A quick rough and ready medieval marginalia inspired print. A lot of my prints have been me carving away and leaving thin narrow lines so it was a nice change to do something with lots of solid black.

Practicing reduction (and being less messy) with these mice based on an old book illustration. I screwed up the bottom mouse’s eye a bit, but I did manage to be less messy!

Blue rubber is the cheapest carving material I can find (though its a bit *too* soft at times) but it makes for a quite nice stamp! First stamp is a finalization of a sketch from my sketchbook that I really liked, and the second stamp is a monstera leaf!

I love mixed media finishes, so first image is coloured in with diamine 'Pink Champagne' and wearinguel 'Vayu' fountain pen inks! Though, i am tagging it as the stamps flair because I believe it fits better.

Question for anyone who reads this far, whats the best material to "back" your smaller rubber stamps? I intend to use these at least somewhat often and I do have a system that works but it is a bit clunky. Do you just double up the rubber with another cut out piece? A separate stamp block that you somehow mount your homemade stamp too? I'd really like to know because right now its a hassle 😅

Hi! I am experimenting with reduction printing and use Cranfield safewash inks.

However I find that they show through each layer and so the colours look quite muddy by the time I’ve done all my layers. I do try to go light to dark but obviously some colours are a similar brightness/saturation, just different. I let each layer dry completely each time (at least a week). Attached is a pic of a recent one where the colours don’t look that distinct.

Any advice? Should I do multiple layers, or are there better inks for reductions?

I got a couple lino sheets from this brand and i cannot get a good print out of It for the Life of me. What am i missing? What am i doing wrong?

6 layer reduction taking inspo from my monthly theme 'Cider Orchard'.

I ended up buying a cut crystal tankard for this and took photos but I wasnt vibing with the handle, in photoshop I removed the handle and stretched the glass to make it look more like a British imperial pint. You dont get cut crystal pint glasses but I thought it was a fun nod at the popular cocktail illustrations lots of people do of fancy drinks.

Layers - off white, grey, yellow, orange, dark orange/orange ombre. The last layer I did a brown/dark orange ombre up the pint and on a tiny roller whipped around the rim in a circle with a similar but lighter blend. The blends were my favourite parts and really helped it come to life I thought!

did these on some small erasers, hence the lack of detail

Making a print for my wife’s Comicon booth and I pulled this this morning thinking it would be the final, but it’s not. I’m going to lighten up the background pattern so the Tauntaun doesn’t get drown out as much and sticks out. Thoughts?

Pink rubber eraser

Hello, I’m a linocut beginner and as the title suggests I need help choosing the ink for a little project I’m working on. I want to make a set of matching bookmarks for me and my boyfriend and I need a gold ink that won’t smudge/leave pigment behind after printing. The ink I got in my little linocut set leaves my fingers stained even though my prints are fully dry, which isn’t ideal for printing bookmarks for obvious reasons.

Now I realize the reason my ink might be staining my fingers could maybe be because i applied it on too thick or used the wrong kind of paper or whatever, but either way I’d love some gold ink suggestions. Thanks so much!

Like rubber at Michael’s is extremely expensive and linoleum is hard to find.

Carved and printed a week or two ago. This is the second design I ever carved on actual linoleum instead of an ez carve block and I love how much easier it is to get a bit of detail. :)

Can see I use iPad to do a rough up design and see my own rough drawings with my existing prints of eye and diamonds. This print is about lesbians rights

Thanks for everyone’s help in these threads. I had to troubleshoot a lot of my problems and this sub has such a friendly vibe and wealth of knowledge. Thank you all for your guidance—even in Q&As from ten years ago, it all helps.

Materials: I used Winsor and Newton pigment marker paper (20lb, 75 g/m2) and Essdee premium water based black ink that came in my starter kit. (Sidenote: people commonly recommended a slab of plexiglass and it’s been a game changer for rolling my ink.)

So two days ago, I carved and printed the text, but I felt something was missing. What about a BIG NEON FLAME? Hell yes !

I’m not sure if it will look better with the flame in the background and the text above, I’ll show you when I’ll try!

I've only done linocutting a handful of times but want to do more; this was the most detailed one I've done so far and definitely my favorite! Based on photos I took of the Draken Harald Hårfagre replica Viking ship when it sailed through my town.
