Not interested in Iowa football? This Saturday at 3 come to the archaeology open house at Plum Grove. Plum Grove was the 1844 historic home of Robert Lucas, the territorial governor of Iowa and former governor of Ohio. This site was extensively excavated between 1974 and 2010. You will get a tour of the inside of the house by a docent and I will give a walking tour of the park grounds showing where numerous archaeology features were excavated. This is an Iowa Archeological Society event, but the public is welcome. Free.

I've lived in Iowa City for a while and a lot of my friends that I played pickup sports with have left. I still want to play, but I feel like there's not a great option for outdoor pickup. I know you can pay to go to some gyms and find games. It's just not ideal IMO, and free is always preferred lol.

Soooo I've spent the last year (with large breaks) working on Court Spotters to find and organize pickup games in Iowa City for Basketball, Pickleball, and Tennis (will add volleyball, soccer).

If anyone is interested in joining, it's free! If you have feedback, that would be greatly appreciated. It's a passion project that I hope some day can be a place for the community to find new people to play sports with.

Moved out of a KMB owned apartment July 24th and gave them a forwarding address for security deposit. Have not gotten anything about them keeping it for whatever reason nor have I gotten the deposit. I keep emailing them asking for an update and to confirm they have gotten the email and nothing. Has anyone else had the similar happen, and what did you do? I know by now they cannot legally charge us for anything since the 30 day requirement has passed but would like to get this settled without having to file a claim in small claims court/getting a lawyer. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hello. I thought I'd give this a shot. I'm a young Gen Xer that has not been able to adapt to the digital dystopia. I'm from a time when you could make friends just sitting on your porch. Seeing as I live in an apartment building that's kind of out of the question. So I thought I'd give this a try. I'm looking to connect and make friends with similar interests. I'm really into horror movies, well, all sorts of movies really but horror is probably my favorite genre. I'm also really into music. Music is probably a bit higher in the hierarchy of my interests but movies abs books are close behind. I'm also into ttrpgs, hiking and exploring the outdoors, coffee time, thrifting and conjuring eldritch horrors under a waning crescent moon. Ok, that last one was a lie, though I'm up for anything. But honestly, I'm just looking to make some friends to share similar interests, movie nights, music listening sessions, hiking or the occasional arcane ritual.

Have a hankering for some steamed soup dumplings and am curious to know if we have any good handcrafted dumplings in the IC/CR area.

I have the parts to replace the blower motor and resistor in my Chevy Equinox. I did the research and made sure to order the right parts, then watched all the youtube videos and know how to do it, but then came the actual physical labor of replacing the parts and getting to the little screws. I'm big and clumsy and simply can't get under the dashboard in my garage.

I am planning to move to Iowa City next year and am beginning to look at places. My fiancée is a grad student there so needs to be somewhat close to campus but I am not a student and we would prefer to not be super close to campus or surrounded by students.

Looking for recommendations for nice areas to live or specific buildings/complexes. Most important to me is being in an interesting location where I can walk out my door and explore whether that be in the city or a more outdoorsy area.

I moved here from Des Moines about 3.5 years ago for my partner. I now have my own business and work solo so it's been difficult to find some similar-aged friends here in Iowa City. I would really love to have some local friends that aren't 2 hours away but it seems like my only age options are college kids or retired folks... where are the girls in their mid-thirties looking for a hiking/reading/nature buddy?? Are there any groups or clubs out there that aren't centered around alcohol (I don't drink) or college kids?

71(M) here, not from I/C. I do not drive ... take Uber everywhere. I have many doctors appointments (10 so far in Sept.) I go to UIHC for my visits. I go to Main Campus, IRL in Coralville, North Liberty, and the latest is in Tiffin. I can not walk to a bus stop due to medical issues. Are there any other ways to get around other than Yellow Cab, I tried them with no luck whatsoever. Uber is breaking my bank , need something cheaper and readily available. Thanks

Hello, my sweet pup has passed away- she was on a bunch of expensive medication that we still have a lot of. Is there a way to give it to someone in need or is it illegal for my vet to take it back to give to someone else who could use it? Would love if someone could use them and not just have to be discarded.

8 aluminum trays with a variety of leftover middle eastern catering, all vegetarian. Each tray is different. Long tray is salad. Sorry they were not marked! It was a late night, I didn't have a sharpie and couldn't find one at the fridge. Hope someone finds it and enjoys it.
