👋Welcome to r/horrorcore - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone! I'm Er1ka, a founding moderator of r/horrorcore . This genre is like my child. I have supported this genre for over 20 years and have worked with many artists. If you know who I am, whaddupdoe?

This is our new home for all things HORRORCORE!

📌What to Post: Horrorcore related music. Your collection of flyers, or merch.

🛑Please refrain from posting your music. This is for a genre that sprouted NOT FROM ICP. If you post your music, it will be judged harshly just like the forum days. If you have no clue what the forums were, then you *probably* shouldn’t be here. If you are here to be educated, great! We are here to help.

⚠NO PSYCHOPATHIC/MNE/ESHAM RELATED ANYTHING. If I have to say this maybe you don’t know what Horrorcore is.

Discussion D12?

I kinda wanted to mark this shit post. Thought better of it. Why don’t they call themselves something else? Even Bizarre is gone. It’s just Swifty McVay and Kuniva. Sure they got decent features. It’s only 2 people though and I don’t get the purpose of milking the name since you have barely have anything left to use.

THREE 6 MAFIA: LORD INFAMOUS’ INFLUENCE ON MODERN HIP HOP & THE DARK MYSTERY BEHIND MEMPHIS RAP

From Three 6 Mafia and Lord Infamous to the eerie world of Mystic Stylez, this video explores Memphis’ underground, the “Satanic” imagery, horrorcore, and the triplet flow that would eventually become a foundation of modern trap.

But the deeper you go, the stranger the story becomes — including the mysterious world of Memphis Rap Sigils and obscure tapes surrounded by internet lore and unanswered questions.

The Basement Tapes and Amber Alert were uploaded to Spotify but were taken down roughly a year ago and I cannot find anything from those albums online since. If anyone has it or knows a way for me to get my hands on those albums it'd be a big help.

Discussion Alguém ainda gosta de BLACKHANDPATH?

Recommendation What are the best, and/or scariest, storytelling raps from the horrorcore world?

I've been on a mission to find the scariestt storytelling/narrative raps from horrorcore/juggallo/hardcore rappers. Especially looking for stuff that's on the darker and more disturbing side. Some stuff I've found that fits what I'm looking for: "In My Room" and "The Tower" by ICP, "Lord Have Mercy" by Cage, "Blood on the Floorboards" by Twisted Insane, "Man With a Helmet" by Lil ugly mane/bedwetter.

What actually makes a horrorcore track horrorcore to you?

I’ve always thought horrorcore hits hardest when it’s more than just saying the most fucked up thing possible.

For me it’s the atmosphere, character, storytelling, psychological shit, paranoia, grime, dark humour and a beat that actually sounds sinister. Gore can be part of it, but if there’s no personality or writing behind it, it gets boring quick.

I came up listening to darker underground shit like Cage, Rhyme Asylum, early Eminem horror material and other grimy rap that actually felt uncomfortable instead of just trying to shock you.

What makes a horrorcore track legit to you?

And who do you think represents the genre properly?

Movies for the Blind is forever my #1 pick..

Dropped a horrorcore track — curious what actual horrorcore heads think

Post image

I’m VV, an underground rapper from NZ. This is one of the darker tracks from the project I’m working on.

I was going for psychological horror more than straight gore — paranoia, surveillance, feeling watched, reality starting to feel like a film set, that kinda shit.

Mainly wanna know whether the atmosphere and writing actually land as horrorcore to yous.

If it’s shit, say it’s shit 😂 I’d rather hear it from people who actually know the genre.
