Hi!! As the title says, I’m basically a bit shy. I’m an outsider, so I have a different culture from the people around here. I’ve tried dating apps, but it feels like they’re mostly just hookups and people who don’t take things seriously.

I’ve also tried going out to the mall, but I don’t want to accidentally start talking to someone from high school or something xd.

I’m in my last teenage year, so I can’t really go to bars. I’m also not particularly interested in drinking anyway.

It’s hard for me because I feel lonely, but at the same time, I don’t want to get distracted from my studies. Sometimes I get desperate.

I’m moving to the area for a new job. I’ve lived in the Lower Valley and Houston, and I’m pretty comfortable in new places/around new people. I love food, music (drummer), sports (volleyball and basketball) and history! I’m in my mid-20s and don’t know many people outside of a few relatives in the area, so I figured I’d ask y’all about your city.

Do y’all have any favorite restaurants, bars, gyms, places to play volleyball/basketball, live music spots, or just general recommendations for someone new to Laredo? Hidden gems are especially welcome :D

I went today and legit had a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend it, it’s cheap actually it’s 8$ for a regular pc for 1 hour and 10$ for a premium pc for 1 hour, they are nice mid/entry levels pc (i5 i don’t remeber what gen and a Rtx 5060 ti 8gb) so I think the price is fair and I stayed playing Cs2 no slow down no nothin, I would really love to go with my buddies to do a halo mcc lan party but i did not asked the guy over there if I could log in with my steam acc and download a game. When I went I was the only one kinda made fell bad but legit it’s so worth it I think people can go with their friends and play some lan type games idk lol

Last year, I had found out about the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority grants being used by Laredo to pay for the Flock cameras being installed here. But new reporting by the Texas Tribune shows our police chief is likely the architect of the funding scheme being used to setup Flock cameras across the whole state.

Now that Governor Abbott has seen that this is a contentious issue that may affect him in the statewide election, he has decided to eliminate the grants from the MVCPA that Laredo is using to pay. We need to put pressure on the City Council to not renew the contracts using city or federal funds once the state funding lapses. The chief has already used police funds to pay for the gunshot detection mics and convinced two councilman to use their discretionary funds to supplement the contract with more mics.

This reporting to me suggests that Chief is in the pocket of the Flock lobbyists in the way he has pursued getting so many of their products installed here in Laredo and enabling ways to get them installed throughout the rest of TX. I assume he will keep pushing to maintain these contracts. Also, I have been told from an officer inside LPD that our Flock data is not being shared to outside agencies. But seeing how involved the Chief is with the whole Flock issue, I don't see how that could be remotely true.

Is this the reason why Laredo TX is known as the city that never sleeps?

I want to try a New Sushi Place , my go to is Fussion Sushi by Mcpherson .... but the last 2 times i went it gave me a very bad stomach bug ... the sushi did not taste bad .

I like it because is Good and affordable but i dont feel safe eating there anymore.

Last time i went to heb and .... its expensive and not good , i cant justify paying 20 plus dlls for a roll and a side salad ...

Get the people to focus on Data Centers, misdirect any attention for Flock or the water deal with the local families by doing town halls in data centers. It’s like holding town halls for the chupacabra, not the real issues. The article is just more facts that the data center is not for Laredo. I wonder how many elected officials will include “I voted for flock” on their campaigns?
