Hi!

Jon* Stewart did an interview with a one-time congressman but I can't find it with my searches. The congressman is a white man, he was young at the time of the interview. I'm trying to find this clip because he talks about the gaming power in politics and how it didn't suit him.

This has nothing to do with him running for political office, I know he won't, even though he'd be the best person for it.

But if I have a story I think might be of interest (given his disdain for Trump and ICE for example, in addition to his support for first responders and for the VA in particular) and I want to bring a specific story relating all of those in one, directly to him, his podcast or to the daily show's attention, how do I go about it?

I don't live in the US, but it's obviously concerning a US citizen. I just think he'd actually care and maybe would like to hear about it, even if he can't do anything and I'm not expecting anything really. Just want him to hear/read the story and make up his own mind. But I can't make phone calls that won't cost me a fortune since I'm in the UK, I don't use social media, from what I know he doesn't either, and I doubt he'd respond anyway - I sure don't.

I've actually had a look, not extensively but still. The only thing I could find as an option was leaving a comment on youtube but again, he's obviously not gonna see it or read it. Is there an actual way to contact him, a daily show representative or anything else?

Sorry if this is a dumb question and feel free to delete, I'm sure if there's an easy way to send a short email or something, it wouldn't be advertised here.

All I've found are scammy looking pay-for websites, US phone numbers and US mail all of which aren't super easy when you don't live there. So no emails, nothing like that.

I'm sure it's easy if you live in the US and have access to all this stuff but I don't.

I love John Stewart. I would love for him to run for president. I feel like he brings the perfect balance of leftwing politics while also being relatable to people who think that they don’t agree with leftist policies. I always imagined that this is because he makes an effort to interact with all sorts of people. After the Breaking Points podcast I’m not sure that’s true.

During the show Sagar mentioned that a lot of the Trump appeal is that he infuriates the libs. Somehow this was breaking news for John.

I happen to have a bunch of Trump supporters in my life. It doesn’t take long to figure out that they are engaging in real life shit posting. Most of the time you can call them out on it and they will give you a wry smile and acknowledge that you are right.

I’m not out here changing hearts and minds. They aren’t going to change. Maybe they would if they were presented with a candidate that offered something truly different than what we have been accustomed to, but being a troll is more worthwhile than supporting a centrist.

Cringe-worthy interview this morning where every question answered by him turned into "whataboutism," Joe Biden, Obama and Hillary. He is a disgrace and still a Trump sycophant.

Thought this sub might appreciate knowing today is the 30th anniversary of the Daily Show. While it originally started with Craig Kilborn, Jon Stewart started in 1999 and absolutely crushed it.

When Jon took over in 1999, the original writing team resisted his new satirical direction and told him not to improvise, leading him to almost quit before he successfully reshaped the show. Thank god he did not.

This is an old video from 2016, but it's VERY relevant today!

I have to preface by saying that most of the time I find his commentary to be insightful....just not the one this Monday after Lindsey Graham's death.

First off, he of course, included the clip of Nancy Pelosi talking about Biden's age when Biden was kicking ass with a 50/50 Senate, more than when Obama was in office. And Biden's policy worked for young people (tuition forgiveness, extending child tax credit to lower child poverty for at least all 4 years of his term)

Secondly, our politicians are old because our electorate permitted it. All of these politicians could be voted out. People had a choice. We couldn't vote then out because... Guess what? Seniors vote reliably. Young people don't. These politicians reflect their base. Seniors!! They ain't gonna vote for young whipper snappers until the youngsters bring enough of their cohorts to the polls.

We only have ourselves to blame. Of course these politicians are not going to willingly step aside purely because of age. Who amongst us are willing to step aside when we think we are still capable? Heck, he's still hosting the show once a week!

I don't get the point of this diatribe. Bernie is not gonna step aside either when he still has the strength to get up to the podium.

All respects to Jon but it would help to analyze what we can do instead of just wishing that these guys can just leave.
