2021 Scout Sixty Bobber CEL
Rode home from work this morning, and when stopped at an off ramp the check engine light came on, steady not flashing. Performance was fine, battery voltage is fine. Picking up a code reader but asking for ideas on what else to check. Only 6200 miles on it with less than a 1000 since I bought it.
Ideas?

If you look online there are steps to take to reset the check engine light, I had a similar experience with my 23 Scout Rogue with 8k miles I bought used... It messed with me a few times and I just reset it... Hasn't come back on for a year or so. Disclaimer - I understand if the CEL continues to blink that is more serious, I am in no way, shape or form a mechanic.

Thanks. I'm thinking an intermittent fault so I'll reset it for now. I appreciate the input.

I dont know if they are the same but on my daughters chief you scroll through the displays till it gets to the check engine display then hold down the selector button for a few seconds and it will give you a trouble code. Then look in the manual or just google the code and it will tell you the problem.

Thanks. Mine does not show a CEL display when I cycle through. I don't know if that means there's nothing really there or if it isn't an option.

I have 2025 Scout Bobber so it may not be the same on your bike but I have this issue from time to time.
From what I have read it just means a connection could be loose. What I do to clear it is double check the connection under seat, make sure it’s connected and secured and that usually fixes it.

The challenger has a phantom cambus error that can pop up related to electrical bits booting out of order on start-up. Maybe the Scout has something similar?

Double check your fuse box under the seat. I had been experiencing the same thing on my 25 Sport Scout and after troubleshooting I realized the cover to the fuse box wasn’t securely fastened. Double checked that all fuses were seated correctly and secured cover…haven’t had any issues since.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Hit some good bumps at 75mph so that sounds plausible

if there is no fault, it will reset after about 45KM of riding. make sure to turn off and turn back on and the light will be gone.

Running fine, not flashing, voltage looks fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much
