The last post on my account a few guys commented to get this guy cleaned and fixed. so here it is again. New battery, the back cabinet has been replaced with the hinges, so no more side cracks and holes to peep in. Speakers have also been replaced. Insides have been cleaned out . It's fresh again and ready for college again .it will probably last another 7-8 years now :)

Lenovo LOQ 15APH8 - Enabling Secure Boot causes "Default Boot Device Missing" / IPv4 network loop after BIOS update

Upvotes

Laptop Model: Lenovo LOQ 16APH8 (Type 82XU)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS

Current BIOS: LYCN49WW (4/23/2026)

OS: Windows 11 Home (Build 26200)

Drive: Micron NVMe SSD (GPT, 260MB EFI System Partition intact)

Issue:

Since updating to BIOS LYCN49WW, my laptop will only boot into Windows when Secure Boot is Disabled.

Whenever I turn Secure Boot ON in BIOS:

  1. If PXE Boot is enabled, it completely bypasses the SSD and hangs indefinitely on the black screen (Start PXE over IPv4).
  2. If PXE Boot to LAN is Disabled, it displays the popup dialog: "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert Recovery Media and Hit any key..."

Troubleshooting already done:

  • Confirmed Windows Boot Manager (Micron SSD) is set to priority #1 in the UEFI boot order.
  • Confirmed in Disk Management that the drive is partitioned as GPT with a healthy EFI System Partition.
  • Used Restore Factory Keys in the BIOS Security menu (still throws the same boot failed error).
  • Toggling Secure Boot back to Disabled boots straight into Windows instantly with zero issues.

Vantage is currently showing LYCN50WW as an available update, but the changelog only lists security CVE fixes.

It looks like the firmware de-synced or revoked the signature for the Windows EFI bootloader (bootmgfw.efi). Has anyone with a LOQ 16APH8/15APH8 run into this? Did flashing LYCN50WW resolve it, did you have to run a Windows In-Place repair to refresh the EFI keys, or did you need to roll back the BIOS?

Please, any help is appreciated...

Lenovo keeps making repeating buzzing/vibrating noise?

I have had this Yoga Slim 7i Aura edition for a bit over a year now and it has just started making a buzzing/vibrating sound every 10s or so. Sometimes it starts as a low rumbling sound then buzzes and other times it just buzzes by itself. It is coming from the right side of the laptop. What could this be? Is it the fans/debris or something else?

Three Bluetooth driver issues in three days

I’m already irritable after a long day, so I’m sorry in advance but is this the norm?

I got a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 last month for law school and for the last three days, without fail, I’ve had issues with my Bluetooth driver because it just disappears completely. I have to troubleshoot it and poke around and redownload software.

I don’t use energy saver mode anymore because of the uncertainty - will my laptop work today!

I’ve used Windows for the last ~10 years or so (Dell) and never encountered this.

ThinkPad X9 15 for a software developer, good choice?

I’m a software developer and will be starting a Robotics, Cognition, Intelligence master’s soon. I’ll mainly use the laptop for coding, IntelliJ, Docker, ROS 2 and general development.
I’m considering the ThinkPad X9 15 Gen 1. Would you recommend it for this use case, or should I get a different laptop instead?
I really like its low weight and 2.8K 120 Hz OLED display, but I’m not a fan of very glossy screens and reflections. How noticeable is the reflectiveness in everyday use?

There’s no price difference between the touchscreen and non touchscreen versions where I’m buying it. I’ve read that the touchscreen version has an additional layer on top of the display, which can make it more reflective. I’m not sure if that’s actually the case with the X9 15, though. Has anyone compared the two versions?

Would you pick the X9 15, or go for another laptop?

Qira - fail to startup (+Aura edition errors)

Hi!

Qira will not setup on my laptop. Its compatible, it downloads and installs, but then the "start" bar appears at the top of the screen and isn't functional! I can exit out of the setup, but not start it!

Additionally, I have an Aura edition laptop that was supposed to comer with digital wellness tools like Eye care and Posture reminders, but they are nowhere to be seen. It appears they were discontinued early this year, and my laptop is from May/June this year, so why is the Aura edition still advertised if its no different than standard??? I have an Aura in name and not functionality, I actually bought an Aura for the posture reminders etc specifically!

I don't care much about Qira as I don't need more AI than the Copilot button on my keyboard I have never once used. My first searches did leave me to believe that the Digital Wellness features would now be found in Qira instead of Vantage, but I think this is false and I cannot get them at all.

Thoughts?

Lenovo LOQ Maintenance: Dust Cleaning & Thermal Paste Under Premium Warranty?

Hey everyone! I have a Lenovo LOQ with an i5-12450HX and RTX 2050 4GB, and I’ve been using it daily for 5+ hours for the past 15 months.

About 6 months ago, a Lenovo warranty technician came to my place to fix a touchpad/mousepad issue, and while working on the laptop, I noticed there was quite a lot of dust buildup inside. The technician also suggested that it would be a good idea to get the internals cleaned and the thermal paste replaced.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to get it done yet, but now I want to make sure I maintain the laptop properly and keep it running smoothly.

Could anyone guide me on what maintenance I should request? Should I simply ask for proper internal dust cleaning + thermal paste replacement, or is there anything else I should have checked while it’s being serviced?

Also, my laptop is covered under a 3-year Lenovo Premium Warranty. Does anyone know whether Lenovo Premium Support covers routine internal dust cleaning and thermal paste replacement? And if I get it done myself or through a third-party technician, could that affect or void my warranty?

Any advice from other LOQ owners would be greatly appreciated!

Lenovo advertises “Force Pad, optional Yoga Pen” — but removes the Force Pad if you don’t buy the pen

Hi,

I hope one of the lenovo reps on this subreddit might see this and help me.

I bought lenovo 7a from lenovo thailand: https://www.lenovo.com/th/en/p/laptops/yoga/yoga-pro-series/yoga-pro-7a-gen-11-15-inch-amd/len101y0075

The wording across the whole site says the laptop has force pad with optional pen. When you go to configurator there is option to add pen. But if you dont click button to check full specs you will never see and understand that if you dont add pen you will get old mechanical touchpad instead of haptic. Problem is because this laptop is sold with configurator there is no cancellation. I haven't received this laptop yet and there is no way to cancel it. And the whole thing is super misleading and how would you know that this laptop is using old mechinal touchpad by default when the laptop page never showed this info...

Frequent black screens from Lenovo yoga 14Itl5

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The laptop sometimes boots, and the times it does, the situation is this. I believe this started because the laptop was overheating, and before the laptop used to shut down the cpu speed and push the fans, but the fans got clogged a lot which I saw when I went to general service from third party because my warranty had finished. Even after a service, the laptop didn't get better, as the black screens came back after a few days. The laptop vibrated a lot and I took it for another service where they said it mostly might be a fan problem, which they tried doing something to repair while also repasting.. it ran cinebench tests while idling 70-80C but plain windows made it jump 90+ sometimes.. i don't know if it's the heat anymore, and I don't know what to do..

1-year-old Yoga Slim 7 15ILL9 motherboard blown

Hi, I desperately need advice about my laptop. I purchased a yoga slim 7 exactly a year ago, my warranty expired 30 days ago and yesterday I woke up to my laptop completely dead. I took it to a computer repair shop and he said he thinks the motherboard is blown from heat issues (the day before i was on the computer all day, nothing crazy just doing school work) I take really good care of my laptop, no spills or injuries could have caused this.

The repair guy recommended i renew my warranty and wait the 60 days and send my computer in, but will I have to pay for a new laptop then? Should I give up and just get a new laptop? I'm so upset. I'm a college student and I rely on my laptop for all of my school work and homework, so i'm rushing to find a solution so I can keep working.

If anyone has any advice or recommendations please let me know. If anyone is thinking about buying a yoga laptop, please keep in mind that too much stress can brick the computer. I wouldn't recommend this laptop to anyone else. School just started a couple weeks ago and this is such a bad time for this to happen.

Thank you for reading

When is Lenovo making a 2-in-1 Lenovo Legion Laptop?

When do you think we will see Lenovo release a 2-in-1 laptop like the HP envy? I think this would be a great fit for portable gaming, maybe the Legion laptop could finally support a touchscreen to allow users to draw for animation.

I boot up the pc and it skyrockets oftentimes ranging 60% to 90% then I let it sit for a while and the numbers are still pretty wild, most times it’s the windows update installer (I think I don’t have the pc in front of me right now)

IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 CPU drops to 0.40 GHz on battery – motherboard already replaced

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 (82K201UMIN, Ryzen 7 5800H).

On AC power, the CPU runs normally at around 3–4 GHz. As soon as I disconnect the charger, it drops to exactly 0.40 GHz and the laptop becomes extremely slow.

What I have tried:

- Two genuine Lenovo batteries

- BIOS updated: H3CN49WW V3.07 / EC 1.49

- Processor power settings checked (100%)

- Motherboard was replaced by Lenovo yesterday

- Same issue returned within 24 hours

Battery details in Lenovo Vantage show 45Wh design/full capacity and only 5 cycles.

AC: ~4.19 GHz

Battery: ~0.40 GHz

Has anyone with the IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 experienced this exact issue? If so, what actually fixed it? Could this be an EC/BMS/power-management or Windows issue?
