Roughly 80% of farmers voted for trump and now expect special treatment. They didn’t say a word when their boy cut healthcare, SNAP, VA benefits, childcare, rousted good immigrants, taxed people with tariffs, eliminated DEI, promoted racism/bigotry, etc. Tired of them whining, honestly.

Farmers are one of the biggest welfare industries in the world but vote like they never get anything for the government. Happens in my country too, they are all right wing voters but all the subsidies and benefits they use were put in by left wing governments. It’s a world wide disconnect

I used to work for an agricultural and fencing supplies business in the years leading up to brexit in the UK. I would estimate that 90% of our customers were Tory voters. Brexit ruined everything for them, EU subsidies stopped, exports became way more difficult, imports became more expensive, their cheap eastern european labour dried up. Some of them retired, some sold up, I know a couple have passed away, one by his own hand. Those that remain, that I've spoken to, blame labour, the EU, "woke" people. They will vote Conservative again, or Reform

Yep. Saw that watching clarksons farm. We’ve got a far right party on the rise here who want to ban migrants and the farmers are supporting them, even though they rely on backpackers to do their picking and if we ban migrants they won’t have any workers….

Because they got a bailout his first term. He cut their throats then but then he paid them off. They voted for him to hurt people they didn't like AND were hoping for another check. They're only mad now cause they're finding out they ARE the people Trump promised to hurt and the only people getting checks are the people Trump actually cares about.

I'm hoping there will be a next generation of farmers. I think this is all being done so huge companies can buy up all the farm land like JD Vance and Peter Theil has some investments in a company that buys up farmland cheap from struggling farmers.

Sadly true. It’s very hard to get into the business as a young farmer unless you’re born into it. My friends and I were, and we are proudly blue.

Yeah I think at this point you need to be born into it. And as more and more farmers lose their farms less people will be born into it. And I'd much rather have a bunch of smaller farmers regardless of how they vote then just a couple big companies owning the majority of farmland. But I do agree with people who think farmers that voted this way voted to fuck themselves. It's just when they end up getting fucked and losing their farms it's going to be worse for everyone because we all eat food.

Don't be fooled by farmers' whining. They aren't going to go under. If they decide to stop farming, they aren't going to sell. They will lease the land out and get a passive living that way, or they'll take out loans on the equity in order to get money to invest, and get their money that way. The farm isn't the valuable thing they have - the LAND is. They are not poor, and they aren't going to be poor. It's all a game to get everyone to feel sorry for them.

if you don't have live stock (like enough to sell to other people/companies) most farming is at most 2 weeks during planting and 2 weeks during harvest. now those two weeks are different for each crop. and harvest can be tricky for one person. Also some things do need attention during the year. and there is weather and timing.

Anyway, a 400 acre farm is roughly like 200 hours a year of work. Especially for large crops like wheat, corn, soy, sorghum and the whatnot.

Live stock is different, veggies are different, some fruits are more work.
