Discussion Hostinger terminated my Referral account and withheld my commissions — unclear promotion rules

I have been a Hostinger customer for around two years and recently participated in the Hostinger Referral Program.

Hostinger has now permanently terminated my Referral account and withheld my referral commissions. After contacting their support team and appealing the decision, I was told that the decision is final.

What concerns me most is not simply that my Referral account was terminated, but how the promotion restrictions were communicated to me.

When I was using the Referral Program, the relevant Referral page/interface did not clearly or prominently indicate which promotion methods were allowed and which were prohibited.

For example, there was no clear explanation on the Referral page telling participants which types of websites, blogs, social media platforms, or other channels could or could not be used to share referral links.

I have screenshots of the Referral section in my Hostinger account from that time, showing how the program was presented to me.

I understand that Hostinger has a Referral Program Agreement with its own rules and restrictions. However, my concern is that these important restrictions were not clearly presented on the actual Referral interface in a way that would allow participants to easily understand what promotional methods were permitted or prohibited.

I was also not notified when the Referral Program terms were changed.

This is particularly concerning because these rules can potentially result in the termination of a referral account and the loss of commissions.

Hostinger is now relying on these rules to permanently terminate my Referral account and withhold my commissions.

I have asked Hostinger to clarify:

  • Which version of the Referral Program Agreement applied when my referrals and commissions were generated
  • Which specific clause they believe I violated
  • When that clause became effective
  • Where these promotion restrictions were clearly disclosed to Referral participants at the relevant time
  • Whether a later version of the agreement was applied to activity that occurred before the change
  • Whether participants were notified when these terms were changed
  • What contractual basis Hostinger relies on to withhold commissions that had already been generated

Unfortunately, I have not received a satisfactory explanation, and Hostinger has confirmed that its decision is final.

I am posting this here because I would like to hear from other Hostinger Referral Program participants.

When you joined the program, were the permitted and prohibited promotion methods clearly shown on the Referral page?

And if you have been a Referral participant for some time, were you notified when the Referral Program terms were changed?

I am not saying that Hostinger should have no rules. My concern is whether important restrictions that can result in account termination and loss of commissions were clearly and transparently communicated to participants at the time.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar experience or has screenshots of how the Referral Program was presented in the past.

Discussion Can the Premium plan handle a medium-sized imageboard?

After next year, I'm thinking about creating my own wine-focused imageboard hosted on a .org domain, but I'm really unsure if 20 GB of SSD storage can handle moderate traffic. I asked a few AIs, and they say it's fine at first, but if the number of users grows, I'll have to migrate to a VPS.

I’d like to know if Hostinger’s terms of service allow me to host a site here. I’m aware of the company's reputation, and I want my site to be a healthy environment free from extremists, but I want to confirm that this type of well-moderated content is permitted. I’m interested in hosting here because I’ve heard great things about the excellent service, and my cousin hosted a site here too (though only for a short time due to a lack of funds). I hope the Hostinger team can clarify this for me.

Help - WordPress Hostinger holding my WordPress site updates hostage despite having switched to a new hosting provider!

Exactly as the title says, I can't update WordPress right now because, even after going through all the correct channels to transfer my website from Hostinger to my new host IONOS (yes I know IONOS isn't great but it's cheap and I'm broke), every time I attempt to update WordPress, I get the following error:

Download failed.: cURL error 28: Failed to connect to wpdownloads.hostinger.io port 443 after 10006 ms: Timeout was reached

It's clearly still trying to download things through Hostinger, despite the website having been fully transferred away from Hostinger, domain, database and filesystem.

I've cleared all references to Hostinger from the database, removed all Hostinger-related plugins, there shouldn't be anything left of Hostinger in this website, but obviously I've missed something. Does anyone have any idea where this final remnant of Hostinger's code could be hiding in my website?

This is preventing me from keeping my website up-to-date so it's a very pressing issue for me. I'd appreciate any and all help!

Feedback I migrated from HostGator to Hostinger

Was on HostGator for a while, but some things made me switch: the first thing i noticed was the price, Hostinger's cloud and shared plans came out sm cheaper than the price I was payin HostGator for the renewals, that alone made it worth checking out - HostGator's intro pricing is ok, but renewals jus keep gettin more n more pricey... reliability was the bigger issue fs - been dealing with more downtime than I'd like to, also the support quality jus spiraled into a new problem - slow ahh responses w basically no help, that combo by itself almost got me to switch asap lol. Also heres a little advice for anyone else migrating there+using cPanel... you might wanna relearn where things at, cuz Hostinger uses hPanel - u just gotta get used to it, not a dealbreaker. And one important thing for anyone moving the same as me: Hostinger does offer migration assist, but don't rely on that only, back up everything yourself first - databases, emails and stuff b4 u start, having backups is always good if sth transfers wrong. Overall worth it for me so far, but u better go in with real expectations n keep your own backups

Discussion After 5 years with Hostinger, I think I'm finally done. Downtime + AI support when your business site is offline is unacceptable.

I've been with Hostinger for around 5 years, and I think I've finally reached the point where I need to seriously consider moving away. Cloud Enterprise Hosting Plan

The frustrating part is that I haven't stayed because the service has been exceptional. I've primarily stayed because their pricing is difficult to beat, particularly when you're hosting multiple websites.

I currently have around 10 websites, including a couple of e-commerce sites, so migrating everything isn't something I particularly want to do for fun.

But my experience over the last several years has been that Hostinger's service and support have gradually deteriorated while I've continued giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Today was probably the last straw.

Several of my websites went completely offline for more than 60 minutes because of an active Hostinger server incident. This isn't just a personal blog — customers use the website, so downtime directly affects the business.

What made the situation considerably more frustrating was the support experience.

I repeatedly asked:

"Connect me to a human."

Instead, the Hostinger AI agent kept telling me that engineers were already working on the incident and that there was nothing I needed to do.

That's fine as a status update. I understand infrastructure incidents happen.

But when a paying customer with a business website that has been offline for 30+ minutes explicitly asks to speak with a human, I don't think an AI agent should repeatedly try to prevent that escalation.

Eventually I got the option to "Wait for a human review," after repeatedly asking for a person.

The irony is that I spoke with someone from Hostinger's customer relationship team only two days ago, and now I'm sitting here with an unavailable website trying to convince a chatbot to let me speak with a human.

I'm not expecting any hosting provider to have 100% uptime forever. Servers fail. Networks fail. Software fails. That's part of running infrastructure.

What I do expect is:

  • reasonable reliability;
  • transparent incident communication;
  • competent technical support;
  • and the ability to reach a human quickly when an actual production website is down.

AI support is perfectly fine for "How do I install WordPress?"

It is considerably less acceptable when an e-commerce/business website is offline and the customer is explicitly requesting escalation.

Looking back over roughly five years, I feel like Hostinger has become cheaper in experience, not just in price. The pricing remains attractive, but reliability/support are becoming increasingly difficult for me to justify.

So I'm genuinely interested in hearing from people who have actually moved away from Hostinger:

What provider did you move to, and has it genuinely been better?

My requirements are roughly:

  • Around 10 websites
  • Mostly WordPress
  • A couple of WooCommerce/e-commerce websites
  • Good performance
  • Proper backups
  • Good uptime
  • Human technical support when something genuinely goes wrong
  • Preferably an Asian/Singapore data center or good performance for international traffic
  • Easy migration
  • Pricing reasonably close to Hostinger — I'm willing to pay somewhat more for reliability, but I'm not looking to jump from budget hosting to $200–300/month enterprise hosting.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone using Cloudways, Hetzner, KnownHost, NixiHost, SiteGround, or another provider for a similar multi-site setup.

I'm not looking for affiliate links or hosting-company sales pitches. I'm specifically interested in long-term experiences from people actually running multiple production websites/WooCommerce stores.

If you've been with Hostinger for several years, I'd also be curious:

Has the support/reliability experience gotten worse for you too, or have I just had an unusually bad run?

Screenshot attached showing today's support experience.

Weekly update Hostinger weekly update #42

Post image
2 Upvotes

Last week brought a wave of updates across Reach, WordPress, AI Builder, and Domains:

📨 Reach

  • Reach now has a public API with 30+ endpoints. Manage contacts, fields, tags, and segments, pull campaign and automation info, and plug Reach into your own tools via the Hostinger Connector, a direct integration, or n8n.
  • Subdomain sending is now supported (e.g. mail.yourdomain.com), which helps deliverability and keeps your sending traffic separate from your main domain.

🧩 WordPress

  • Elementor support landed in the Hostinger Affiliate Marketing Tools plugin, with a custom widget that brings the full Gutenberg affiliate experience to Elementor (Amazon and Mercado Livre).
  • The AI Website Builder for WordPress can now generate multiple site versions (up to five), so you can browse, compare, and restore different directions instead of regenerating from scratch.
  • New Hostinger Ecommerce plugin for WordPress: run a full store from WordPress while Hostinger Ecommerce handles products, orders, payments, and analytics. A simpler alternative to WooCommerce.

🤖 AI Builder

  • Agentic mode can now revert code changes file by file, so you can roll back a single file without undoing the whole message.
  • It can also build appointment-based businesses now: describe a business that runs on bookings, and it builds the site, services, and booking flow together. Barbershops, trainers, tutors, photographers, and more.

🌍 Domains

  • Bulk domain transfers are live. Move multiple domains to Hostinger in one flow instead of one at a time.

Help - Horizons Website down

My website has been down for hours with Error 522. Hostingers AI gave several contradictory explanations, while Cloudflare appears to be configured correctly The promised restoration time passed and Im still waiting in a queue for a real support agent This is disappointing for a service advertised as 24/7 live suport.

Has anyone else experienced this

I already contacted Hostinger support and requested a human agent but I am still waiting in the queue without a solution

Discussion Is it normal for a freelancer to take a cut of your sales instead of charging a flat fee for email marketing?

A freelancer offered to set up my email marketing and take 15% of whatever sales come from it until it hits $2k, instead of billing me upfront. Sounded low risk at the time. Now I'm second guessing it since I have no idea what that work actually costs normally. I ended up building the campaigns myself through Hostinger Reach just to see what it involved, and it took an afternoon instead of weeks. Still curious what others paid flat fee vs commission, because I think I got talked into the more expensive option.

Help - Domain Rinnovo hostinger

Discussion Hostinger says I'm maxing out my disk I/O but every other metric is basically idle

Been on Hostinger shared hosting for a while. Hosting 6 WordPress sites, all behind Bunny CDN with LiteSpeed cache, so the server itself barely does anything at all.

Sites got really slow this past week. Ran some basic tests over SSH, and writing a 10MB file took over 30 seconds and never even finished! Got about 4MB done before I killed it. That works out to roughly 138 KB/s.

Here's the actual test:

$ time (timeout 30 head -c 10485760 /dev/zero > ~/iotest); ls -l ~/iotest
real 0m30.046s
user 0m0.008s
sys 0m0.029s
-rw-r--r-- 1 u785 o100 4141056 Aug 28 17:46 /home/u785/iotest

Support told me I'm hitting my I/O allocation of 20480 KB/s and I should reduce plugins, check my cron jobs, enable caching, or upgrade my current plan (sigh).

Here's the part that doesn't make sense to me. My hPanel shows:

  • CPU 6% average
  • RAM 469MB out of 3072
  • PHP workers 5 out of 60
  • Processes 9 out of 120
  • IOPS 73 out of 512

The only graph anywhere near a limit is throughput, which is pinned at the ceiling basically 24/7. But if I were really pushing 20MB/s of disk writes, my IOPS wouldn't be sitting at 14%.

I also have zero cron jobs. No log files anywhere. WP_DEBUG is off. So whatever is generating that constant I/O, it isn't anything I set up.

And even if I am getting throttled, shouldn't throttling cap me at 20480 KB/s? I'm getting 138 KB/s. That's less than 1% of the limit they say I'm exceeding.

I just prepaid a full year of the Business Web Hosting plan; great timing, I guess. Has anyone run into this? Mostly wondering if that throughput graph is actually measuring my account or if it's showing node-wide activity.

Hostinger post Horizons and Website Builder came together as AI Builder

You may have noticed the new AI Builder in hPanel. Website Builder and Horizons are now one platform: Website Builder helped millions of people build visually, Horizons opened the door to AI-native creation, and AI Builder brings both ways of building into one place.

1. More ways to start a project

You're no longer limited to typing a description. AI Builder can start from a prompt, a PDF, a screenshot, or a link. Upload a menu, share a reference image of a design you like, or paste a link to an old site you want redone, and that becomes the starting point for your website, store, or app.

2. Two modes, two ways of working

Manual mode is the fully no-code, drag-and-drop experience you know from Website Builder. You edit everything visually, and it comes with built-in AI tools like the AI Writer, AI SEO Assistant, and AI Image Generator. It's the right fit for portfolios, blogs, company sites, landing pages, and online stores.

Agentic mode is prompt-based: you describe what you need in a chat, and the AI generates and develops the project for you, including custom logic. That makes it the better fit for web apps, dashboards, client portals, and other interactive tools. There's also a built-in code editor if you want to look under the hood.

If you start in manual mode and later need more, you can switch a manual mode website to agentic mode and your site is recreated 1:1. Switching in the other direction isn't supported, so it's worth picking your starting mode based on what you're building. The full comparison is here: manual mode vs agentic mode.

3. Agentic mode comes with an integrated backend

For projects that need more than pages, agentic mode includes an integrated backend, so the technical side behind your project runs within your Hostinger account rather than through third-party services you'd have to set up yourself. Selling is covered too: both modes support store creation, natively in manual mode and through the Online Store integration in agentic mode.

4. You control what goes live

In agentic mode, the AI works separately from your published project, and changes only go public when you publish them. In manual mode, you edit and hit Publish when ready, and a backup of your site is created automatically each time you update.

There's more on the change itself in the full launch announcement.

As always, our Customer Success team is available 24/7 if you have questions about your project or plan. We're also curious which mode fits your project and what you're building with it, manual or agentic?

I won't complain for long because it's actually simple. Your SSL installation is impossible to figure out as a CS grad ,well done for over engineering it. "Just follow the guides" , the dashboard button on the websites page IS NOT THERE ... I've Checked . Every youtube video is out of date . Do something or close down .

ps. wait and another thing ,why the hell is it on by default after purchase ? What a genius idea because that means you can't get the cert files for yourself . actually I just realized that's by design.

Help - Website Development Google aistudio can’t connect to hostinger MySQL db

I am working on a project on Google aistudio that is using hostinger’s MySQL database as it database host. It was working fine for me for more than a month but suddenly stopped working today. Debugging says it etimedout.

I already set remote MySQL to whitelist any host but I’m still getting the same error.

I also restored the project to its previous working state but still got the same error.

Were there any changes to hostinger recently that might have been causing this issue?

Discussion When I’d choose Hermes on a VPS

If I wanted:

  • root access
  • full control over the environment
  • custom configurations
  • other apps/services running on the same VPS
  • more freedom to modify the setup

So I don’t think Managed Hermes Agent necessarily replaces running Hermes on a VPS. They’re more for different types of users.

Managed Hermes = easier setup and less maintenance

VPS = more control and flexibility

Curious what people here prefer for AI agents. Would you rather manage the infrastructure yourself, or pay a bit more to have the boring server stuff handled?

For anyone wanting to test the managed version, there’s also a Reddit promo code:
