Xi, white rock and fteri possible in one day?

Thought we spend our last day beach hopping, was wondering if it possible to do all these top beaches in a day with either a tour or boat rental.

If not which one to skip?

Staying in argostoli.

Also have some time to kill this afternoon so maybe a quick bout taxi to xi/white rock today and fteri tomorrow?

What do you do with your belongings at the beach?

Question for fellow solo travelers: when you’re at the beach by yourself, what do you usually do with your belongings when you want to go for a swim?

I am thinking about things like your phone, camera, wallet, keys, etc. Do you bring a waterproof pouch into the water, leave everything on the beach somehow? or have other workarounds?

Would love to hear what’s worked for you, especially if you travel with a camera. Thanks.

Ithaca day tour August 27th/28th

Really last minute but I'm wondering if anyone here knows of good tour options to see the ancient ruins and such on Ithaca this Thursday or Friday. Would accept anyone willing to drive my girlfriend and I around for half a day. We don't have a car.

Staying in Lixouri with the missus and I've claimed Friday as my day to go see some interesting historical sites but tomorrow would work as well. If anyone knows a good option I'd appreciate the input. Thanks!

Doubs Argostolion and Fteri

Hello, guys.

Read through the sub and was able to create my itinerary. Thanks a lot for everyone participating.

I am left with two questions:

1) Any recommended spots to park safely in Argostolion to walk around the city center?

2) Is the Fteri beach trail that hard? Me and my girlfriend are used to do trails back home, but we don't want to get lost. In Corfu couple years ago we did a trail to a beach that we had to come down on a rope so we would like to avoid that experience again.

My itinerary is the following:

Day 1 — 3 Sep

  • Agios Thomas
  • Avithos / Pessada
  • Argostoli

Day 2 — 4 Sep

  • Myrtos
  • Assos Beach
  • Assos

Day 3 — 5 Sep

  • Agia Eleni
  • Petani beach

Day 4 — 6 Sep

  • Antisamos beach
  • Agia Efimia
  • Fiskardo

Day 5 — 7 Sep

  • Fteri
  • Zola / Agia Kyriaki

Day 6 — 8 Sep

  • Xi
  • Vatsa / Paralia Betania

Day 7 — 9 Sep

  • Chorgota
  • Koroni
  • Argostoli

Any tips on doing a day of sightseeing; from melissani cave to myrtos beach? When to go and full tour vs car rental/cab

My and my gf are there 31 aug to 3rd sep, and were thinking of doing a full tour; doing the melissani cave, the drogorati one maybe, and finishing on myrtos beach.

We can see there are some tours that do all in one that aren’t too crazy expensive. Is it worth to do this vs taking a car? Seems a little more hassle free but I’m thinking that maybe it’s rushed and in peak hours? I might want to stay on the beach more than 45 minutes…

Do these tours give any sort of queue priority at least so we don’t have to wait an hour by the caves?

Taxi seems least optimal for hopping around, especially to get a hold of one at the caves…

If anyone has a specific company or booking place to recommend I’d love that too!

(Or if anyone is traveling that route or is a local and and wants to show us around and make two new friends/or some Euro—that works too :D)

Mother’s 60th bday

Hi all,

Very excited to plan our 7 day trip to Kefalonia. My friend who is from Preveza recommended this beautiful island.

We are coming from NYC - me, my wife, 2.5 yr old and parents for my mother’s 60th bday.

Given that we have some older ppl and very young one in our group, would you recommend staying in one place (a base) and traveling around daily or is it wiser to stay 1-2 days in each town?

Thus far, I am considering, argostolion and lassi for first 2-3 days to relax after a long trip, making our way to Assos for a day, fiskardo for 2 days and Sami to round out the trip. What do you think?

I want to make this trip special for my mother - so was considering white rocks resort in Lassi and emelisse in fiskardo. Feel free to influence or de-influence me.

I am so excited and can barely wait for next June. TIA!

Marriage proposal in Kefalonia

Hello guys!

Going to Greece for the third year in a row and this year we chose Kefalonia. I love to propose to my life partner in Kefalonia as Greece is our favorite place in the world. Since i've never been to the island, im looking at places to propose. I would like to propose in a beautiful scenary, but I know she would want for it to not be packed with people as we are both reserved.

Since I've never been to Kefalonia its hard for me to choose something. The only place that stood out was the Agrilia Monastery in Sami. Do you guys have any other recommendations?

Thanks so much in advance!!

Edit: we're going first 2 weeks of september :)

Good food and wine shops near Fiskardo/Agia Effimia?

Hi,

Staying in both Fiskardo and Agia Effimia. Would quite like the possibility of stocking up on some decent snacks and certainly some good wine - any shops/grocery stores for slightly more artisanal food choices than your standard village shop?

I'm driving from the airport to Fiskardo so any en route would also suit.

Thanks!

Sami recommendations

Hi,

We are staying a couple of hundred yards along the beach from Sami from 27th Sept for a week and I'm looking for restaurant/bar recommendations.

We have car to explore the island in the mornings and early afternoons on a few days, but want to spend our evenings pottering along the beach into Sami to enjoy the best of the local cuisine and drinks most evenings.

(No plans to drive in the evenings, so we can enjoy a beer or two).

Tell me the bars/restaurants with great local food and a relaxed atmosphere we absolutely can not miss.

We're not too bothered about cost, it's the quality and feel of staying for a few hours to lose ourselves in the ambience, before strolling home along the beach?

Thanks

Ferry from Argostoli to Lixouri

Staying ten mins outside of Lixouri. Is it worth taking the ferry across when driving round the island how much time do you actually save after waiting for the ferry, boarding and departing etc... how much time would you save compared to driving Argostoli to Lixouri?

Voi amanti di Cefalonia, vediamo se riconoscete questa chiesa. Ieri è stato il Santo patrono di Cefalonia e la chiesa era piena di gente. Nei dintorni c'era anche una grande sagra. Vediamo se indovinate.

Authentic cafes and restaurants near Metaxata+vegetarian options?

Hello everyone!
We have just booked our vacation to Kefalonia in about 3 weeks. Our acommodation is in Metaxata (everything seems to be 10 minutes away!) and we are very much looking forward to it!
So I wanted to ask regarding some good tavernas in that general neigborhood (withon 15-20 minutes by car) that are bit more peaceful and authentic- we are absolutely looking for food that tastes like home-made in a restaurant that ist nit completely overrun by tourists. In Cyprus we loved driving up to the mountain villages for the best food- it was just us, 2 more people, some cats, a donkey nearby and a grandma in the kitchen and the best food ever at a reasonable price. Is there such a thing nearby? Also since my GF is vegetarian any recommendations for restaurants with a solid vegetarian menu would be very welcome!
Efharisto and a nice day to you!
