Travel | Саякат Visa Free Entry using US B1 Visa?

Upvotes

Hi, I am an Indian national with a B1 visa. I can see the Indian Embassy has published (but back in 2023) that Indians with UK/US/Schengen visa with atleast 3 year validity and the visa is on the current passport, then they are eligible for 7 day visa free entry, provided they enter from the Manas International Airport.

Note: I haven't used this US visa yet, as in I haven't travelled to the US yet.

Now I tried contacting the Kyrgyzstan Visa Center, they are directing me to Border Control and other departments as they are unsure and I am yet to receive a clear answer. I did apply for evisa as a back up as I am slightly worried that I won't get it back on time or it might get rejected.

Did anyone get in using this route recently?

Travel | Саякат Tourist stole camping gear from hostel in Karakol

Hi Guys

Some days ago a user did a post and was accusing a hostel of scamming him by saying he ows them money even though he paid. Police was mentioned as well.

I am a friend of the owner and happened to help around the hostel a bit. I checked him in two times he stayed here and was also present when he left with the camping gear. This is what happened..

He booked normally two times on booking.com. First night in the dorm, second time, a couple of days later, a privat room with a friend. He paid chash both times, so no problem with the stay at all.

After the second stay, at the check out day he decided to rent some gear from us for hiking. (1 sleeping bag, 2 mats ). He said for about 3-5 days. The owner was not there in the morning and i had to catch a bus to Almaty so I wrote it down, without him paying up front. As he left some bagback in the hostel, I didn't think anything of it.

Fast forward almost 3 weeks, he was still gone with the camping equipment, and would only reply to the owner when she mentioned the police.

He said he was in Naryn, but only had one sleeping bag. He would return to karakol within a week. (which was also a lie) Later he admitted to have also 1 mat, even though he took 2 mats.

To this day, he still hasn't paid yet, but left the camping gear at a random guesthouse in issykul. He is owing the hostel roughly 12'000 som.

He is a liar and a thief. The hostel is legit and pays all the taxes and commissions.

Just felt the need to clarify what really happened.

Connect | Туташ Alay valley trek

My boyfriend and I (both from the Netherlands) are looking for people to join us for a 5 or 6 day trek through the Alay Valley, starting around September 6th (September 5th or 7th also works for us).

We’re still deciding between doing a guided tour and staying in yurts, or bringing our own tent and food and doing the trek independently.

Does anyone want to join us for a trekking adventure? :)

Is it customary to tip tour guides? In my experience, that hasn't really been required/expected in other countries I visited.

But on their site it shows gratuity not included?

Announcement | Кулактандыруу A few weeks ago I asked you to help test my Kyrgyz learning app. It’s now live on Android!

Салам баарыңыздарга!

A few weeks ago I posted here about Söz, an app I’m building for learning Kyrgyz.

A lot of people asked when the Android version would be available, and later some of you joined the closed test and helped me find bugs and improve the app.

So I’m really happy to finally say that Söz is now officially available on Google Play!

I originally started building Söz because, even though I understand Kyrgyz quite well, I sometimes struggle to speak confidently and find the right words. I wanted something I could use regularly without it feeling like a traditional language course.

Söz includes a personalized feed with Kyrgyz words, phrases and examples, spaced-repetition practice, exercises and games, themed collections, and a home-screen widget for learning throughout the day.

I also tried to make the Android version feel like a proper Android app rather than simply copying the iOS version.

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emirmalik.soz

iOS:
https://apps.apple.com/kg/app/s%C3%B6z-learn-kyrgyz/id6766406931

And to everyone here who tested the Android version or commented that they were waiting for it: чоң рахмат!

This is still a small project and I’m continuing to work on it, so if you try it, I’d genuinely love to hear what you think especially what feels confusing, what’s missing, or what you’d like to see next.

Question | Суроо 29(M) and 31(F) traveling to Kyrgyzstan - 11 days (September)

Hello everyone! My wife and are very excited to be traveling to Kyrg. We want to see as much as the country as possible within a 8 days period (after we spend 3 days in Bishkek). Our biggest objective is to do a horseback riding trek/excursion for 3-4 days.

Our question is whether or not we should hire a guide with a car for all 8 days or if we should instead rent our own 4x4 and book a horseback riding service separately.

For context, we are doing a world trip and are budget traveling. We have experience driving on mountain/dirt roads but we are nervous the roads in Kyrg may be too difficult. Any suggestions/advice would be amazing! Thank you for reading.
