Discussion They’ll get mad, but they will vote the same.
I swear to Odin, watching the local beef farmers in my town is like watching a guy set his own shoes on fire and then complain that his feet hurt.
These guys will literally lose the farm that their great-great-grandfather cleared with his bare hands, hand the keys over to a mega-corporation, and then drive off into the sunset in a $90,000 lifted F-250 flying three giant flags, chanting “AMERICA FIRST!!”
Every single economic policy hits them like a freight train—consolidated meatpackers squeezing their margins to pennies, trade war tariffs tanking export prices, input costs going through the roof—and their takeaway is: "We gotta vote Red harder next time."
It’s absolute poetry. They treat political loyalty like a religion. They’re sitting on the porch, watching their legacy slowly vanish into thin air, just praying that the next Big Mac-induced gas cloud floating out of Trumpledickskin carries the same divine authority as the white smoke coming out of the Vatican chimney.
"They're taking away our way of life!" Yeah, bro. You voted for the guy who gave a tax write-off to the giant corporate conglomerate that just bought your pasture for pennies on the dollar. But hey, at least nobody's making the cows eat tofu, right?

i didn’t want to own anyone, i simply voted for lower grocery prices. i’m a mom with 5 boys at home. that motherfucker said he was going to bring down grocery prices.
all I heard about democrats is they were going to give my boy some type of operation he didn’t want.
so at the time, it just seemed like common sense. I’m a busy mom and those were the facts that laid out to me so it seemed like an obvious choice for me.

I'm sure there's a video still around from 2015, when Trump realized he could actually win the primary — and he was at a press conference, shilling his various branded products on a table. Was like As Seen on TV. These TikTok videos of farmers pushing their beef remind me exactly of that Trump clip. They're eerily similar.

Yep. I have (or had) relatives who would complain about the smell from the factory dairies that had sprung up in recent years/decades, yet they voted for the policies that allowed it to happen. And they voted harder for it next time.
These people hate lib'ruls, trans people, gay people sometimes, and non-Christians more than they want to keep their own way of life.

And these people can't make the distinction between cheering for a sports team, which allows you to feel the whole range of emotions with zero consequences in real life, with treating politics as entertainment, where the wins and losses have real world repercussions. I’m pretty sure my kids want nothing to do with the farm and I have to think about that. There’s one farmer in my County that I would consider selling to but damn it, you get him aside or get involved in a group conversation with him and there is much disparaging talk about those less fortunate or not the same race or color as he is. Yet, he relies on those people to harvest his crops because he knows that he can pay low wages because they are a predicament. There is a belief in him that employees should be paid as little as possible.
I may just lease out the farm to solar or construct a mini data center, because I can (it’s my land), and enjoy the rest of my life. For the most part, it’s been a good one.2

They’re like the coal miners. She was honest with them when she said coal was on its way out. But that’s not what they wanted to hear. Hillary proposed spending $30 billion to switch coal mine areas to other industries like tourism and agriculture. She wanted to repair the infrastructure and extend broadband. She wanted to bring in job retraining and green energy. Her plan included safeguarding their pensions and healthcare. But nope, they went with the guy who promised to turn back time and make coal king again. They believed the guy who thought you dug coal with a shovel. 🤦🏻♂️

My brother had a phrase for this that I'll steal: rural people are stupid breeding moronic. You get a bunch of these people together, and they only talk to people like them, they only listen to their own opinions, because everything outside their little hick bubble is "socialism libcoded atheist gayness", and they end up drinking their own cool-aid. They never stop to wonder why it seems to be that the same people they've been voting for to govern their areas, have not, in literally their entire lives, half a century and more, ever been responsible for what's happened to them. Then they have kids, and they transfer all of that onto those kids. The smart ones leave, because they learn better and have no one to talk to on account of reading and an open mind are as good as signs of leprosy in these areas, and job opportunities are slim to none if you plan to do anything with your life that doesn't involve unhealthy amounts of country music and glyphosate/pesticide induced cancer.
Politically, they are gold fish. They never remember how often they've been screwed over by Republican fat cats, or corporatists. They never remember all the grants and programs started by a "liberal" that supports their way of life and strives to protect them from the same people they vote for. Every election cycle, a new straw-man gets summoned from the deepest wells of their Podunk bigoted hearts and paraded around to blame for whatever that ails them. Immigrants, when they need to conveniently forget who works their farms, builds and roofs their houses, but takes all the other jobs too somehow, gays when they need to pretend it wasn't corporations and wage suppression and tax gifts to the wealthy that made the nuclear family come apart at the seams when a single earner couldn't support a home and mom had to go work full time too just to have the same standard of life from eighty years ago. Abortion, when they remember how much they hate women and don't understand how biology works.
It doesn't matter what election and what's actually wrong with the world, your average conservative has no conception of how the world functions, no basis of knowledge beyond what they're fed in church and propaganda, and they have the critical thinking skills of the members of the People's Temple. Because that's what you're dealing with, not a political movement, but a cult. A religion of half baked worship of an idealized America that never existed, that's entirely supported on their racism, self serving cafeteria christianity, and a healthy dose of generational poverty.

My point was that the tactic began long before 2001. I grew up in Minnesota and watched in real time as the farmers switched from supporting the DFL to voting red, all the way back in like 1988.
Roger Stone and his friends came up with this bullshit after Nixon was impeached. Flood the airwaves with right wing bullshit, use the "moral majority" to turn abortion into a major wedge issue, use aids to demonize "the gays", etc. They've been working on this plan since the 70s.
Anyone who thinks this shit started with project 2025 is either really young or hasn't been paying attention for the last 40+ years.

They're entirely addicted to being bailed out, over and over again.
They won't properly rotate crops, they won't change from crops that use a lot of water but pay big money. They don't care about (or admit to) climate change. They don't properly pay taxes, especially when retiring & handing the farm to younger relatives. They use public land without proper leasing (like the Bundies). They want big, but cheap, machinery, but vote for the party that promotes offshoring. They want essentially slave labor, while wanting those workers deported.
There aren't as many farmers as non-farmers, but they're VERY devoted to ALWAYS voting. They ignore the propaganda that "both sides are the same", or that a vote "doesn't count". Just like evangelicals.
Many non-magats are easily suckered into not voting, or being told that if ONE ISSUE isn't immediately addressed, that they should not vote, and get revenge against The Establishment.
It's no coincidence that on the road pre-elections, trump & certain fringe politicians both said it was rigged (perpetuating victimhood & distrust of the voting system), and the country's (complex) problems could be solved DAY ONE, but the corrupt Dems refuse to do so.
Any group used to entitlement and power, earned or not, think that well being is zero sum. If women, minorities or non christians get into office, many of those in control are convinced they'll be treated just as poorly as they've been treating others for centuries.

Remember, these guys all voted for him 3 times! The farmers had to get a bailout in 2017. With January 6 and all the Epstein Files that clearly has Trump’s listed by far the most—they still voted for him. You can’t fix stupid. However, the ones losing their farms can go work retail and pull themselves up by their bootstraps wondering how they lost the farm that’s been in their family for 3 or 4 generations. But they can rest easy knowing that JD Vance is invested in a company that buys up all those distressed farms at pennies on the dollar, so at least their boy is a little richer now thanks to them and their life’s work. But don’t feel too bad for them because it will still be Biden and Obama’s fault because Trump and Fox News told them so.

I believe it’s a bridge too far for many Trumpers to vote D.
However, I do think their anger at Trump is real and will likely cause many of them to stay home and not vote.
I think we’ll see many Republicans opting out of these midterms. They’re disillusioned. They’re pissed off. This is how they will send a message about their anger.
Frankly, when you feel betrayed and hurt by your previous votes, you lack the motivation to vote that you once had when you were pleased with your party and president.

The title of the post is what we should try to aim to fix. Please folks, consider what I'm saying before just downvoting.
Fighting each other is what they want. It keeps us distracted, and lets them continue with whatever campaign they are rolling out. Like national park land being sold off to a developer? That's happening while we are all being instructed by our billionaires to enjoy the tears of some farmers having their livelihoods wrecked (not saying you, OP, are a billionaire [wish you were], just that this is what they want).
I know it is hard. It is in my friends and family too my brother. But how the fuck do we move forward, if saying, "FUCK EM LETS RUIN THEIR LIVES MORE TO ENJOY WATCHING THEM SUFFER" shouldn't be a workable solution?
This is a large part of the nation. And they have been conditioned with persecution fetishes and confirmation biases by someone who believes their purpose on earth is to lie, cheat, steal, lie more, pay off, buy out, cheat more, and lie even more, as much as necessary, to always appear to be "winning." So after being told for over 10 years in some form by this fucking guy that we all "HATE THEM AND WANT TO KILL EM AND TRANS THEIR KIDS AND FROGS," if we turn around and treat them with hate, well, trump wins, because this all NEVER GOES AWAY.
Luckily I don't need to have a solution, because I don't have one, but holy fuck we need one.

Farmers that voted for him have to be the dumbest people on earth. They already had a trial run in his first term with his instability and trade wars that required a bail out. They had a layout to look at in project 2025 that covered this. They saw a guy that said he only cared about their vote.
These people are really stupid and it's why so much time is spent demonizing education and higher learning(I'm not saying it's bad to go a different route but you should have enough sense to not treat higher education as useless or indoctrination).

There is some joy in it, but it unfortunately affects us all. I knew this shit was gonna happen. Like many of you, I have family and coworkers try to mansplain how Iran was a good plan because all other presidents kicked the can down the road. 🙄 Ranchers and Farmers will line up to vote for whatever vile politicians run republican next time. Its difficult realizing how stupid these people are. Most of them are genuinely good people. Good citizens, parents etc. Just swallowing the propaganda like its their job.

It’s all going to plan. The farmers go bankrupt and lose the farm. Large agribusiness friends of Trump buy up the farms at bargain prices. Trump gets his cut.
They may allow the farmers, who lost their farms, a chance to work for them. Of course, they will have to work for minimum wage.

And that's weird because that should actually be enough. Hell, not being a republican should be enough. It amazes me that we have to talk people into voting for the best interest considering that historically, Republicans have screwed Farmers again and again and again. What other reasons than "we promise not to blow up your farm the way the other guys do repeatedly" do the farmers need?

You are exactly right and I just want to give my perspective as someone who voted for that motherfucker 3 times.
I’m a mom of 5 boys who only eat burgers and these beef prices are ruining me financially. And now I can’t even trust that the hamburger meat we buy at the store is safe to eat.
That motherfucker promised he was going to lower grocery prices and lower gas prices. He said he’d make the prices go down but now they go up.
I feel like that motherfucker has spit in our faces and went against every promise he made that we voted for him on.
However, I will vote for that him 3 more times if I have the option. I am voting in November straight Republican up and down the ballot. I will vote for whatever candidates have that motherfucker endorses.
Trust me when I say there are millions of moms just like me and voting Democrat is just simply not an option for people like me.

honestly, i don’t like what’s happening. i want every Republican voted out of office in November. i want there to be a blue wave like no one’s ever seen before.
that doesn’t mean I’m going to ever stop supporting that motherfucker. I probably never will. I’m still going to vote Republican. I can’t just stop. And I can’t vote Democrat because of my beliefs.
