Turin, 1 September 2026 – Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur FC has been reached for the temporary acquisition, until 30 June 2027, of the registration rights of player Pape Matar Sarr for a consideration of €2.5 million, with ancillary costs of €0.3 million. The agreement further entails the right and, upon the achievement of certain conditions during the 2026/2027 sporting season, the obligation for Juventus to acquire the player's registration rights. The agreed consideration for the potential definitive acquisition is €27.5 million, payable in three financial years.

Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has joined Juventus from Premier League side Tottenham.

The 23-year-old, who turns 24 later this month, arrives in Turin from England, and brings with him plenty of European experience.

Having begun his career in his native Senegal, Sarr then moved to Metz in France, and it was there that he made a name for himself at a young age and put himself on the radar of a number of European clubs. He signed with Tottenham in 2021, but remained in Ligue 1 for a season on loan.

A dynamic and versatile midfielder who boasts physicality but also brings skill and intensity in both phases of the game, Sarr gained a lot of experience in England and accumulated over 100 Premier League appearances with Spurs. He was also part of the club’s 2024/25 Europa League winning campaign.

At international level, Sarr has become a key player with Senegal, and played his part in their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations success.

Now, a new chapter awaits him in Bianconero.

We must Grant this new management for being totally new, having lots of restrictions, they did a lot of good work.

Our biggest weaknesses last season were the goalkeeper position (not Perin) and our strikers. Both areas have now been completely overhauled, so I'm really curious to see how this season goes.

I don't think last season was a complete catastrophe in terms of how we played, but the results certainly were. We simply had huge weaknesses at both ends of the pitch. Now that we've properly addressed those issues, I think this could be a really exciting season. At the same time, it's incredibly difficult to predict.

A lot of experts don't even have us finishing in the top 2 or 3, but I'm actually quite optimistic. We've addressed our biggest weaknesses and unexpectedly strengthened our midfield quite a bit with the addition of Luiz. Sarr also looks pretty promising.

Having said that, I still don't really know how to rate our mercato.

On the one hand, I think the squad is somewhere between somewhat and significantly stronger than last season. On the other hand, I'm not convinced we spent our money in the best possible way.

We spent a lot on Alajbegovic, whose main position is the same as Yildiz's, arguably our best player. We also spent nearly €20m on Ekathor, who will probably be our third choice striker.

I understand that both are seen as investments for the future, but I'm not sure spending that much on a left winger when we already have Yildiz and Boga, and on a third choice striker, was the best use of our resources.

Without those transfers, or perhaps even just one of them, we might have been able to bring in players like Kessie or Dibu. Both would have added something I still think this squad is lacking: leadership and a winning mentality.

So I have pretty mixed feelings about this mercato. I think the team itself is clearly stronger and I'm optimistic about the season, but I'm not sure the mercato was as good as it could have been.

This season feels almost impossible to predict.

Atletico is being grateful for the cheap loans of Nico Gonzalez last season, and David and Gil Puche during this transfer window.

I am trying to plan some work travel to Europe and want to line it up so that I can see a match in Torino either before/after, but it's very difficult with the fixture list somehow still unconfirmed.

Nothing I read seems conclusive as to when this decision will be locked in, so I'm not sure if I can afford to wait to see if it's Sunday or Monday, afternoon or evening, etc...

since we worked soo hard on the transfer market hopefully spalletti leads the team to the scudetto.

But jokes aside now we have a scudetto winning team spalletti has no reasons to complain about the team maybe a lb since cambiaso is out. we got 2 new strikers, gk, midfielders and maybe a lb soon and the people genuinely worked hard aswell

with this team we should be winning europa league minimum and charge for the scudetto and maybe copa italia aswl
