Reading these comments make me sad. Sure, she might not have followed directions, but does than justify using this much force? Did he really have to slam her into a bike? Is he really so "in danger" that he can't arrest her in a less violent way?
Are americans aware that police in most European countries aren't this violent? They are emboldened to be violent by the same justifications people write here, but good Police training would teach them how to de-escalate and avoid violence. It's 100% wild to me that so mamy people think it's necessary and justified that a geared up Police guy punch a young woman directly in the face after slaming her on top of a bike because she stood behind him.

Cops should be trained well enough that this doesn't happen, if a cop pulls the shit in the video then they are bad at their job. Are there good cops, sure we even see them on reddit, but they are vastly out numbered by angry ill trained shitheads. So no I don't, I want properly trained enforcemt that "protects and serves" as they were hired to do.

Yeah, the problem is people act like just because the cop got violent, that automatically disregards the fact that what the woman was doing is wrong. The cop is a piece of shit, I'm by no means trying to justify any of what he did, but the woman is still in the wrong for getting up on them and then going back in for seconds. He pushed her then she aggressively charged him again got tackled and then started throwing knees while she was down hence the punches. This is 100% justifiable. If she woulf have just stayed back after the 1st push she would have gone home that night. Instead she chose to charge him.

It’s extremely dangerous to approach police officers while they’re arresting someone. Exposed firearms and other weapons can be a serious risk. Furthermore, if police repeatedly tell you to step away and you refuse, you’re interfering with their duties. In Florida, we have the Halo Law, which makes it illegal to get within a certain distance of police during such situations.

Police and the government tend to escalate rapidly and with wild overreaction when people do as you're implying, and so most are hesitant to step in. I assume that police leadership spend a certain amount of time talking about whether they've gone far enough that otherwise law abiding citizens start seriously consider shooting a few of them.

i'm guessing you've never had to tackle someone because unless you are going for the kill from the start its really not easy to restrain someone once you're wrestling without using possibly lethal force. she's close to his size too and way fitter so let's assume equal strength since he's a man.
like yes if when he threw her down he put her in a headlock with his knee on her neck it would have become a very easy arrest, however that has a significant chance of killing her so... better to try with raw force first and let another officer assist if you fail?

The weakest male cop on the force could absolutely manhandle that woman, no question about it. But policing now is very gentle so they take great care to effect the arrest without injury, which can involve multiple cops manipulating the persons arms behind their back and handcuffing. Generally speaking it is very difficult and takes time to handcuff someone who is resisting.
