Found out this morning my role was eliminated and my team distributed to other leaders. It technically wasn’t performance based, but I can see looking back that I failed at playing the game and my boss was taking credit for everything I brought to the table rather than advocating for me like they said they were.

Trying to see it as a blessing in disguise because I was burnt out and trying to leave anyway, but really struggling with the feeling of doom re:difficulty of the job market and just general feelings of failure. Anyone have any tips or strategies that have helped?

I received a meeting invite at 3:30 pm today for tomorrow at 8:00 am titled, "Team Update - MUST ATTEND" from my normally very chill manager. All of his direct reports (about 10 of us) are invited. There is no one else invited (his direct reports' reports, HR, people from other teams).

My company has had TONS of layoffs (big and small) over the last few years. What do you think the odds are that I'm getting let go? I'm an individual contributor, been with the company about twelve years, and am a senior principal engineer.

2nd wave of RIF’s for American jobs- they’re being shipped offshore where they can pay pennies on the dollar for sub par work. The amount of knowledge they are letting walk out just to save a few dollars is mind boggling. Canceling stateside jobs and healthcare benefits for their own customers. We aren’t mad enough.

I'm a CRM builder and customizer for 15 years. I've even done things for a fortune 100 became an executive of one once and worked for big names like windex, home depot, etc. Sadly during some weird economic times and underpaid etc. Well it seemed to be turning around when I worked in construction materials, then I found myself working for big brand salt company making okay cash - but these guys hired me FTE just to ignore everything I suggested. Like architecture and such - eventually I had far too much access into their mining systems, demurage processes, compensation, and capex opex systems they ultimately decided they didnt want someone internal with that much access suddenly about 1.5 years in - i think probably because of audits as they just took out a loan for the entire company's value they bought for 5 years ago. Stinking private equity.

Honestly I don't really care about my career in the prestige way or such...honestly this point i just want to live or have cash. But man all these jobs now are for 1 year turn around or 6 months and im like dude....who on earth can accomplish the desires of these company in 1 year turn around as a 1 man band? 😆 . Honestly it just is getting absurd out there. Then these companies won't hire me as contract because they want me 100% theirs to then just squash or harass me. Lol. Honestly id make my own firm but all my capital is in portfolios 😆.

What the hell do we do? Lol im working on more certs but probably won't matter much. Next round lol.

With all the recent layoffs, I wanted to share this in case it’s of interest to anyone here.

Laid off in July 2026 after 2 years with prev company. Total ~8 years work experience, of which 4 years in my current field (Customer success, account management).

Have been applying actively for the past 2 months or so and landed a bunch of first round interviews, but nothing past round 2 unfortunately. I’m noticing now that most of the jobs are paying approx 40-60% of my last drawn, which means I’d likely have to take a pay cut of 40% upwards.

Spoke with some friends in recruitment, they strongly advised against taking anything more than a 5-10% pay cut in my next role if possible (i.e if I’m not desperate for a job and my financial situation would allow for it). But after throwing my applications out and seeing how bleak the job market seems to be, I’m feeling like this isn’t possible at all. Any advice on what to expect? Should I take the first offer that comes my way?

I received notice today that my end date with the company will October 1st. I work for a major healthcare company in the US. Been at the company for 3 1/2 years. The writing was on the wall for about two months. Daily meetings were canceled, managers going radio silent and just a lower morale among the team. Also, less assignments and no 1:1’s. This is not my first rodeo. I was laid off from a different company four years ago. The economy is worse now. The writing is always on the wall before a layoff. I wish everyone luck in their endeavors.

Same story as everybody else. I've been working for them for 4 years. No warning. Just an email first thing in the morning after not being able to get in to the clock-in app. There was a meeting an hour later where they basically just told us "sorry, good luck. " No real explanation given.

Forgive the rant, I am just upset.

I do marketing for a recruiting company and as of late no recruiters are making placements! There was a massive increase in recruiters joining the company, but now the company is struggling...but marketing had to get cut. Not the newbies who joined a month ago, but the marketing team.

Probably going to get people in the comments saying oh your marketing clearly wasn't good enough... there are recruiters in the company that have been there for a year and only made 1 placement. I have grown their socials, done brand relaunches and website launch

My girlfriend (24F) got laid off around 2 months ago and she’s been pretty down since. She works in HR and I’m 24M working as a software engineer so honestly I don’t really know what the job market/process is like in her field.

She doesn’t like it when I bring up applying, send her jobs or ask how the search is going, so I’ve stopped doing that. She doesnt want me to help her with rent or groceries.

She’s still sad a lot of the time and sometimes says I wouldn’t understand what she’s going through. I just don’t really know what I’m supposed to do besides be there for her. We dont live together and I can only visit her on weekend, or sometimes after office.

I was recently laid off on Friday. I worked for a company where I liked my boss and coworkers. These are the kind of coworkers who are rare to find and genuinely pleasant to work with. Plus, I like the work I did. I am surprised at how much I am mentally struggling since the lay off and having to adjust to a new routine. The day I got laid off, I actually had an interview already scheduled with another company. Normally, I am fairly good at interviewing and conveying my capabilities and value, but today was definitely not my best work. I am worried about finding another job in this market and struggle with the unknown despite feeling like I have a solid job search strategy in place. I keep trying to find the silver lining but feels impossible even though I have been job searching way less than others. Over the past month and half I have landed at least 6 interviews, including one with a hiring manager. I have decided that I am going to get out of the house for a bit tomorrow. I am hoping something will come up soon. What have others done to cope mentally with a lay off?

I was recently impacted by a layoff. My company placed everyone on a non-working notice period, meaning I am still on payroll with a termination date in October.

Need some advice on how to handle this during my job search:

• Interview Questions: How should I answer "Are you still with XYZ?" or "Why are you leaving?"
• Background Check: What shows up during the check since I'm technically still on payroll
• Start Dates: If I get an offer that starts before October, do I need to inform my current employer? Can I just provide my current paystubs to the new company as proof of employment?

I want to be honest but don't want to volunteer unnecessary details that might hurt my chances.
