This is what I keep telling people. The only reason we don’t have rampant prion disease is because of heavy regulations. That are now useless and void.
Prion disease is nothing to mess at with, and we just put our entire ability to protect our population from prion diseases in the hands of people who don’t believe prion diseases exist.
“Why didn’t the Democrats stop Trump if it was important? Typical.. I’m voting for Trump to stop all of the corruption in the world and he is bound to make mistakes from time to time”
“Personally I hope he and Elon work something out again to annex Europe or some shit”
I’m in the UK. They absolutely did do a great job narrating how horrendous Trump’s term will be. Your issue is that your news channels are not obligated to provide the factual information. The news channels undermine the public trust and false narrative to manipulate a population that are too far into an echo chamber.
Our media, most of our news is rampant propaganda and trash opinion disguised as news. We’ve also been cutting funding to education, making it hard for people to be able to differentiate between fact and opinion.
Yeah that's because about 7 Republican billionaires(or companies owned by Republican billionaires for anyone who wants to argue about this) own over 95% of the news media in America.
They are never going to ask for government oversight. They’re irrevocably convinced that “the government” can only waste money and do bad things. Not the Trump administration, the other government, like all the long term government employees who haven’t been fired yet.
I am. I have a few local farms I trust, I’ll be moving to high quality beef over quantity. However I wouldn’t risk buying un-inspected mystery meat with all these massive health and safety cuts. Prion diseases are relatively rare but fucking brutal way to die, and we narrowly avoided a prion epidemic with “MadCow”.
We had health and safety regulations because people used to die from bad, tainted, poisoned, contaminated meat. People will die again thanks to a few of the most greedy and evil humans to ever exist.
I remember the backlash against British beef about 30 years ago when BSE was found in the national herd, and vCJD cases started appearing.
There was a worldwide ban on British beef exports from 1996 until 2006, and a US ban from 1996 until 2020.
If there's a similar outbreak in the US it's likely going to be much more difficult to root out, especially with weak regulation and underfunded testing and implementation.
Hopefully it won't come to that, but the potential is there for something truly catastrophic to occur in the near future.
My partner is training in the medical field and she has, on multiple occasions said that prions are hands down the single most terrifying types of diseases. There's nothing they can do for you. They're all 100% fatal. There is no foreign bacteria or virus for your immune system or any medication to target. All it is, is a misfolded protein.
Depends on the exact disease, but pretty much. You could get unlucky, eat one tainted piece of meat, and then 5, 10, 20, 40 years later, your brain essentially starts falling apart from the inside.
Thats why there should be absolutely ironclad testing for this kind of stuff. The true scale of the consequences wouldn't be obvious for decades.
It screws the farmers. If they want to slaughter, they'll need to build it, and it's not cheap. Conversely, if they continue to sell to the processors, the Processor gets to set the price...It's just a dumb move to crow about.
The conservative media has spent decades convincing the ignorant and angry to blame government regulations and oversight for their bad wages and high prices. They dont understand what factories were like before unions and how dangerous snake oil and other products were sold around the country killing people until oversight was a thing. They dont realize before hazmat regulations transport accidents were deadly and could shut down entire areas from contamination. They dont see that regulations and oversight were placed on corporations because of incidents. They were written jn blood. Our rivers used to burn because of how polluted they were and these idiots dont know or care.
Yeah definitely gonna be real healthy with no regulations like the one saying there’s a limit on how much rat feces can be in your meat. It’s going to be so great having unregulated food so we can all get more diarrhea and sickness.

I'm sure this will go well for food safety... It's almost like the rules, regulations, and standards exist for a reason!
