Help First year in tech

Hello, I finished my first year studying CS. My GPA is 3.6. What I learned this year was basic frontend, which feels pretty useless now, “OOP,” and “DSA,” both implemented using Java. These are what I actually learned. I also self-studied problem solving and went to 2 hackathons. I don’t know if that’s good for the first year, I’ll leave that to y’all to judge.

I want y’all’s advice. I don’t wanna waste time. What should I do to finish the second year with real benefit.

Youre doing Amazing.

Keep doing problem solving, make it your second nature

Build a simple application, try to do the following:

  1. Mobile app
  2. Website
  3. Backend hosted on a server holding APIs

Do a customer / admin experience, with APIs and a database

Make it sooo simple, anything literally, grab CityCenter website and replicate the idea on a very small scale

This will build your understanding of these things

Ye projects prolly is what Iam messing, I did an airport system using what I learned in dsa as a final project the professor gave me a full mark for it .I will turn it to an app is a good idea.

And also thank you for ur advice really helped.

Treat university as a social club. Learn on your own, by getting your hands dirty.
