You mean keeping prices the same and pocketing the savings?

Capitalism used to be kept in check and competing for customers drove value for the customers.

Those days are dead.

We're in end-game capitalism where rats flee the sinking ship while selling seats on the lifeboats reserved for women and children.

I don't think capitalism was ever kept in check simply by competing for customers. It also required strong labor unions and government regulations.
