General question/discussion Auto Insurance
Where I’m from deer and vehicle collisions are very common and from what I understand, they dictate how harvest targets are set in the state. As hunters, I think it would be a neat idea to show your deer tags and license to our auto insurers for a slight cut in the annual premiums we pay, to reward us for trying to lower deer numbers, which essentially saves them money. Are any of you aware if this has ever been proposed in state governments? I think it would be a cool idea and let us hunt for a discount, or for free. What do you think?

I think they would think it makes you a higher risk. Driving in rural areas whenever deer are most active in low light situations.

I get what you’re saying but they probably don’t consider third shift workers higher risk because they drive in low light conditions, you know? They probably can’t discriminate like that.

When I was younger I would go “hunting” at three in the morning with nothing but a GMC Sierra at 70mph with a bull bar on the front and bag more deer than my tags could ever fill.
That being said I’d rather the insurance companies not know how many deer are taken as a result of my vehicular “accidents”. In reality they’re only going to raise my rates if they knew the actual data, never give me a refund for taking deer off the road.

this would require insurance companies to forgo the maximum extraction of profit in favor of doing something nice for people who care about their community
combined with coming out publicly in favor of hunting, which is gonna piss off their vegan/vegetarian/clueless Bambi-lover suburban customers
be real cool if they did, but they're never gonna do that

DNR should give me refund on my tag if I smoke a deer with my equinox.
