It was advertised as 'Dedicated parking with EV charging', they've now emailed round saying our chargers are installed and ready - and that they're being managed through some third party management system.

They've set the price at 50% more than my electric tariff for my flat, and we have to pay either a monthly subscription fee + 5% or 10% fees.

No management company was ever mentioned, and i got the impression I'd have a charger I could arrange my own tariff and charging for.

Is there any scope for misrepresention here?

I paid my car tax today since I didn't get a reminder letter like I usually do. I realise now it's because my logbook address didn't update when I updated my driving license when I moved last year. I didn't realise that I had to tell the DVLA twice, however I didn't get an email reminder either, so I have been late paying. I also know the person who lives in my old house who gives me any post that turns up there and it doesn't seem I received a letter.

It was due on the 1st August and I paid it today. I actually haven't driven it for a while and where I live is on a private estate. I obviously haven't heard anything yet but I'm not sure what kind of fine I could be expecting.

I have lived in a block of flats for about 2 years now with no issues., I smoke on my balcony sometimes. Recently learned that smoking isn’t allowed anywhere in the building, even on the balconies (this is not in my tenancy agreement).

Downstairs neighbour angrily knocked on my door a few weeks ago to complain that I had dropped cigarette butts and ash on their balcony. Fair enough, that wasn’t cool of me and I should’ve been more mindful of where I was ashing etc.

However, they also complained to the building manager who sent me a warning email. A few weeks later, I receive a call and an email letting me know that I’m on my last warning and that they will report me for anti social behaviour because I have been smoking on the balcony. They also informed me that they “have cameras all over the building” and “know what I’m doing” and suggested that I was doing drugs?? Apparently my neighbour made multiple complaints in one week.

I didn’t realise that it was the smoking itself that the neighbour was angry about as they did not voice this when they attended my flat. Also, several other people in the building also smoke so I never saw it as a big deal.

My question really is, can I be kicked out for this? I have stopped smoking on my balcony but I am worried that the neighbour now has a vendetta - mainly because I wasn’t even home at least one of the times that they complained. Can the building manager kick me out without explicit evidence that I have even been smoking? And when it is not mentioned in my tenancy agreement?

This happened in England. I got a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) from the police — so presumably a public dashcam/ citizen submission) for "driving without due care and attention" on a residential street. Here's what actually happened:

I was doing about 10-15 mph on a side road. Ahead of me was another car, and ahead of that car were two kids (maybe 10 years old) on bikes who'd pulled over by the kerb. The car in front of me stopped in a weird spot with its left indicator on. Since it was stationary and the road was clear, I overtook it carefully.

That's when it went sideways. The other driver started following me aggressively for about 15 minutes — flashing his high beams, swerving around me, trying to cut me off and force me to stop. I just kept driving, trying to get somewhere public, until I reached a roundabout and pulled into a car park.
He got out, stormed up to my car, started banging on the window, and tried to force the door open.
Then he reached in, grabbed me, and pushed me. I pushed him back and then realised his wife started filming at some point, but only caught the tail end - none of the 15-minute pursuit or the initial assault is on video. So the footage that presumably got sent in makes it look like the incident starts and ends at the overtake.

My question is what do I do, how do I defend myself to not get points and fine etc. any advice?

Ive posted before about a mates situation and his previous bail conditions. He had asked me to support him during a bail appointment but this never happened.
Anyway his bail conditions were ended in January but he remained under investigation (I reckon the investigating officer was also very naughty as they continued to email him monthly that the bail had been extended from January until May) - for an incident in which resulted in one person losing their life and the offender has been sentenced.

On Thursday last week the investigating officer contacted him and invited him to a voluntary interview on this coming Thursday. At present he is on a voluntary hospital admission due to trying to end his life again. I visit him in hospital and was there when the officer called him. He became distressed and asked me to speak to the officer. I explained the situation and they said they were not going to alter this date. The phrase they used was "we've found something we need to discuss"
His solicitor will be there so i am in no doubt his legal rights and position will be defended adequately.

However my mate has (again) asked me to accompany him to the interview. I am happy to do this. But I would just like to know what to expect? I dont imagine i'll be in on the interview neither do i really want to unless my mate wants this. He has been assured that the interview is happening in the none detention side of the police station.
I'm not intending to offer him advice - i ask because i am autistic and unknown is very triggering to me so I am hoping to understand to ease myself, although im aware my mate is in probably a much more triggering situation.

Now i'm aware the answer is probably very case dependent but i suppose my main concern for him is could he potentially be immediately detained after the interview? Just general advice about what could happen to him? I am imagining that he will probably meet with the officer, they will provide him with the Caution and present whatever evidence or information they have and ask questions about it? He has already said he will listen to his solicitor and follow the advice given.
Are people regularly taken in to custody after a voluntary interview? Does this happen at all? Is there a chance he will be charged straight after the interview and if he is will there be a wait between being charged and any Trial/Court appearance? (assuming he does not admit to whatever charge they may present). What typically happens after an interview?
Incidentally he maintains his innocence and does not know what the "new" information is. His solicitor appears unaware too.

Ive been a social worker and supported service users to Court but have never dealt with a voluntary interview. I do seem to recall being told that despite it being voluntary if you dont attend a warrant will be issued for an arrest? Given he is in hospital if a doctor was to advise it would be detrimental to his health would this be an adequate reason to miss? Not that i am considering him missing the date but it is something that went through my mind as he would be in my "custody" between the hospital and Police station and whilst i reckon he wouldnt do anything silly i cant help but think "what if" too.

I appreciate any info and thoughts.

Hello, I'm really sorry if I'm in the wrong sub or anything, I dont usually use reddit or anything but I'm at a loss. I live in an emotionally abusive household that I get to escape momentarily because of uni. Physical abuse was involved but only when I was a child and there is no proof of it. I do not have any savings as I had a lot of health issues as a teen which have left me chronically ill and make having a job on top of university really hard/almost impossible for me physically.

My little sibling is 16 years old and starting college. What really pushed me over the edge was that today me and my mom were in a disagreement and I closed the door in the midst of it, not interrupting her or anything but to walk away from the argument. She got threatening and got in my face and started yelling. She then followed me as I was screaming that I was scared and she was acting crazy. I really thought she was going to lay hands on me. I've been shaking so bad ever since.

Additionally my father yells and hits the dog sometimes, its a lovely 5 year old border collie that has become quite reactive and barks a lot due to all this stress. I dont know legally how I would be allowed to take the dog as I think it's under my mom's name. I don't have money if I need to get lawyers involved, I dont have proof either it's me and my little sibling's word against my parents.

I'm unsure how I can get my sibling out of this house as well. Should I start gathering evidence for a case? Can I put up cameras and do I need consent for that? I'm assuming hidden cameras are illegal. I'm sorry if I'm missing crucial details I don't know what I need to provide. I'm also still really shaken up I'm posting directly after the altercation with my mom.

The only evidence I can really think of is that I have mentioned this abuse to a previous secondary school counsellor or whatever her title was I'm unsure. I don't know if she'd keep a record of that and how I'd find her as she left the school a couple of years ago.

I don’t really understand the legislation and how it clearly justifies a rent increase. The increase in “liabilities” seem to be covered by the current rental agreement, aka the one I’ve had for years. I’m concerned that it’s unwarranted.

In a bit of a nightmare at the moment. My husband (who is the main breadwinner for our household) is facing redundancy as his company is moving his role/department from England to another country.

My son was born in October last year. I took maternity leave until the end of June, then my husband had July and August off. He was told about the redundancy mid August whilst he was still off.

We had thought this was and have been treating this as shared parental leave, which I understand should come with enhanced protections for him such as being first in line for any alternative roles. However, he has been told he is on his company's system as being on 'paternity leave' which is not the same.

What's the best way for him to make sure his legal rights are protected? Is there a way we can prove this was shared leave and not paternity?

I’m dealing with a motor insurance valuation dispute after a theft. The insurer valued my car at around £2,600, but based on actual market listings the realistic replacement cost is closer to £4,000, so the gap is roughly £1,400.

The issue isn’t just the amount offered - it’s that the insurer refused to justify the valuation at all. AND - principles, I know amounts are not huge, but they are happy to take every last penny for cover, but then pay the absolute minimum on claim.

I escalated to the FOS and they found the insurer had made a basic arithmetic error in their “5‑vehicle average” (the numbers didn’t actually average to the amount they offered), which increased the payout by about £300. But FOS still sided with the insurer overall and didn’t address several concerns:

The insurer repeatedly refused to disclose the 5 examples they claim to have used.

They once sent me a list of vehicles showing they were clearly not comparable, then immediately retracted it as “sent in error”.

When I asked FOS what examples the insurer provided to them, FOS refused to share anything due to “commercial sensitivity”.

The insurer never mentioned any methodology until FOS got involved - then suddenly said it was an average of 5.

There’s a road‑tax band difference between model years that affects market value by ~£1,000 (2005–06 cars are significantly more expensive than 2006+ like‑for‑like), and the insurer didn’t adjust for this.

My evidence about the car’s condition and market comparators wasn’t addressed in any meaningful way (insurance didn't look at it at all).

I’m now considering rejecting the FOS final decision and issuing a small‑claims court claim instead for the difference, on the basis of breach of contract (policy says settlement should cover the cost of a replacement of the same make, model, spec AND condition).

Given the insurer’s refusal to disclose the comparators, the arithmetic error, and the valuation discrepancies, how realistic is it to pursue this through small claims? Are prospects generally good in cases where the dispute is about market value and methodology?

I am currently in the middle of proceedings against my ex employer for unfair dismisal on the grounds of disability. I worked for them for 4 years.

I am representing myself at my prelim hearing as I cant afford a solicitor. I have a solictor helping me in the background checking over documents etc but I cant afford for them to represent me.

Has anyone else represenred themselves? I'm a bit confused about what I need to prepare before hand. Solicitor said a list of issues and agenda which has to be agreed with the other party.

I requested the Trip.com customer service to ask the airline to rebook me onto the China Southern flights mentioned above for my journey to Hong Kong, and the airline refused. Hainan Airline does not offer any comparable rerouting options, not even by flying to Shenzhen (as the arrival time would be so late that I would not make the Shenzhen Bay Port border crossing the same day).

The China Southern flights are cheaper, when booked on Trip.com, then my original flights. I have already got written confirmation that my rerouting request has been refused. If I book my China Southern flights now, what should I do regarding to the original booking to maximise my rights under the UK261 regulations?

My son (now 5) has been suffering with reoccurring severe ear infections since he 15 months old, at 3 years old had grommets placed, he had some relief in this time, but by 4 they’d fallen out and by the summer last year his right ear was horribly blocked. In the November he was struggling in school due to the ear pain, I’ve had countless A&E trips with him in agony, many days with him in pain, his time table at school was reduced, he was suffering intense migraines and vomiting and referred to paediatrics who have just given him two blood tests that came back fine. In the January I managed to convince an ENT at Sheffield children’s hospital to do some micro suction, my son is highly traumatised by all of his medical interventions and the doctor repeatedly told me that the ears are self cleaning and that he’ll be fine and told me angrily that I’m wasting his time by wanting his ear cleaning. He removed a small amount of wax (my son wouldn’t sit still) and told me to just use ear drops (I had been) and that he was discharging me. I said it wasn’t good enough as his ear drum hadn’t been visualised and he said that he saw enough and that he deals with children who have real problems like cancer and not to come back for something trivial like dirty ears.

My son’s ear infections and pain continued and by April his ear expelled a large plug of keratin with the grommet inside and a huge volume of pus and blood. I took him to A&E at scunthorpe hospital and the doctor who viewed him said his ear was a mess and the migraines were likely from the pressure on the facial nerve and referred him to see and ENT. I then explained the situation to the ENT doctor who then told me he can’t do a single thing if my son won’t let him look in his ear and I said outright that that’s a lie and to knock him out and get a good visualisation, to which the doctor laughed and said that they don’t put children under anaesthetic for an ear infection. I said it’s more than an ear infection he’s been having these issues his whole life. He had a hearing test that he passed and then on the second appointment this doctor then felt the need to tell me that I was overly anxious and that little children get ear infections sometimes and that I’m making a mountain out of a mole hill. He had a quick look in to the ear and said he saw the reflection of the ear drum and that’s enough.

It’s now September, my son could barely stand up, we went to A&E at Doncaster, we were referred into the ENT emergency clinic. He couldn’t get a good look at my sons ear but he said he’ll refer him to the main clinic as my sons ear canal is too wide, has a pearl present and from what he could see quickly it looks as though he has keratin in the ear canal. He wanted him to be placed under anaesthetic for a full ear cleaning and for him to have a CT AND an MRI due to wanting to see if the damage is from the previous obturan or if he has now developed a cholesteatoma. I have now been told he has only referred me in to audiology.

WHERE do I even start with any of this? Are there levels to it? I’m going to contact PALS as soon as I’ve heard back from the secretary

A power line has broken somewhere and my neighbours lost power.

The power company people are going to want to dig up my front garden to repair it. This requires moving/digging up some new/small trees and other plants.

Do I have any legal rights to stop them? Or make them dig in at the pavement to thread new cables through perhaps?

I don't want to just agree to this only to find out I didn't -have- to let the.

I live with my toddler in a house divided in flats were all occupants are single mothers or vulnerable women.
For context, we relay issues to a house officer but we rent privately, the council has an agreement with our landlord which has multiple properties where occupants are mostly in the situation as in this house.
Our front door seemed to be jammed since Saturday afternoon, I was on my way out and another tenant said would call the housing officer, none of us likes to call the landlord as his people skills are not brilliant. Since then the door is still jammed, I wasn’t in until today so once I saw that I called the housing officer and she said someone will fix the door.
Question is : if nobody fix the door today legally what am I to do? Contract says I can’t have people not approved from the landlord fix the door and I definitely don’t want the door unsafe in the rough area we live in.
Another question; my fridge broke half July, the landlord says : we provide we don’t fix. The contract has no gift clause and actually says if something breaks I need to let him know as soon as possible; he just stopped picking up, I contacted the council and they told me to go boil an egg so had to cave in and got a second hand fridge but obviously I want to understand what I can do to get it right for my own pocket.

I attended a hearing last week and I want to make a formal complaint about the judge and his ruling. He was intimidating, rushed the hearing, refused to consider admissible evidence and has refused my right to appeal.

The issue was that my shower was fitted to low for me to use and lower than industry guidelines, plus other shoddy work. The defendant eventually agreed - in writing - to pay me the full amount to fix it as long as I signed a settlement agreement (SA). I wasn't happy with the SA - my gut, the CAB and AI all warned me about it. I drafted a new (very reasonable) version which the defendant refused to sign. Hence going to Court.

In the court:
- I was told the judge had another hearing at 12pm. I was told at 12.20 that he was reading my documents. We went in at 12.35. The judge said things were very tight as it was time to break for lunch soon so we all had to be very concise. I felt really rushed and under a lot of pressure - he wasn't the 'assisting and guiding' presence the court admin team had told me to expect.
- My case was on a lack of 'reasonable care and skill', and though the judge agreed that it was best practise for the defendant to have discussed the height with me in advance, he brushed over the fact that it wasn't discussed. The defendant also ghosted me when I couldn't be fobbed off with his poor 'solutions', but we never even got that far.
- We got halfway through the two-year timeline when he started summing up with no warning. I said there was more to the story, and brought up the SA. The judge said everything from that agreement onwards was inadmissible as it contained the phrase 'without prejudice' - which it didn't. I pointed that out but he refused to listen and told me that it did say that at the bottom. I re-read it fast while he was talking and it didn't. I pointed that out but he made it very clear that he wasn't going to accept what I said, continued summing up and only awarded me money on other shoddy work - less than 40% and none for the shower.
- I stayed behind at the end and said that I had reread the SA and it definitely didn't say without prejudice. He again said that it did and case closed - he was very short with me. I then asked if I could appeal and he reopened the file and said that he was going to make sure that I couldn't. I asked why and he slowly wrote and read out loud 'any appeal is refused as I have reviewed all the evidence'. He was didn't, he was WRONG, and so much of the story (including lies and threats from the defendant) went unheard. I was calm and respectful throughout.

My questions:
- is it usual that the judge only reviews the documents a few minutes before the hearing?
- he was clearly under time pressure - is that fair for my hearing?
- I feel his reasons for dismissing my case are insufficient. For example he said the height of the shower should have been included in the quote for me to have a case. Really? Is that detail ever in a quote?
- His reasons are also very wrong - what can I do about half of my evidence incorrectly being deemed inadmissible, when I now cannot appeal?
- how can I make a formal complaint about this judge, and what are the timescales? Would it actually make any difference to the outcome and how much more work would it take from me? I've already spent two years pursuing this. I understand that I have to wait for the written judgement to arrive to contact the CAB or a solicitor, but then I'm worried I'll have barely any time.

I thought the small claims track was supposed to be accessible to everyday people.

TRIGGER WARNING ‼️

I’m looking for advice from people who understand UK dog law, animal welfare law or have dealt with something similar.

We have two Staffs living nearby. There has been a continuing pattern of incidents involving cats/other animals, the dogs getting into neighbouring gardens, and the dogs repeatedly digging up buried animals.

I have tried reporting this, but I’m struggling to get anyone to take action.

The events are as follows:

1. Around 16 August 2026, a dog that had been put to sleep and buried a few days earlier was dug up. The dog’s abdomen had been ripped open and the body was left on the lawn.
2. On 19 August, one of the dogs dug up the remains of a cat called Trixie, who had been buried since January. Her head was missing.
3. On 24 August, Trixie’s grave was disturbed again and another cat skeleton was found beside her. We believe this may have been the remains of a cat named Britney, who died in 2019.
4. We reburied them and put a heavy concrete slab over the grave.
5. On 28 August, the grave had been disturbed again despite the slab. Trixie’s body was gone and Britney’s remains appeared to consist only of a spine.
6. On 17 August, a neighbour’s cat was attacked. The cat suffered severe abdominal injuries and a broken femur and ultimately had to be put to sleep.
7. The dogs have dug a hole/access route into our garden and another neighbour’s garden. This is one of the reasons we believe they have been able to access the graves and get to the cat they killed on 17th August.
8. There have been reports of other cats in the area being attacked, including injuries around the abdomen and neck.
9. In 2022, an older dog from the same property (now deceased) was reportedly involved in the death of a cat called Frank. Frank was found with puncture wounds around his neck after nasty noises had been heard coming from the garden. He died in his owners arms.
10. On another occasion, we personally had to intervene to get a dog off another cat

’s neck.
11. There have also previously been concerns reported to the RSPCA about the welfare/condition of an outdoor cat associated with the property. That cat has since died.

I have photographs, messages and other evidence, and I can distinguish between things I personally witnessed and things that have been reported to me by other people.

I tried contacting Crimestoppers, but they wouldn’t deal with it because the breed isn’t classed as a dangerous/banned dog.

I have also spoken to the police. I was told that they cannot police dogs killing cats or digging things up, despite me explaining the wider history and the fact that the dogs have entered neighbouring gardens and attacked animals.

I’m now confused about what legislation actually applies and who is responsible for dealing with this.

From what I’ve read, the Dangerous Dogs Act isn’t limited to banned breeds and can apply where a dog is dangerously out of control. But I’m not sure whether the repeated attacks on cats, the dogs entering neighbouring gardens, and the circumstances here meet that threshold. As well as the fact this family have now owned a total of 4 very violent dogs.

Please help us. We are afraid to go into our own gardens.

What laws potentially apply in England when a dog repeatedly attacks/kills cats?
Does the Dangerous Dogs Act potentially apply even if the dog isn’t a banned breed?
Does it matter that some incidents happened on private property/in gardens?
Can the police take action where a dog has attacked another person’s animal, even if no human has been injured?
Could the owners potentially be liable for allowing dogs to escape into neighbouring gardens?
Is this something the local council/dog warden should be dealing with rather than (or as well as) the police?
Are there animal-welfare laws that could apply to the dogs themselves if they are being allowed to behave this way or repeatedly escape?
What evidence should we be collecting to give authorities the best possible chance of taking action?
If we are genuinely frightened of retaliation, how can we report this while protecting our identities?
If the police/council initially refuse to act, what is the appropriate way to escalate or challenge that decision?

We don’t want to confront the neighbours ourselves. We are genuinely frightened about retaliation and increasingly don’t feel safe using our own garden normally. They are not nice people. This is why it’s taken so long to report but enough is enough.

I’m particularly interested in practical advice from people in England who know the law or have dealt with dangerous/out-of-control dogs.

Please don’t suggest confronting the owners or doing anything that could put us or the animals at further risk.

I live in a two bed flat, in a block of 12 other flats.

Ive signed, after may 2026, a let only common law agreement contract.

Rents £1800 a month. Contract signed by me. Landlord lives in another separate flat and has no access to my flat.

Have I misunderstood the nature of this type of contract, in that its not covered by the renters right act?

I dont understand why its a let only common law agreement, rather than an assured tenancy agreement.

What happens if I give 2 months notice and they say no, its the rest of the contract length that needs to be completed?

I’m looking for some advice on what my options are regarding unpaid wages from my former employer.

I ended my employment on 10 June 2026. I was expecting all outstanding pay/arrears to be included in my final payment at the end of June, as I understood this to be when I would normally be paid.

However, the money wasn't paid.

I emailed my former employer immediately to ask about the missing payment but received no response. I then followed up about a week later, and eventually received a response on 29 July. They acknowledged that I was owed money and said they would look into it, but I received no further update.

During August I emailed them multiple times chasing this. Eventually, I received a response on Saturday August 29th with their calculations. Unfortunately, the calculations were incorrect and did not account for the full amount I believe I am owed.

I replied immediately explaining the errors and setting out what I believe is still outstanding. I have not received any acknowledgement or meaningful response since then.

They have subsequently made another payment, but this was still calculated incorrectly, and I am currently still owed approximately £1,200.

The delay is also causing me financial problems. Because the payments have been delayed/made incorrectly, I'm concerned that the way the arrears are eventually processed is causing me to pay more tax and NI than I should have done.

At this point I've tried repeatedly to resolve this directly with the employer, but I'm getting nowhere.

Any advice on the best next step would be greatly appreciated. I am agitated by their behaviour and want to teach them a lesson.

Right so to start we're both quite young, and we was drinking rather heavily together and we got into a fight. Now I blocked the exit and he pulled me away from door resulting in me getting a minor carpet burn graze on my knee. He rang the police himself when police came I was still really drunk they arrestered him and I was taken to hospital just for general check over now they've released him on 28 days no contact order bail +dvpo that both end same day well he's got to go police station that day to answer his bail. Now I made it clear I don't want to press charges or make a formal statment but theyre saying about strangulation weeks prior even though I've told them multiple times he grabbed my face once to calm me down while I was having a panic attack not strangulation but they're not listening and I'm worried because I want the bail dropped I want NFA it's his first offence but theyre viewing it as high risk and serious harm for future but it's not and I just don't want the bail extended or anything I just want to be able to see him again it's causing me so much mental stress that I'm not able to contact him.

Just wondering how legit these letters are and what the chances are they actually take me to court? Will there be another opportunity to pay it before it goes that far or should I just cut my losses and pay?

A decade ago I worked as an employee full time for this company, for 6m. The contract had a confidentiality clause that said I can't disclose anything from my work without their permission.

They had a character they licensed, created by one lady, who apparently couldn't draw anymore. They wanted me to make new characters based on her style, that they could claim where from her. So they told me when I left I can't say that I worked on them. I obviously wasn't aware of this when I joined and signed my contract. I thought it was a normal illustration company and that I could get credit for my work after to showcase for future employers. There were other issues in how they treated us so I can see how they wanted that kept secret.

I can see now that they've since published all my artwork online and the collections using it a few years ago.

I can also see one other artists who has put his designs on his portfolio but obviously I don't know if he got explicit permission.

So I would like to now put the images with the ones I designed in my portfolio, that I found online (as I don't have the originals obviously). I would state I don't own them, copyright is to the company etc.

How risky is this, or what are the risks involved?

I'm in England. I'm not an artists anymore (really from above experience) but I do want credit for what I did, even if it's just on my obscure old online porrfolio.

I also had posted other designs I did for them and there was no issue, just not this character design specifically given what they said which sounded a bit threatening.

Update: I am very pissed off. I just checked the original artist's instagram and she claims she created my images. She even has my original sketches. WTF!?

I live in Scotland, I'm a home-owner, and we're trying to sell our house and buy another house.

We've had two big problems with this.

One of them is that so far we've found two properties we wanted to buy and both times we got gazumped. First time just pure rule-breaking - the seller got a higher bid three days after they accepted ours and went with the higher bid. Second time, the seller gave us 4 weeks to get a bid (we weren't on the market then) and then after we had been on the market for just under 3 weeks they said we had had enough time - and took the higher bid that was waiting for them.

Since then we haven't seen a single place we want to buy. We've been looking hard, but what we want is thin on the ground, and nothing has shown up since we lost the second place.

The plan is that wherever we move, that's our final home - I am within a few years of retirement - so we want to find the right place.

And the other problem is - we've had a dozen or so people come look at our home, over 13 weeks, and none of them have put in a bid or a note of interest.

I got an email from the estate agent saying explicitly "It's time for you to lower the price on your house". And the thing is - I can see that we may need to. It was priced at the usual ten thousand below valuation price, offers over - the price the estate agent recommended back three months ago. But, we don't yet have anywhere to go to. I don't want to drop the price on my home until we do have our sights on another place.

What's my legal position with regard to the estate agent? Are they allowed to drop us as a client if we refuse to drop the price?

To be clear, I am entirely onboard with dropping the price or going to fixed price if we've found somewhere. I just don't want to do it until we have found somewhere to move to.

I don't want to have to find another estate agent though. What are my rights with regard to the estate agent selling our place?

For context, I am based in England, and have worked for companies who would have been subject to ISO 27001 audits in the past. My disclaimer is that I have never been involved in an ISO 27001 audit, so my scant knowledge of ISO 27001 is more theoretical than applied. I am curious to know more about how the process works, hence why I am asking here.

If I look at https://www.urmconsulting.com/blog/iso-27001-2022-a-5-organisational-controls-legal-regulatory-and-contractual, it mentions that, as part of the ISO 27001 organisational controls, you must record all the relevant laws and regulations within your jurisdiction with which you must comply, including those at the national, regional and local levels, a summary of their requirements, and the date at which they were last reviewed, to account for any that have been repealed, updated et al.

Certain regulations or laws may not apply, whether fully or partially, if your organisation is largely remote, and if you operate in multiple jurisdictions, this must be contained within the register.

In terms of the contractual controls, your organisation must maintain a record of all the pertinent information security requirements of your contractual agreements, whether with clients, suppliers, partners, insurance providers etc, however these requirements are usually recorded within the contractual agreements themselves, so it shouldn't always be an onerous task.

Am I right in thinking that ISO 27001 is, therefore, not a contract but, if you have a client that requires you to be ISO 27001 certified, and you fail an audit or breach any of the terms or provisions of the ISO 27001 standard, could they use this as grounds to sue you, seek redress or invoke a provision of their contractual agreeemnt with you, because as far as they are concerned, you have failed or neglected to perform your duties or obligations?

Is the ISO 27001 standard, in that sense, a contract in itself, or a framework that allows your client to invoke, say, a break clause in their contract with you, if permissible?

Does the ISO 27001 standard serve as a legal artefact or as an industry framework or guidelines?
