Seed nephrite changes

Never got to share this piece I got from u/youka00 as reddit flagged my account after my first review post😭 (still don't know why, s/o says maybe it's because my account was brand new.. at least it's finally lifted lol)

I love seeing this seed bangle change over time. The luster went from matte to preeetty glossy. I feel like the light penetrates a bit better as well? I have a few Qinghai pieces, and the texture is visibly different. I can definitely understand why people in the nephrite hobby tend to prefer seed pieces now🤣 Looking forward to how this bangle looks after 1 year of 盘玩🤭

(Also, kind of want to get a Russian piece down the line. Would love to see how the 3 main sources of nephrite jade compare in person.)

Thanks for sharing! I'm liking my Qinghai bangles better than my two XJ seed bangles at this point and wear them more (when not wearing jadeite bangle). I love the glossy and watery texture. I also have beads from both kinds too. I can see the appeal of both XJ and QH. I don't own any Siberian or Russian as of now.

I do actually wear my QH pieces more🙈 they almost look jelly like if that makes sense? From what I've seen so far, I think each "source" has their own pros (and cons). Here's a picture of the 翠青 QH bangle on my arm right now haha

Ohhhh I like your QH and it has a nice color!!! That other pic i had was so crappy but i didn’t feel like retaking it with all of them. Here’s a pic of the qingshui/qinghai bangle on right side and the QH cat’s eye beads in the middle. Left bangle is jadeite though.

My finger was hovering over Qinghai and XJ seed pieces during a recent sale on Boutique. I agree—Qinghai has such a nice jelly glow.

Oooh would it cause me to be shadowbanned on the rest of the platform as well? Sorry for the dumb question, mostly on reddit for jadeite and nephrite so I'm not super familiar😅 Is there any specific color you would like?👀

Each subreddit community is different and sets different rules. Like some communities can block anyone from posting that has, like, less than 150 karma. So some could def shadow ban you, especially if your account is reported on the back end. But I wouldn’t worry about shadow banning until you get your account a little higher with karma!

I loooooove that spinach green of nephrite so I’d probably get some fat spinach green beads… maybe a bangle? Something that really shows off that spectrum

I can see the changes! I had no idea it could happen so quickly.

Have you considered other nephrite from other locales outside the main 3? I’ve been eyeing black from USA and Australia.

I think ours are sister bangles! Mine was also noticeably more oily after a day or 2 but I haven’t worn for a while. I’m going to wear it now, this got me excited about how much more it will change.

Is the color change that drastic or because of lighting difference? Before is fairly light and after is much darker!

I thinks it’s more of the lighting difference, what I’ve noticed is it has gotten very slightly darker but a lot more oily.

I am curious does this change only happen for seed category of nephrite jade or all categories.

I noticed my jadeite bangle is a lot glossier after I worn it day and night for 3 months. Good to know same for nephrite.

I'm pretty sure it applies to all! From the rare comparison posts I've seen on RedNote, the pieces do get glossier/oilier and the color gets a bit richer and warmer!

Thank you for sharing such a lovely follow-up!! Super fun to see how seed jade changes over time 🥰💖 for me, about 10 months to a year of continuous wear was when I start to see crazy big changes on some of my pieces (outside of the initial moistness that comes up on the first month or so), so please look forward to it~ (And congrats on your ban finally being lifted 😂!!!)
