Offering: English 英語 Seeking: 日本語 Japanese

Hello, I am a 34 year old English guy originally from London, currently living in York.

Up until recently I was learning Japanese mostly for fun, but I have a job offer in Japan so I have been taking my studies seriously recently and really want to get better at speaking as that is my main weakness.

Some of the things I'm interested in are gaming, playing guitar, cooking, hiking, motorbikes, history, and I have recently started to learn about programming as a hobby.

Offering: Mandarin Chinese | Seeking: English (London, in person)

Hi! I’m a native Mandarin speaker and a dentistry PhD student at King’s College London. I’m looking for a native English speaker for an in-person language exchange and hopefully a new friend in London. 😊
English is now my working language, so I’d really like to improve my speaking fluency, pronunciation, and natural expressions. I’d especially appreciate someone who is happy to correct my grammar, pronunciation, or tell me how a native speaker would say something more naturally.
In return, I’d be very happy to help you with Mandarin, pronunciation, everyday expressions, and Chinese culture.
A little about me: I’m a qualified dentist in China and did my Master’s at Peking University, where I worked on biomaterials and biomedical engineering. Now my PhD research involves AI and protein research. I’m also from the Miao ethnic group, so I’d be happy to share more about that side of Chinese culture too.
I’m friendly, curious, and quite outgoing. I have a cat 🐱 and enjoy hiking, films, musicals, museums, galleries, parks, and city walks. Since I’m still exploring London, meeting for coffee, a walk, or a museum visit would be great!
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me and tell me a little about yourself. 😊

Seeking: Japanese (Native), Spanish, or Chinese Offering: English (Native) and Japanese (proficient)

I have no problem having daily conversations in japanese, but when it comes to more complicates convos, such as conveying complicated ideas, I struggle.

As for Spanish and Chinese I’m basically just starting out. I know like a couple words but that’s it.

I’d be down to find people who are learning Spanish or Chinese like me.

I do best when people give feedback instantly! Would love to talk anything from movies, anime, shows to more serious topics once I start to be more advanced in Spanish

I’m a native Chinese speaker, 35F. And I’m looking for an English speaking language exchange partner. I’d love to find someone who is interested in voice call so we can practice and improve together.

We can talk about pretty much anything, such as travel, culture, hobbies, interesting experiences, or simply whatever we feel like talking about. I’m also happy to find some materials and study together.

I’d especially like to focus on improving our speaking skills, and I would really appreciate it if we could kindly correct each other’s mistakes, whether it’s grammar, pronunciation, or a more natural way of expressing something. Of course, I’d be more than happy to do the same for you with Mandarin.

I’d appreciate someone who is respectful, open-minded, and patient with each other’s mistakes, so we can both feel comfortable practicing and improving.

If you’re interested, feel free to send me a message! 😊

Offering: Chinese(native), English(fluent) | Seeking: English(native), Spanish(native) | slangs | friendship

Hi! I’m 24 male from China. Currently I’ve been in United States for two years but still find it hard to communicate with people who speak native English.

I can speak English fluently but the thing is: natives are kind of polite to me when they find me a foreigner and I never have a chance to understand the way they talk to their native friends. I don’t like this kind of double standards. It made me feel that I’m learning some ‘standard’ English which is not the way it should be used in daily life.

I’ve been a teaching assistant for Chinese courses in college. I have a passion to give an explanation of something which is unconsciously used but hard to explain to learner in grammar.

I hope to make a friend with a native so that I don’t need to take an ESL class again.

Hey there! My name is Sophie (ソフィー), I’m 38 yrs old and from the UK. This is the first time I have attempted a language exchange, not sure really what to expect but thought I would give it a go and see if anyone was interested!

I have been studying Japanese for just over 2 years now via weekly online classes. The lessons mostly follow the みんなの日本語 textbook and I am currently about half way through Shokyuu 1 for N5. I’m looking for someone I can practice speaking and listening with to help improve my Japanese and my confidence in speaking 😊

Little bit about me:
I’m a big nerd 😂 I love playing video games, all different genres, and my favourite games are the Nier, Final Fantasy and Call of Duty series, plus many others 😅 I am a fan of manga and anime! I am also learning to play the cello.

I live at home with my husband, my dog and 5 cats. I work in a bank as a financial crime risk manager which can be very interesting!

If you are interested in having a chat to see if we can help each other then please reach out!

Thanks for reading and have a nice day 😊

Hey everyone!

I’m 23M from Europe and I’m looking for someone to practice Turkish with. In return I can help you with your English and/or Dutch.

I’d like to improve my Turkish mainly through casual conversations and everyday topics rather than formal lessons. We can chat regularly, correct each other when needed, and keep things relaxed.
I’m open to texting, voice messages, and eventually voice calls if we’re both comfortable.

If you’re a Turkish speaker looking to improve your English, feel free to send me a message!

Offering: Spanish (native) | Seeking: English

Hi everyone! I'm a native Spanish speaker from Costa Rica, and I'm looking for someone to practice English with.

I'm currently around B2 level and I'm still studying English. I'm also preparing for the TOEIC, but one of the things I struggle with the most is speaking. I tend to get nervous when speaking, especially in real-time conversations, so I'd really like to become more confident and fluent.

I'm mainly interested in:

  • Chatting and texting
  • Voice calls or video calls
  • Helping each other correct mistakes and improve naturally

I'm happy to help you with Spanish in return, whether you're a beginner or already have some experience.

I'm interested in videoganes, anime, computers, fitness, movies/TV shows, and just learning about other people's countries and cultures. I'm open to pretty much any topic, though!

I'm looking for someone who is also serious about improving their language skills, but there's no pressure to have perfect conversations. I'd rather make mistakes and learn than worry about saying everything correctly.

If you're interested, feel free to send me a message! :)

Hi! I’m an American professional living in the U.S. and looking for a language exchange partner to practice Portuguese with. 🇧🇷🇺🇸

I’m looking for someone who enjoys good conversation and would be interested in practicing regularly. We can split our time between Portuguese and English so that we both have a chance to learn and improve.

If you're interested, send me a message! 😊

Offering: Russian (Native), English (B2-C1), Slovak (B2) Seeking: Mandarin Chinese, English, Slovak

Hi!

I’m 21 yo shy introvert from Ukraine, currently studying Electrical Engineering in Slovakia. I can help you practice Russian and Ukrainian (Native), as well as Slovak (B1–B2).

My English level is around B2–C1. I lack confidence and speaking practice, so I’m not sure I can (or even able to) correct your mistakes - but I believe that by having conversations on different topics, we can help each other improve our speaking a lot.

About 5 - 6 months ago I started learning Mandarin Chinese, which is one of my main interest ever since. I’m still a complete beginner and I seek for a little help from experienced learners or native speakers with tones and vocabulary.

My main interests include music (I play guitar and like Western metal and rock, as well as some Japanese music), films and animation (American, Soviet, and Japanese), computer games (although, i'm not hardcore gamer), history and philosophy (I'm not a philosophy major, but I was captivated by Plato, Nietzsche, and Schopenhauer, so I’d be happy to discuss anything related to the subject).

I hope I can be an interesting conversation partner - at least, that’s what my friends say. My range of interests may not be very wide, but I try to be curious about everything.

*Lastly, I’m looking for someone who also values meaningful conversations and is open to the idea of speaking practice, as I believe it’s one of the most effective ways to improve your language skills.*

Feel free to reach out if you think we share similar goals!

Hey everyone! I'm Marina, 21, from Russia.

My English is okay, but I desperately need more speaking practice, so I'm hoping to find someone cool to chat with regularly. We can talk about random stuff, share hobbies, whatever—I just wanna get more comfortable speaking. In return, I can totally help you with Russian, whether it's grammar, vocabulary, or just casual conversation.

A bit about me: I love languages and child psychology (3rd year ped uni done!). I'm also a good listener and always down to learn new things.

I'm open to texting, and if possible, we could also do voice calls from time to time—whatever feels comfortable for both of us!

Hope you're all having a great day!

Offering: English (US) Seeking: German (DE)

Hi! I’m 34F looking for another woman around my age who would like to perfect their English in exchange with helping me practice my German. I recently moved from the US to Germany. I’m not exactly a tutor but I can help explain most grammar concepts and work with you on your spoken/written English. Ideally we switch between the two on different days so I can work on my German, I am at a decent level but struggle with speaking and need to just brute force it out 🥲

Hobbies include gaming, crafts, travel, music, and technology. Prefer to use discord if possible.

Offering: Spanish (Spain) and Catalan | Seeking: Portuguese (Portugal)

Hi there,

I'm planning to take the Portuguese C2 test next year but my main problem is procrastination. I'd like to find a native Portuguese to help me with my writing and pronunciation. I offer in return to help with Spanish or Catalan. I'm a native speaker of both languages and have a degree in Philology, aka no problem with any question you may have about obscure grammar points.

21M | China | Looking for a long-term language exchange in email.

Hi! I’m 21M, originally from Beijing and currently living in Hefei, China. I’m an undergraduate studying Artificial Intelligence.

I’d really like to meet someone who’s interested in a Chinese–English language exchange here. My English is already pretty good, so I’m not really looking for formal lessons or grammar practice. I’d rather just write naturally, help each other with expressions and slang when needed, and learn more about how people actually speak and think in each language.

Specifically, I’m looking for someone to exchange emails with and hopefully build a long-term friendship. I prefer actual emails over instant messaging — longer messages, random thoughts, stories about everyday life, and no pressure to reply immediately. That said, if you strongly prefer using an instant messaging app, I’m fine with that too.

A bit about me: I’m really into photography, rock, rap and punk music, movies, and computer games. I also enjoy talking about technology, F1, cars and racing and relevant culture, internet culture, linguistics, memes, tv shows, board games, music scenes, university life, or just whatever strange topic comes up.

I’m open to people from anywhere in the world. I’m not expecting any kind of formal teaching. I’d prefer something platonic and long-term , someone who wants to improve together through regular conversations, with both of us helping each other along the way, rather than a few messages that disappear after a few days.

If any of this sounds interesting, feel free to send me a message and tell me a little about yourself. If we get along, we can move to email.

Offering: Hebrew | Seeking: Dutch

Hey

I'm an immigrant in The Netherlands, living in Amsterdam. I've been here for about two years, and during that time I've made OK progress with Dutch - working my way through books and TV series and other things. I am however starting to reach a point of diminishing returns, as I do not have anyone to really actively take the time to speak Dutch with me.

What I offer is Modern Hebrew. In terms of background, I grew up speaking Hebrew, did most of my education in the language (up to my bachelor's), and still speak Hebrew with (most of) my family, as well as at home. I admit that I haven't taught it yet, but I think I'm aware enough of the language and have enough Hebrew linguistics knowledge for this to work.

If you're just starting, we can work with a textbook and get the basics out of the way. If you're more advanced, for all I care we can talk and I can offer corrections, advice, etc.

(Note: If you're looking for other forms of Hebrew, I can help you to some extent, but do keep in mind that they are not completely intelligible to me)

About me: I am a man in my 30s, interested in linguistics, local history and computer stuff among many other subjects.

How I imagine this sort of exchange:

  • You are a first-language Dutch speaker (or equivalent), but can also explain certain things when needed
  • You're you converse with me about random subjects (without falling back to English!)
  • I will offer whatever support you need, depending on your status/goal.
  • We do one session, half in Hebrew, half in Dutch, or conversely we do one at a time?
  • Maybe we even meet in person in or around the wonderful city of Amsterdam?

Let me know if this is interesting to you I suppose :)
