News This ain't Kansas

I don't know why, how, when, where or whom these people come from.. There's too many people to respond to and this is sufficient enough. This is not Kansas. This is a school that is part of the University System of Georgia. Georgia is a state. Kansas is a state. Kansas is not Georgia. Georgia is not Kansas. One is better than the other and it's not Kansas.

figuring out LIFE WOW

Hey everyone! I recently moved to Georgia and I’m at a point in my life where I really want to start doing better for myself and becoming more independent.
I’m around the Kennesaw area, and honestly, I don’t want to just work a random job, come home, and repeat the same thing every day. I want to build skills, meet people, make connections, stay mentally active, and actually become a better version of myself.
I’m looking for things like:
-Free or affordable workshops/classes
-Creative projects or community projects I can participate in
-Networking events for people who are trying to grow
-Volunteer opportunities
-Career or financial workshops
-Ways to learn new skills that could eventually make me more money
-Entrepreneurship/business opportunities
-Art, technology, writing, photography, or other creative communities
-Fitness or activities that keep me active
-Programs for young adults who are trying to get their life together
Anything around Kennesaw, Marietta, Smyrna, or Atlanta that could help me grow
My bigger goal is to work, save money, eventually get a car, pay for my own things, build a career, and become financially independent. I also want to be able to contribute more to my relationship and take care of my girlfriend sometimes—not because I feel like I have to prove anything, but because I want to be in a position where I can.
I’m also trying to become my own person. I want to have things that are mine: my own skills, accomplishments, hobbies, friends, experiences, and goals. I want to feel proud of myself and happy with who I’m becoming.
I’m not expecting someone to hand me an opportunity. I’m willing to show up, learn, work, volunteer, network, and start from the bottom. I just honestly don’t know everything that’s available around here yet.
So if you live around, what are some opportunities, organizations, events, workshops, communities, or resources that you would recommend to someone in my position?
Even if it’s something small that helped YOU get out of a rut or start building your life, I’d love to hear about it.
I’m basically trying to turn this move into a fresh start and actually do something with it
THANK YOU !!!

Career Fair

I’m going to my first career fair tomorrow. I’m really nervous and want to know as many tips as possible. I’m going for a requirement for my class so not necessarily actively searching for a job but an internship opportunity would be nice. How long do I stay? Any tips would be helpful

Quiet areas on campus???

Upvotes

BRUH before I lose my patience let me know if i’m wrong please guys. If you walk into a study area for example the ALC second floor room and it’s DEAD SILENT why are you walking in talking loud as heck or on the phone??? I know there’s no volume limit in that room but there’s only so many places we can study where it’s quiet. I can’t focus when people are talking and i don’t have fancy earphones that have noise cancellation. We all pay money here to use our resources, if yall can let me know of a place on campus that’s always quiet and (not a study room since you have to book those) I’d greatly appreciate it 💛🖤 kennesaw campus recommendations only please

Question Going into my 3rd year without actual fr friends~

sooo, how do yall make friends because im very bored and kinda anxious of being alone on campus. My friends from before either ghosted me (have other friends so they kinda forgot about me if i don’t reach out) or were just class/semester friends. I want to find my people who’d be willing to actually hangout and talk with me but I just don’t know how and it’s kind of embarrassing that it’s my 3rd year and I still don’t have an established “group” of friends 😅

I’m a bio major who’s interests are animals, anime, video games, reading, crafting (I wanna host small crafting events each year, but with who lol), fashion, photography, and simply just hanging out or going to parks.

I think i have interesting hobbies, so how do I connect with those with similar interests? let alone, make them into friends who’d like to hang out with me (without me having to reach out to do so everytime)?

(I’m a commuter but I’m 30 minutes away and on campus everyday)

Clubs The ISSA (Cybersecurity) club meets tonight at 6:30 pm Marietta Campus Atrium 113j

We love new people, and this will be our first meet of the fall, so it's a fantastic time to check us out for the first time. Experienced or newbies are welcomed equally. Our clubs focuses on cyber security or CTFs (Capture the Flags), but also do alot with learning how to do weird shit with computers.

Whether you just want to meet some tech savvy friends, or maybe learn out to start self hosting your own media servers.

We communicate via discord so even if you can't make it tonight, feel free to join us there!

What is going on at this School?

Ive been on the phone with so many offices all day, I’m a late admit and so I just signed up for what was there and got my fafsa processed same day, (August 29th) Got my award early and it covers my tuition but my classes dont count for my major so Im trying to change it and I know they can manually do it, from what Ive heard from multiple people its been done before and now the Registrar is saying they cant because Cpos wont change the Nos into Yess’ , whatever that means. So I either drop out for the semester, or pay $3000 for classes I dont need when they could js switch my major and Id be fine this is insanity. Would it be better and more productive for me to go in person, this is an urgent matter so any advice helps.

Jobs paying at least 14 an hour

Hi I’m a college student trying to pay rent and groceries. Does anyone know any places currently hiring that pay at least 14 an hour? I’ll take anything. I don’t speak Spanish, I’m undergrad, and I’m a weak girl so I can’t do any blue collar so I know I’m limited. Thank you so much in advance🙏🏽

Question Showing up at a different class time?

I’m in an earlier class and want to attend a club during my classes exact time but right after the club ends the teacher has the same class but later.

Can I show up for the second classes time and just show up at my normal class for exams.

Lecture heavy course so the only grades we have are tests.

nelnet payment plan question

So I signed up for the nelnet payment and they haven't paid toward my tuition yet but it shows that I am under that in ePay. Am I good or do I need to worry?

I emailed the bursars and I received no reply. my work hours don't line up with me trying to call them.

Here is every owl I have gotten for free from KSU over the years. (And that one time they did a Hogwarts bear for some reason) Kinda neat to see the progression over the years.

How do I get a faculty advisor for my new club (RSO)?

HI!

I'm starting a new Registered Student Organization on campus, and I somehow need to find a faculty advisor. I have NO idea where to look or how to find one?? Like, I know I have to ask them to potetionally be an advisor, and it's not like my club is weird or anything like that. Should I do anything in advance before I look for an advisor?

Sorry for my silly question. :((
