a victim and a perpetrator. To me, it sounds like you're just making excuses for why minority groups are allowed to be racist aholes.

1

u/Logical_Contact2946 4h ago

Yes there is a lot of tribalism and stupidity in certain groups (look at the types of comments/posts in subreddits like blackpeopletwitter for example).

Funny enough these people will say “I don’t feel safe” even though statistically they are much safer with the groups they hate.

1

u/keysandchange 6h ago

So what is this sub, “here’s how I justify my bigotry and why I feel my white privilege just isn’t enough! Wah!”?

1

u/nomodcanstopme 4h ago

nobody is holding down the black community but the black community.
