Questions Community Feedback — What Would You Like to See on r/IndianHomeDecor?

Hello everyone,

I’m u/riyaldhruv, one of the new moderators here at r/IndianHomeDecor. First of all, wishing you all Happy Independence Day from all of us in the Mod Team!🇮🇳 Hope everyone has a wonderful 15th of August!

We’ve been thinking about the direction of our community going ahead, and we wanted to share a thought. We believe r/IndianHomeDecor should stay focused specifically on home decor and personal home styling.

There are already great dedicated spaces for full interior design, renovation, architecture, and structural layout planning. To keep our community unique, we’d love for us to lean into the smaller, more personal side of making a home feel like your own.
If we keep our focus here, it helps the sub stay distinct while keeping the content relatable and useful for everyone looking to decorate their space.

Larger full-size renovations, floor-plan, and structural projects may be better suited to dedicated interior design and home improvement communities, but they’re absolutely welcome here when there’s a clear focus on the decor, styling, and visual aspects of the project.

With that in mind, we’d love to hear from you on what kind of content would you like to see more of on r/IndianHomeDecor?
Are there particular types of posts, projects, or discussions you think would make the community more useful and interesting?
What do you all think? We’d love to hear your thoughts on the future of r/IndianHomeDecor and how we can keep our community focused, welcoming, and inspiring!

Hi everyone, I want your help in designing my hall(living room) walls. I want simple yet modern projection designs achieved through simply plastering or POP(plaster of Paris) or paint because I want to lower the cost for interior as much as possible. I've attached example pics(4-9th pics)

1st pic is pov of hall's wall from entrance (the pathway leads to the dining & the left opening is ots) 2nd pic is the tv unit wall where the ots opening is on right side

In the ots, there's gonna be a washbasin setup accessed from the dining side

Note: for ots opening, I have some ideas to cover it with teracotta or glass jaali or a vertical fish tank with required provisions given below but you are free to use your imagination. Thankyou.

PS: please avoid any political parties and person living or dead, any celebrities..... thanks

Budget-Friendly Idea What can I do with this awkward space between the wall and my spiral staircase?

Post image
20 Upvotes

I’m trying to figure out what to do with this space between the wall and the staircase. It feels too awkward to just leave empty, but I also don’t want the usual minimalist “add a floor-to-ceiling storage cabinet” solution. The cabinet in the image has been moved from a different room to here temporarily.

I’m looking for something that actually makes the space look intentional-could be decorative, functional, plants, lighting, a display, etc. I’m open to creative ideas and even a slightly more elaborate design.

The staircase is already there, so the solution would need to work around it without making the area feel cramped.

What would you do with this space? Photos/inspo would be very welcome!

Questions painted this wall twice and the seelan is back. wardrobe work starts next week, do i stop it?

ffs this wall again.

got it repaired + painted twice and the damp patch is slowly coming back. carpenter is supposed to start the wardrobe here next week and now i'm imagining mould behind 8 feet of plywood.

was looking up internal wall dampness and found Dr Fixit Dampguard which seems meant for this kind of thing , but bathroom is on other side of this wall.

so do i just stop the wardrobe work completely till someone figures out where the mositure is actually coming from ? painter is again saying putty + paint and move on which clearly worked great the first two times lol.

Questions House got renovated, basement got mold even before the paint dried up. Need ventilation ideas or other suggestions?

So me and my family just shifted back to our house in Delhi a month ago, and I was supposed to move into the basement.
I did, and there’s mold (Seelan) as mentioned in the subject. The builder will get it re painted but I know it will come back. Since there’s no ventilation or circulation of fresh air, how do I work upon it?
I did reach out to a few HVAC companies who get it fixed but even they’re not guaranteeing a lot since the house is 100% renovated

Any ideas would help

Thanks!

I used Gemini and chatgpt to help visualize some ideas for my home, and this is what it came up with.

  1. Indian traditional inspiration
  2. Modern side of the room
  3. Another modern idea
  4. My original room

Would love to hear what you’d keep, change, or do differently!

I’m currently in the process of making a few changes, and I’ll try to update this post once it’s done!

Questions Thinking of buying this Atomberg Renesa Enzel 1400mm BLDC fan (₹4,049). Honest long-term review?

I'm thinking of buying this Atomberg Renesa Enzel 1400mm BLDC ceiling fan for my room. It's currently around ₹4,049.

Before I buy it, I'd really like to hear from people who have actually used this fan or similar Atomberg BLDC fans.

Main things I want to know:

  • How is the airflow, especially for a bedroom?
  • Is it actually quiet at night?
  • Any wobbling or noise issues after 1–2 years?
  • How is the remote/reliability?
  • Does it actually save noticeable electricity compared with a normal fan?
  • How is Atomberg's after-sales service?
  • Any problems after the warranty period?
  • At ₹4,049, is it worth buying or would you choose another fan?

Please give me your honest experience, including negatives. I'm not looking for a "yes, it's good" answer — I'd especially like to know about problems people faced after long-term use.

Thanks!

Room Makeover Need help making this room liveable.

This room was previously used as a store room. My brother is getting married and i need to shift to my own room now.

Your creativity is required to make this room less cluttered and liveable.

A bit about myself:- I have been into video editing in my previous job and am planning on using this room to start shooting content. I don’t have much budget so need affordable options. I am into DIY stuff. Love making personalised stuffs that are unique to me like lamps, speakers, paracord stuff etc.

I want this room to be minimalistic with highlighting my hobbies like bike riding, photography and videography. I am dedicating a part of my wall (opposite the wall in image) to showcase my riding gear and bike parts

My plan:- I am planning on restoring the mini almirah and use it in some other room(basically get rid of it) and transform the extreme left wooden wardrobe into a single bed(initially it was a box bed only). Rest i have no idea and need your inputs.

P.S. I am a Messi fan, that steel almirah is a product of my elder brother’s childhood creativity
Thanks in advance

Questions Need recommendations for aesthetic + super comfortable bedding for my home 🛏️

Hi everyone! I’m refreshing the bedding in my home and would love some recommendations.
I’m looking for bedding that feels comfortable, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing — something that looks good but is also genuinely nice to sleep in.
Here’s what I need:
2 bedrooms: comforters + bedsheets + pillow covers
Bedsheet size: 72 × 84
Pillow covers: 8
Guest bedroom: 78 × 72 bedding + 2 pillow covers
Prefer a minimal, elegant/aesthetic look
Comfort and fabric quality are more important than having the cheapest option
Ideally something that holds up well after repeated washing
I’m open to brands, local stores, online stores, or specific products. If you’ve personally bought something you love, please share the details and why you recommend it!
Also interested in suggestions for fabric/material — cotton, percale, sateen, linen, microfiber, etc. I’m a little overwhelmed by all the options 😅
Budget: [5-6k for everything (rupees)]

Any colour combinations (my preference is some shade of off white walls with one accent wall in each room with some bright colour to make the space look bigger more open and fresh)

Android apps which would be helpful to help select the above

Any other reddit communities which can be visited to explore

First image space is 60*30 inches

In the second image there's a little gap between the bed and where the door opens, that is around 24-25 inches.

I wanted a table and desk and some extra storage.

Could you please suggest some options I have. I can't slide the bed in the first gap.
