Hair stylist for blondes?

I’m looking for a cut/color but I’ve learned the hard way that not everyone is really experienced with blondes/the lightening process. Looking for recommendations for someone who can do a more lived-in/low maintenance blonde and help bring some life back to my hair. The girl I used to go to moved and it’s about an hour and a half drive now, and that with the pricing increase is just a bit too much for me to afford these days.

Who did you use for sewer line replacement?

Called several companies advertising sewer line replacement. One came out and gave a sky high quote. Even though the quote was high, we called back to hire but no response back. Called several other plumbing companies and no call back. Would love more quotes

Who did you use that did a great job, was affordable, and communicated?

Wolverine Train (What the CoCo Train is aiming to be)

I am currently in Michigan traveling and with the whole Colorado Connector news that it is going on the ballot, I decided to get on the MI equivalent for Intercity rail.

After all, these are similar trains (speed, comfort, number of stops) that would be operating in Colorado from Pueblo to Ft. Collins if the ballot passes.

Pro's:

  • Speed: The train goes steady at around 80mph. Some sections are faster at 110mph. The CoCo is expected to reach 80mph, so I think the journey should be pretty good.
  • Cost: My journey was about $30 from Niles, MI to Troy MI. Renting a car would have been way more expensive. Glad to have this option.
  • No Driving Stress: It's so much nicer to not have to drive for me.
  • WiFi on board: Catching up on some email and preparing for this week. The speed of the WiFi is ok. Nothing amazing.

Cons

  • Uber connection: When I arrive at my destination, it'll be too late to catch the light rail or bus to my hotel. I could walk 2.5 miles, but it will be late and I have luggage. Anyways, the extra $20 do suck. I think this is what most cities in CO will have to work through. Creating connections between the station and where people want to go (downtown, museums, etc.)
  • Seating: I've been on the CA Zephyr. Those seats are a bit older, but have much more space. The seats on the Wolverine are comfortable, but I wish they had more recline. My trek is 3h 30min, so nothing crazy but if I were doing the full Chicago to Detroit or Pueblo to Ft. Collins, a bit more space would be nice.
  • Cafe Car: Options are a bit meh. I get that it is nice already to have snacks, but I'd appreciate something fresh like fruit or veggies. Most of the options are chips and sweets. It's ok, but it also depends how long you'll be on the train. I say bring your own snacks.
  • Edit: There are more food options apparently, but some of the healthier options were sold out during my trip. Sad. Maybe next time I get nicer options.

Anyways. Seeing the Intercity rail trip here in Michigan has solidified my thoughts that the CoCo Train is a good idea for Colorado. This train is packed, it is a great way to travel, and I see tons of people with luggage so I think it appeals to travelers and tourists.

Post image
6 Upvotes

Feed the City - Littleton is a monthly volunteer event where people of all ages come together to pack meals for those in the Denver metro area that are facing food insecurity.

The meals are picked up from our partner organization to feed individuals in need the same day.

September is special because it is Hunger Action month, and to raise awareness, we are moving our event (usually the second Saturday of every month) to the THIRD Saturday as we join communities across the country for Feed the Country on September 19th!

Sign up and additional information may be found here: https://www.tangocharities.org/feed-the-city-littleton
More info on Feed the Country: tangocharities.org/country

When: September 19th, but all other months the second Saturday of every month! 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM

What to bring:

We ask that everyone attending (any age) please bring enough supplies for 25-30 meals at a minimum:

-Sliced bread (wheat is preferred)
-Pre-packaged meat (turkey, chicken, or ham is preferred; we cannot accept any deli counter meat)
-Sliced pre-packaged cheese
-Large bag(s) of chips
-Tangerines (halos or cuties work!)
-Sandwich bags (please make sure they zip)

Can't make it to volunteer? Check the website for options to drop off pre-made lunches!

For more information, please reach out to me (Tiffany Heimbuch) directly. Hope to see you there!

Seeking last minute hair and makeup for 8-30 after 12pm event is at 5:30 in HR.

This is my last ditch effort to find someone to do curls that last (thick hair but not long)
and makeup (some acne cover up) with mascara, eyeshadow, and possibly eyeliner, for my 14 year old daughter. I’ve called around many places with not a lot of luck. Any help is appreciated, please message me your location and prices.

One stop shop would be helpful but I understand that may not be likely.

Thank you in advance!

Local Mechanic Recs

Had a mechanic for a handful of years but recently has felt like we've been getting destroyed on recommendations. They do an inspection every oil change and have a list of recommended services waiting for me when I get back, and it feels outrageous what they are quoting (recent quotes have been $900 for spark plug replacement, $300 to swap a $2 bulb)

Just wondering who everyone is using as I might be testing the waters.

Thanks in advance!

Littleton Public Schools puts mill levy override on the ballot

Thumbnail littletonindependent.net

The Littleton Public Schools Board of Education has unanimously voted to place a mill levy override (MLO) on the November ballot, giving Littleton voters the chance to weigh in on the district's future funding.

During a board meeting on Aug. 13, the board unanimously approved a resolution to place a MLO, which would increase the voter-approved property tax rate in order to raise additional funds for the district, on the ballot. This November, voters will have the chance to decide if property taxes should be raised to help fill the district’s funding gap.

Does anyone need a new window air conditioner?

Hey neighbors, I bought a brand new 8,000 BTU window air conditioner about two months before I moved out here to Colorado, and now I have no use for it. It‘s quiet, cools very well, and has a remote.

If you can pick it up from my 3rd floor walkup, you’re welcome to have it for free. Send me a message and I’ll send you the address. fcfs
