Texas Farmer Warns Trump’s Foreign Beef Push Could Cost Republicans the Midterms

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, Endorsed by Trump as a “MAGA Warrior” says President Trump's push to bring in more foreign beef is hurting US ranchers and could cost Republicans some midterm elections. Miller calls for mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef on Balance of Power.

When asked if he’d vote for someone else, he stumbled over the answer and certainly didn’t sound convincing. Even when this is hurting him and his fellow ranchers, it still doesn’t seem like enough for him to regret his vote. They’re feeling the consequences, but still holding onto that vote for dear life.

Imagine throwing away farmland that has been in your family and kept them and your community fed for generations and you decided to throw it away to some corporate overlord who won't give two shits about it and place a data center smack dab in the middle all because you were too proud to admit you fucked up. Let them lose their farms.

170

u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 3d ago

…and then vote for him again.

It’s no longer about what’s best for the country; it’s about being too insecure to take responsibility for your actions and bullying as a way of overcompensating.

Agreed. After the things said from that side of the aisle, if they lose their farms, so be it.

83

u/AFASOXFAN 3d ago

Agreed. Self inflicted. No sympathy.

33

u/amanwithoutaname001 2d ago

Agreed. F this guy and everyone like him that voted for a convicted felon, rapist, pedo, low IQ, spoiled ass bully who isn't fit to lead a casino let alone the USA.

I get that people were upset that Biden threw the doors open on our borders, me too, but that could be handled much, much better than is ICE is doing.

Let's not forget about alienating neighbors, allies and cuddling up to the billionaires, Putin, Kim Jong Un, Xi Jinping, and doing Israel's bidding.

Reap what you sow Mr Farmer and think twice next time you're in the voting booth!

I am at the point where I take pleasure in maga feeling the pain of their actions. I guess I’ve become meaner.

6

u/EilidhRos 1d ago

I was at that point on a certain night in November, 2024. if bringing in foreign beef will knock the Republic*nts out of power at the Midterms, I say bring it. most folks around here are lucky if they can afford a lousy 2lbs of ground beef a week. it's not going to hurt my feelings to do without cow meat for the forseeable future. I'm past caring if I sound petty.

6

u/ChezrRay 2d ago

I just laugh and laugh when I hear them whine and for this guy to even consider voting for him again is hysterical

6

u/Glum_Reason308 1d ago

Besides this guy and very few others I honestly haven’t seen or heard any of them regretting anything. Last night I scrolled into a TikTok live where that was one of the questions and there was a lot of “I would vote for him again I stand ten toes down with him”. I don’t think there’s anything he could do at this point to make them turn against him.

u/Glittering_Yak8672 1d ago

Well, it was true for his 2016 election bid. He knew that he can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and he would not lose any support.

You are correct, I forgot about the bigotry.

I’ve been saying it from the start of his second term, anyone who STILL supports Trump is doing so for the worst reasons.

He would vote for again. Even if he promised to take his farm away, deport his wife, imprison his children. Because to vote for a democrat is worse than voting for the devil himself.

8

u/DrChaos77382 2d ago

Living in Texas now as a Massachusetts native you are 🎯🎯🎯🎯

I see it all the time down here. There are people in Texas who would vote for Satan before voting for a Democrat. It's pretty wild to see the near Psychosis the GOP has people in in Texas. As a party they have a death grip on the state.

I'm hoping this will finally be the cycle that grip is broken.

4

u/Dedpoolpicachew 1d ago

That’s the result of 50 years of propaganda. Started after Nixon resigned because he was going to be impeached. Roger Ailes and a bunch of hard core fascist Repubes got together to create a media ecosphere that would never allow that to happen to a Repube again. Thus Faux Nooze was born. Then Sinclair started scooping up the AM radio stations and turning them to hate radio. Their whole grift was to convince people that their media bubble was “the only one” all others were “librul” and only they were “fair and balanced”. It was all propaganda. Then after the Soviet Union fell, the Fucking Russians realized there was a way to undermine the west much cheaper than a big war machine, they started feeding propaganda to the Right wing news bubble. They created the troll farms, the bots. Then they paid influencers that were spewing the messages they liked. That one was probably their masterpiece. They didn’t have to feed the propaganda, it had taken root. They just kept feeding the influencers money for the messaging. They didn’t have to shape it, the influencers were already doing their work. They just paid them to keep going. Now we’ve had 50 years of this demonization of the opposition and division of the western electorate. The good news is studies have shown that if you diversify the sheeple’s media diet, they become more rational and sane. The bad news is that Faux is like a drug, and they’ll likely just go back to it and revert to being fascist assholes.

That happened 2 miles down the road from me. A pretty good sized dairy farm and acres of of hay and alfalfa long before the 20 years I moved here.

Now it's a massive googley data center and the other acres built a shit ton of empty industrial concrete buildings (perfect for detention centers) sitting all around the area.

It's been depressing to watch happen over the years and I feel bad for the new neighborhood that was built years before googley moved into the other half of the block sized farm field. But, I guarantee that the farmer and family who owned the land is sitting quite comfortably, retired, and sipping iced teas.

18

u/Morgannin09 3d ago

They constantly vote for their hangman, but when they lose, we all lose. Their farms are foreclosed and bought by corporations who drive up prices, drive down quality, and lobby against regulations that stop them from poisoning us. All so they don't have to vote for a Democrat.

10

u/yoeleventone 3d ago

u/DarthSkywakr 2d ago

The one silver lining out of all this is that Texas does NOT have the grid to be able to sustain the energy demands needed by all the data centers. They submitted a request for 478GW usage and Texas had to turn them down instantly and immediately put a hold on any more being built because Texas' grid can only handle 85-91GW at most.

These dummies thought using 5x that amount is completely fine and got turned down instantly when making the proposal. My bet is they also knew this going in but decided to lie in their #s. My guess is that they're likely way closer to the 550-600GW range that they'll be needing.

So at least for now, we won't be getting any more data centers up and running. However, that won't stop them from still likely buying up all that farmland to start building solar farms or preparing for when the grid gets upgraded fully and they start building data centers by the masses.

This. The reason he stumbled over his answer about voting is the right wing political-media complex had spent the last 25 years telling them the Democrats are godless enemies of the country bent on taking their guns and turning their kids gay. That gut punch I felt that following November morning and the weeks that followed, as these dipshits were “owning the libs” parading around town as if their team had won the Super Bowl, the one thing I clung to in order to get me through the rest of 2025 and into the T.2 admin was my decision that I would turn my empathy switch off and actually derive some sort of morbid satisfaction from the incoming consequences they had no fucking clue were going to hit them in the face.

“I thought he’d deport the other people, not my husband/wife” … “I lost my Medicare coverage and I can’t afford anything” … “My crops are rotting in my field because my usual buyers are retaliating against tariffs and decided to buy elsewhere”

So yeah, I have zero sympathy to spare on these farmers and ranchers.

Buddy I work with a lot of them I tried nice and educating and all that jazz and I was told I was exaggerating or overreacting and that trump said he had nothing to do with that yadda yadda yadda. You can’t inform people who dropped out of tenth grade because “that was enough education for them” you can’t convince someone who’s against abortion because “that just makes it harder to adopt” these people only momentarily have a second of recognition when it personally affects them and if you blink you’ll miss it. It isn’t long lasting it just changes what they complain about that day. I used to be optimistic I really did but the “facts don’t care about your feelings” crowd is only interested in THEIR own feelings and zero contradicting facts. I’m pretty tired of being told to extend an olive branch to people who swat it down and set it on fire repeatedly. My trees looking pretty bare at this point and I don’t think they can survive any more pruning. Focus on the people you’re close to, try to build community where you can, but the only overlap of beliefs I’ve seen as of late is everyone hates flock. Outside of that I don’t see much of a path forward. Good luck, godspeed, and if necessary good hunting

11

u/HeavyVoid8 3d ago

We’ve tried to educate for decades. Let them all fail and give them the zero socialism they asked for

Their one weakness is the one they know non republicans will never exploit: they are all in small population states. If a sea of non republicans moved here and actually saw what these places have to offer and build on it, they could overturn the power in balance.

Want to change the electoral college? Get ten republicans senators. Wyoming only has 700,000 residents total. Cody is amazing. Thermopolis would be a hippie tourist attraction in Arizona.

69

u/jarena009 3d ago

Bingo...and 8-10 years ago, I used to feel bad for these folks, but after 3x voting for Trump, not anymore. They're only complaining because the problem/damage is affecting them (they don't care what happens to others, and want goodies for themselves too), plus they're all just going to vote Republican anyway, to their own peril.

So I'm done feeling empathy for them. Cut them off. Cut the subsidies, cut the special rural healthcare funding, cut ACA/Medicaid to deep red states etc. I want out; they don't like "socialism" anyway, so win win.

5

u/Crafty-Help-4633 3d ago edited 3d ago

That may be true, but they have no problem cutting those babies off from life saving fiscal support.

I'll never believe a person who says they're "pro life" if their concern/fiscal support ends after delivery. They're pro-birth. Birthers are not pro-life. Regardless of how they see themselves. You cannot be pro life if you're okay with starving babies to death or mothers dying preventably during forced childbirth. They see that other thing as voting to kill babies, but not their current vote. It makes no sense.

We've destroyed so many nice things in our country because the wrong people are enjoying it. Most Americans would rather be miserable if it means the out group is also miserable than be happy while the out group is happy.

u/Suitable-Option833 3d ago

Not just private equity - but Jd Vance. This is a part of project 2025. And Vance’s acre trader or whatever it’s called is doing well. This is all by design. So now our farmland is going to be owned by technofascists. All around - it’s not good.

Farms are businesses. When the owner makes bad decisions, the business fails. Maybe the new owners will hire them. McDonald's is always hiring.

4

u/Forb1ddenKnowledge 3d ago

I don't disagree but lots of farms are subsidized ( socialism) and get bailouts.

Both needs to stop.

The GOP will shake the Boogeyman stick and the farmers will fall in line again.

“We may lose the mid-term elections over this” ~ Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller

He admits that lack of country of origin labeling will hurt the 🇺🇸farmer/rancher and the practice is deceiving the 🇺🇸consumer. Imported beef from 20 foreign countries. 🫢😂

But still considers himself a supporter of the Republican party…  These 🤡s have only themselves to blame.

3

u/Thatisme01 2d ago

Lack of country of origin won’t hurt the American rancher. Americans are very quick to say that they “will happily pay more more American products produced by Americans”, until they have to open their own wallets.

The average American will always choose the cheapest possible option, regardless of why it comes from.

11

u/HickAzn 3d ago

Bitch please. You’ll suck up to MAGA every flipping election. I just hope they lose all of their land, not just their livelihoods.

Deceptive advertising? Well thats what you for Hoss!

9

u/InterneticMdA 3d ago

Don't worry, the supreme court will just break the constitution some more until they win the midterms...

8

u/TransFatty 3d ago

Why? What would that do? Make our food supply safer? AAAAAHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!! That ship has sailed, mister! FAFO!

Oh, well. In other news, here's a recipe for 3 bean chili. No expensive, potentially unsafe or diseased ground beef (or horse) is required to make this delicious dinner.

3

u/Crafty-Help-4633 3d ago

Damn that does look really tasty.

“Texas ranchers are so mad they are gonna keep blindly supporting the nyc billionaire that’s ruining our economy!”—that fake cowboy.

8

u/jarena009 3d ago

How very conservative; the problem and damage is now affecting me, therefore only NOW do I care (plus I need a special policy solution just for me).

8

u/norespect61 3d ago

Huh.. your expected windfall didn’t happen. Every good grift requires the greed of the mark. You didn’t think you were the mark.🤣

5

u/Acceptable-Soup4973 3d ago

Texas ranchers, and any others who believed the bull$hit coming from the orange analmouth deserve to lose billions and their cattle and farms. I don't feel an ounce of pity for them.

7

u/that-thingy66 3d ago

He actually thinks he's close to him ?

5

u/Crafty-Help-4633 3d ago

This specific rancher is the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture since Jan 2015, and a rabid MAGA donor. For sure Trump actually knows this one.

Which honestly makes this video even fucking funnier. This stupid fuck should have absolutely known better this whole time. Especially after the previous Trump term.

u/DuhBraux 3d ago

Yes, in his prayers probably.

I wish they did label beef with the country it came from so I could be sure to never buy it from any U.S. rancher ever again. They are all fascists cocksuckers who deserve to go bankrupt.

7

u/Bluetoes1 3d ago

This is what Kamala was going to do for the farmers

3

u/Crafty-Help-4633 3d ago

They don't want more Ranchers though, either. So they'd never have voted for Kamala. But I sleep well at night knowing I voted in their best interest, even when they couldn't be bothered because they wanted blood and now are crying that they got it.

Can't save everyone and they're determined to go down with the ship. Too bad we didn't get Harris, though. I'm not convinced Trump didn't cheat on this election, since he calls it "too big to rig" when the 2020 election was just as large but somehow rigged. I think he's still mad about 2020 because he cheated and still lost.

But I digress, this is a great graphic and I'll be saving it for later if you don't mind.

“Behold. The festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul, all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair. Not a president. Not even a man. Just the diseased distillation of everything this country swears it isn't but always has been, arrogance dressed up as exceptionalism, stupidity passed off as common sense, cruelty sold as toughness, greed exalted as ambition, and corruption worshipped like gospel. It is America's shadow made flesh, a rotting pumpkin idol proving that when a nation kneels before money, power, and spite, it doesn't just lose its soul, it shits out this bloated obscenity and calls it a leader.” - Oliver Kornetzke

4

u/MarleysGhost2024 3d ago

Sid Miller is batshit crazy on a good day.

4

u/OLPopsAdelphia 3d ago

They’re not going to vote blue. They’re going to dissent by not voting.

I can see the administration saying or doing something like an automatic registration as a Republican means an automatic red vote, so that’s more reason for someone to convince the right to vote either independent or blue.

Looks like all the fast food chains will be buying this shit  beef, and lowering their prices or giving two for one deals and the American consumer will gobble it up without a doubt

3

u/Pickle_ninja 2d ago

You mean keeping prices the same and pocketing the savings?

Capitalism used to be kept in check and competing for customers drove value for the customers.

Those days are dead.

We're in end-game capitalism where rats flee the sinking ship while selling seats on the lifeboats reserved for women and children.

Capitalism and free markets when it benefits them, and protectionism when it doesn’t.

How about not firing the FDA food inspectors that keep our food supply chains safe

OH NO I’m affected so now I care! Fuck this dude.

4

u/Extension-Power273 3d ago

Identifying what country beef comes from? That sounds a lot like government regulation and consumer protection. Damn commie.

4

u/Gromitlikescheese 3d ago

Didn’t Texas support trump overwhelmingly? The leopards weren’t supposed to eat their faces. Only other people’s faces. Not too sympathetic to Texas ranchers.

4

u/steel-monkey 3d ago

Republicans are the party that has opposed country of origin labeling laws. This is their MO, fuck up, then butch about it. Bonus points if they can find a reason to blame democrats for their fuckups.

5

u/Severe_Air_4353 3d ago

There are jobs in California picking water melons ranchers , pick a nice one for taco

3

You can obviously tell that he still hasn't learned anything from all this BS because he goes on to say "It will cost us the midterms."

4

u/squachek 3d ago

A federal labeling program!? That sounds like a costly big government red tape program designed to trample the rights of yew-ess importers, processors and distributors!

4

u/Yaya_Tovar 3d ago

I would like to laugh on that guy’s face. You got what you deserved.

3

u/Atrocious_Algae81 3d ago

People really need to get over their egos and admit they were wrong. It shows emotional intelligence, it shows you still have the ability to change when faced with new information, and it shows you can be somewhat compassionate to everyone else who are suffering as a result of your wrong decision. Do I think this brand of GOP have those traits, NO, but it sure would be nice for once.

3

u/Great-Gas-6631 3d ago

They really should have looked into Project2025.

3

u/OrilliaBridge 3d ago

Aw, it “chaps” him that Trump is lying to the American consumers.

3

u/Bongo-the-clown 3d ago

What a welfare queen🤡

3

u/mwm4utoplay69 3d ago

He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Love the guys raising beef but they reduced herd sizes under Biden and now many consumers can't even afford hamburger. And there are a hell of a lot more of those consumers then there are people in the ranching industry.

Ranchers have turned beef into a niche market as far as many consumers are concerned. They don't seem as concerned about increasing the herd sizes to bring prices back to reasonable consumer levels.

Clearly, there is a shortage vs demand for inexpensive hamburger - when i can buy a t-bone or ribeye on sale for less per pound than 85% lean hamburger at nearly $10/lb.

3

u/mblkmnsa 3d ago

Their racism is too strong. LBJ said this and it is true today.

3

u/visasteve 3d ago

I like his pistol pin. It signals he is very smart, as does his accent.

3
