Discussion Am I the only one that doesn’t understand why Annie was forgiven?

Thumbnail

I don't care whether you love or hate the ending, whether you think Eren was character assassinated or if you think Armin is a shit character....etc. my biggest problem with the ending was the fact Annie got a good ending without getting absolutely fucking shat on by everyone else atleast in the process.

Like with Reiner and Bertholdt they showed some form of remorse and regret for their actions, and had to a extent noble causes and made sure there was no unnecessary suffering ( except for the time they killed Marco but even that was justifiable ) and Bertholdt got what he "deserves" for his sins with one of the best conclusions for a secondary character, while Reiner has to live with the guilt of his betrayal and actions and we got to see him develop from it making him one of the best characters in the show.

Meanwhile Annie helps kill ( Marco someone who was shown to be liked by everyone in the 104th ), massacres most of the Scout regiment psychotically ( she litteraly had no reason to spin that one guy like a yoyo and constantly treat the people she killed like toys ), kills Levi's squad basically his closest long time friends and ravages stohess city killing hundreds when fighting Eren not mentioning her complicity in the actual Attack on the walls and Shiganshina.

so what happens to her ? Oh she just hides in a Crystal for like 5 years and eats pie and its all forgotten no problem lmaaaaaao. No hatred or disdain from any of the non-Warrior Alliance members for her betrayal and what she had done to paradis or even the scouts, no accountability for participating in the attack on paradis, or getting shit on for helping to kill Marco by Jean just because "Reiner told her to do it", don't get me started on the fact that Levi didn't try to kill her ass the second he saw her for killing his squad and comrades like Zeke did or at least treating her like absolute shit like she deserves noooo they're buddy buddies now. Oh and in the end she gets to become a peace ambassador ( what the actual fuck she is the one person that doesn't deserve this position ) and gets to live happily ever after with Armin because she uhhhh suffered enough i guess or something.

Like holy fuck this bitch deserves the slowest most gruesome possible death out of every major/secondary character in the cast but she instead gets treated like she did nothing wrong and a happy ending. Like its not even the happy ending part that bothers me its the fact that LITTERALY NO ONE points out how horrible of a person she is. God i fucking hate this bitch

Fanfic – Self Promo The Unseen Blade — a Levi/OC fic about a girl with a special ability

Post image
8 Upvotes

I've been working on The Unseen Blade, an Attack on Titan fanfiction centered around an original character named Mei.

Mei has no surname, no known family, and an ability that she doesn't understand. She joins the Scouts hoping to disappear from some people.

Unfortunately for her, she ends up attracting the attention of a certain captain who doesn't seem particularly fond of unanswered questions... 😂

I'm currently almost 50 chapters into writing it, with new chapters posted 1–2 times a week.

If you like Levi/OC stories, slow-burn character development, canon-divergent storytelling, and a suspicious amount of Levi being irritated by one particular woman, you might enjoy it.

Discussion Would Levi be as popular if he were a standard height for a man?

Post image
108 Upvotes

Random thought: how much do you think Levi being short actually contributes to his popularity and appeal?

Imagine the exact same Levi, same face, personality, voice, skills, backstory, attitude, relationships, everything, except instead of being 160 cm (5'3"), he was around 180 cm (5'11"), so a much more standard height for a male anime character.

Do you think he would be just as popular, more popular, or less popular?

I feel like his height might actually be a surprisingly important part of what makes him so memorable. There's a really strong contrast between his small stature and the fact that he's Humanity's Strongest Soldier and can intimidate pretty much anyone.

If Levi had a more standard male height, do you think he'd lose some of what makes him so distinctive and appealing?

Or would it make absolutely no difference to you?

Fanwork Week Day 1 - Levi & his horse Fanwork Day 1: What's in a Name

Most of this fic is just Levi talking to his horse, but then Petra finds out he doesn't even have a name for his horse. The members of the elite squad try to help him think of a name for his horse, but Levi thinks that those names aren't quite right.

Here's the Ao3 Link

I do plan on doing a few of these, hope I can manage.

What's in a Name

Levi led his black mare into the survey corps stables after another return from a challenging mission. Other soldiers around him were doing the same, else they had shuffled off their duties to subordinates.

The mare was worrying at her bit, and little mounds of foam caked up at the corners of her mouth, so the first thing Levi did was unhook the bit and lift the strap of her bridle over her twitchy ears and let her drink her fill at the communal trough running down the center of the stable. He patted her neck as she quenched her thirst after the long ride into the walls.

"Good girl," said Levi.

His response was horse huffing and snuffing. The mare's hooves hit the wooden planks of the stable with deep hollow thunks.

Levi held the bridle over his arm, and when the mare was done drinking, he led her to her stall with a tap and a command to follow. Most scouts would halter their horses to lead them, but Levi rarely did.

When the mare was back into her stall, Levi unhooked the saddle bags and tossed them over the stall door. He unbuckled the strap around her breast plate and undid the girth around her belly that held the saddle in place.

The mare huffed and shook her mane as Levi removed the saddle from her back and hung that over the stall door as well.

"Feels good huh," said Levi, rubbing the tender spot on her nose. The mare stomped her forefoot as if in agreement. Levi dug through one of the saddle bags and pulled out a shiny red apple. The mare huffed through her nostrils, inhaling the fresh apple scent.

An abandoned apple orchard lay on their regular route back into the walls. If the season was right, and if there were no danger from titans, Levi would always pick a few apples to bring back with him.

"Yeah, I saved you some," said Levi.

The mare snuffled into Levi's hand for the apple, taking it up carefully with her velvety lips that seemed more dexterous than his own human hand, then crunched into it with her powerful back molars. She left nothing behind except a little horse slobber.

Levi wiped the horse slobber off his palm before continuing.

He ran his hands down the mare's legs, checking for injuries or hot spots. As he ran hands down each leg, he pushed his body weight into her flank, and when he got down to the hoof, the mare lifted it for him so he could check the underside and pick out irritating debris from around her sensitive frog. It was time to re-shoe her, but a trip to the farrier would come later.

After checking her over and not noticing anything that needed immediate attention, Levi stuck his hand into the back strap of a curry comb, which had short, stubby teeth instead of bristles which was the perfect tool for pulling the dust and shed from her coat. Levi stood on the back of a step stool that he kept in the stall to brush her back. He figured no one would notice since the stall door covered…

"Captain!" saluted Petra, standing on the other side of the stall door.

Levi stiffened, not particularly happy to be disturbed from the post-mission groom. He was relieved to see it was Petra who caught him on the stool. She was a little shorter than him, so she certainly understood the challenges.

"What is it?" said Levi.

"Commander wants to see you for a mission debrief," said Petra.

"Tell him I'll be up as soon as I'm done with this," said Levi.

He continued brushing down the mare, but Petra did not walk away from the stall door.

"You're dismissed, soldier," said Levi.

"Captain, he said you should come right away, that I should take over here," said Petra.

Levi tisked, that was annoying, "I won't be more than a few minutes, you can see to the tack once I'm done here."

"Yes sir," said Petra. Then she stood there, waiting.

Levi didn't particularly like being observed, but it was Petra so that was less annoying.

Levi finished brushing the mare down, and then he reached into his saddlebag and fed her another apple. He took up a bucket and Petra followed Levi as he walked across the stable to the food store so he could fill the mare's stall trough with a portion of oats and an arm full of sweet hay. He made Petra take an arm full of hay as well. Then Petra followed him back to the stall.

The mare gently nibbled Levis hair as he filled her trough, a thanks for taking care of her so well.

"Captain…" said Petra.

"What," snapped Levi.

He pushed the mare's head away, careful of her. The thing Levi liked about horses, was that they were strong. Levi was stronger, but horses were stronger than the people they carried.

Levi was getting a annoyed, but not at Petra. Most likely Erwin had ordered her not to leave him until he was on his way to Erwin's office.

"What's your horse's name?" asked Petra.

That question threw Levi off of his annoyance. What was his horse's name? What a ridiculous question. Who would name a horse?

"Horse's… name…" said Levi.

"You know, what do you call her?" asked Petra.

"Uh… I guess I call her horse," said Levi.

Oh, that was the wrong response, because Petra was standing in front of him now, trying to suppress a giggle. He should have made something up on the spot and then she would have left it. Levi could see the glint in Petra's eye that meant she had stumbled on an amusing tidbit about her Captain that needed to be shared. He knew this was going to become a discussion topic for the common room.

Levi sighed, he'd tolerate that kind of thing for the kids who put their lives on the line for him, but he didn't necessarily like the attention.

"See to the tack. I'll go see Erwin now," said Levi.

"Whaaaat you don't have a name for your horse?" Hange's voice soared over the din of the common room.

Soldiers clustered in groups around chairs, benches and tables. the groups roughly corresponded to squad and graduation date. Levi's usual group was a little bit different than that standard configuration. He wouldn't claim that his group was exclusively for elites, but that was how it always worked out.

"And you all do?" said Levi. He sipped tea from the cup that he was holding. Levi leaned back in his chair.

"We do!" said Petra the troublemaker.

"So what do you call your horse?" asked Levi, directing his gaze at Petra, genuinely curious.

"Artemis," said Petra.

"Sunlight," chimed Nanaba.

"I call my horse Paladin," said Mike, who sniffed and leaned on a bench against the stone wall.

Approaching footsteps heralded the arrival of Commander Erwin himself, who rarely made appearances in the common room.

"Sleipnir," said Erwin, looming over Levi's shoulder.

Levi shot Erwin a deadly glare, and Erwin wandered away, with his shoulders shaking in silent laughter.

What the fuck was he doing here? Nosy bastard.

"What about you, Hange?" asked Levi.

"I call mine, Maurice," declared Hange.

Levi raised an eyebrow. "That's a person name," said Levi.

"But it's also a name for a horse," said Hange.

"Then I've got to think of a name for my horse," said Levi.

"Ooh, what about Midnight?" suggested Petra.

"Or Shadow," said Nanaba.

"Black Lightning," suggested Mike, which was a legitimately horrible name in Levi's estimation.

"How about… Astrid," said Hange.

Levi crossed his arms and sipped his tea, "I'll let you all know when I think of something."

The sun shone over green fields and ruins of once inhabited towns. Levi and Hange rode beside each other at the head of their respective squads. Petra and Moblit rode behind. Just outside the gates, the land was free of titans at present, because Erwin had been running scouting patrols up and down the walls for the last three weeks, in preparation for this long-range expedition.

The horses were moving at a clip, but they were not moving fast enough to obscure conversation with the rush of wind past bodies moving fast.

"Hey Levi," said Hange, "did you ever come up with a name for your horse?"

Levi smirked. "Yep," he said and then he fell silent. He would let the unsaid hang in the air until one of them broke and had to drag it out of him.

They passed a stretch of field that had been abandoned to wildflowers before curiosity got the best of Hange.

"Well… what's her name?" asked Hange.

"Apple," he deadpanned.

Levi turned in his saddle to see the gooey expression on Petra's face. Levi smirked again.

"… because she likes apples."

Fanwork Week Day 1 - Levi & his horse Fanwork Day 1: Searching for Sugar Cubes

Hello fellow cultists!

I literally threw this together in the last hour or so, so forgive me for any grammatical errors, etc. I'm currently writing a long-fic over on AO3 and Levi's horse plays a significant role (at least for one chapter so far). I went ahead and recycled the name I'm using for that project for this one, because I can't see Levi's horse being named anything other than Sable.

I hope you enjoy it! xx

Searching for Sugar Cubes

Sable stamped down onto the floor, the straw coating the stone muffling the echo of his shoes.

He was late.

And he was never late.

Sable’s comrades paid him no mind. They busied themselves with hay and water, the events of the day rolling off their backs like a summer drizzle. But Sable couldn’t get the stench of blood and steel and fear out of his nose. It was a cacophony of brutality and death so strong it made him dizzy.

To make matters worse, he’d seen hide nor hair of Rider since he alighted from his back in the field, taking to the air like a raven.

When Rider’s weight lifted from his b ack, Sable felt the absence like the bite of a particularly vindictive fly, and he couldn’t shake the notion that something was wrong.

He hung his head and shuffled to the back of his stall. Did he do something to upset Rider? Did he stumble somewhere along the way? Did he not follow orders? Should he have fought to stay behind when a member of Rider’s herd grabbed his reigns and coaxed him to gallop forward?

Sable snorted and listlessly chewed on an errant piece of hay. He never wanted to disappoint Rider. Ever.

He didn’t know how long he stood there, mulling over his failings. His comrades finished their dinner and settled into sleep – their dreams full of fields full of sweet summer grass and extra rations of carrots. When Sable dreamed, he was always under a cloudless sky, careening through endless peaks and valleys with Rider – the wind at their backs. His dreams usually ended with them standing under the shade of an enormous tree, Rider’s callused hand resting against his shoulder, and endless stream of praises falling from his lips.

Sable was just about to nod off into this joyous reverie when the familiar scent of pine and soap wafted through the barn.

His ears swivelled behind him.

Measured footsteps reverberated against the stone, the sound a familiar tattoo that mimicked the pounding of Sable’s heart.

He swung around and arched his neck over the stall door, the smell growing stronger, the footfalls building into crescendo.

An exciting squeal escaped from Sable’s throat as Rider rounded the corner. He bobbed his head, encouraging Rider to come closer.

Even in the dim lanternlight, Sable could still make out the dark circles that stained the skin under Rider’s eyes. He carried extra tension in his shoulders tonight, as if the world couldn’t stop loading him with their hopes and expectations.

Sable would gladly carry the extra weight for him.

Rider came to a stop in front of Sable, the raven black of his hair matching Sable’s own. He expected they created a rather imposing image – not that Sable gave much thought about what they might look like to everyone else – a young stallion, black as night, and his Rider, cut from that same darkness.

‘Sorry I’m late, boy,’ Rider muttered, his voice tinged with exhaustion.

Sable stretched out his neck and breathed into Rider’s hair, twitching his nose as the feather soft strands tickled his skin. Rider reached out and gently placed a callused hand on his velvet muzzle. Sable lipped at the heel of his palm, overjoyed at the fact that Rider was here, Rider was safe, Rider was alive.

He moved away from Rider’s affections and grabbed at the corner of his jacket with his teeth. Rider pulled back, grey eyes widening with surprise.

‘Oi, knock it off,’ he bit out, but there was no malice in his tone. Sable looked at him expectantly. He knew what Rider kept concealed in the fabric and his mouth watered.

‘You’re a menace to society; do you know that?’ Rider quipped. Sable had no idea what that meant, all he knew was that if Rider staved off the inevitable, he might perish on the spot.

Rider reached into the folds and produced a small, precious, white cube. He offered the treat on an outstretched palm and Sable wasted no time in gobbling it up. He nodded his head as the taste dissolved on his tongue, filling his mouth with such an overwhelming sweetness he would happily gallop rings around the barn until he collapsed.

Rider regarded him with a small smirk and his expression dropped when Sable stretched out his head again, lips quivering with anticipation.

‘Greedy little bastard, aren’t you?’ Rider asked and Sable nodded again. Rider huffed out a laugh, but he revealed another cube and Sable knew then and there that he would ride into fire for this strange creature with zero hesitation.

He ate this second offering and snorted, pleased and entirely satiated.

Rider sighed and stepped closer to the stall door. Sable dropped his head and softly butted it against Rider’s chest. He reached out and rested his hand on Sable’s poll, gathering up his forelock between his fingers. Sable closed his eyes as Rider pressed his forehead against his own and he revelled in the feeling of Rider’s breath dancing across his face.

‘It was a hard day. We lost a lot of people,’ Rider muttered.

Sable whuffed in response.

Rider’s other hand pressed against Sable’s jaw, and he leaned into his touch. His head swam with Rider’s scent, but he could just make out the lingering aroma of old blood and burnt gas. Sable’s eyes fluttered open. If he could make out the prolonged odours of the fight on Rider’s skin, it was a hard day, indeed.

Sable wondered if they would ever be free of the madness that made up their partnership. If the endless running and fighting ended, would Rider still come to visit? Would he still make time to be a part of Sable’s life?

He would endure it – for Rider’s sake.

Rider took a step back and glanced up and down the aisle of the barn. He sighed before he scratched at the spot underneath Sable’s chin.

‘I have to go,’ Rider said. ‘Be thankful you don’t have to write reports.’

Sable nickered before he grabbed at Rider’s jacket again. There had to be another cube hidden somewhere – he could smell it.

Rider actually laughed, and for Sable it was the best sound in the whole world.

‘Can’t get anything past you,’ he said, amusement lacing through his strong baritone. Sable snatched up the last cube and nudged Rider in the shoulder, his dark brown eyes sparkling with gratitude.

‘Don’t get used to it – these things are expensive,’ Rider griped. Sable didn’t believe him for a second. Rider never failed to bring these tiny morsels of heaven with him every time he visited after a day of heavy riding.

Rider smoothed his forelock before he flattened his hand against Sable’s forehead. ‘I’ll see you tomorrow, Sable. Get some rest.’

Sable watched Rider before he disappeared around the corner, the tension rising in his shoulders with every step.

It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep after Rider’s departure. And when he dreamed, it was of that same endless sky and sturdy ground underneath his hooves as he and Rider raced toward the horizon. And when they finally arrived underneath the shade of that ancient tree, he was rewarded with his Rider free of worry and an infinite supply of sugared cubes.

I couldn’t stop thinking how it’s like I’ve seen someone who kind of looks like Levi and then it occurred to me just now, he reminds me of a young Romnick (Romeo Nicolas) Sarmenta, he was a child actor turned teen heartthrob in the Philippines in the ‘80s, early ‘90s (born 1972). He’s not super tall, either! And this is weird guys, I just checked, he has a grown daughter named Zeke!!! I got these photos off the net, this was Romnick in his teenage years.
