I'm starting Langara for the first time next week. I hand write all of my notes and plan to do digital assignments at home, but would I actually need to take my laptop with me to class?

Hello! I am currently waitlisted for 1171 with Belchev. I am pretty high on the list and most likely not getting in this semester. Should I take 1173 with Athena instead? It has two spots available. I do not want to take it with Jae-Hyung Jang which is why I’ve been holding out for a better professor, especially as a 31 year old returning to school after more than a decade. My goal is to transfer to UBC for a BSc in Mathematical Science so taking calculus is obviously a non negotiable and I’d prefer to get it done this semester. Are the two classes mostly similar or will it cause problems for me down the line?

Has anyone taken BUSM 1500 (Business Presentation Skills), specifically with Kenneth Wong?
I have to take it but I have pretty bad anxiety around presentations/public speaking 😭

I’d really appreciate some insight from people who have taken this course. What is it like? How many presentations did you do? Are they mostly group or individual presentations?

I’m really nervous and this may seem silly but I’m overwhelmed, so I’ll just list my questions here and if you have any advice or answers please help!

Do I need to buy textbooks prior to my first psych class?

Is there anything I should do before my first day?

Also what should I bring on my first day I’m just nervous and I don’t want to show up and be unprepared or maybe too prepared like would pen and paper work or laptop?

I feel these are obvious and dumb questions but I would really appreciate any help/advice.

Does anyone know how long it will take for Langara to process my graduation? I recently finished a short term certificate and paid 25 frickin dollars to APPLY for the certificate and honestly I’m starting to get really annoyed 🤦‍♀️

I'm in my first year of college, and lately I feel like I know absolutely nothing. It seems like everyone around me understands the material better, asks smarter questions, and has their life figured out, while I'm struggling to keep up. The weird part is that I'm actually doing well in my courses and passing my classes. But even when I get decent grades, I still feel like I have no idea what I've learned. After finishing a course, it feels like I've forgotten most of it or never fully understood it in the first place.

For those who have been through college already, did you feel this way during your first year? Did your confidence and understanding improve over time? What helped you feel like you actually knew what you were doing?

Does anyone here been on second academic suspension and i just wanted to see if there is any way that langara would reconsider into taking me in this semester as due to my mental health it was hard for me to focus but I really wanna get back in langara because I am an international student and my status is at risk here

I'm going into psychology at Langara which requires 9 science credits of first year classes: a lab science, math/computer science/statistics, and PSYC 2321. My friend who is attending UBC told me that she needs only 6 science credits and doesn't require a lab science. I'm in the bachelor of arts so why do I require lab science credit? I plan on transferring to UBC anyways so it seems unnecessary. Is there something I'm missing?

I'm taking ENGL 1100 in fall semester along with four other courses. I have a habit of prioritizing other classes over English and I'm worried about this semester since it's supposed to be a writing intensive course. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to really put effort into essays while dealing with four other courses. I want to do well but I also don't see English as super important since it's a required course and I'm focusing on major related courses instead. I have two first year psychology courses, geology, and a philosophy course as well. Would it be so terrible if I didn't put everything into English or do I really need to work my butt off for it?

I have 4 courses registered at the moment for the fall semester, biol 1190, stats 1124, engl 1123 and engl 1129. I’m completing my prerequisites for nursing and was wondering if I should only do 1 english per semester. How hard were the english courses and do they cost a fee? (Not sure bc the additional fees section was blank)
