I am NOT a locksmith. Yale rekey question
I thought I'd ask the big brains here since I can't seem to find much online.
I recently bought a Yale YRL216, YRL226, and Assure Pro 2 (basically the YRD410). Best I could tell, these are all supposed to be KW1 keyed locks, so I got a KW rekey set. I found one video online that is a few years old that changed a lock that looks similar to the lock on the YRL226 that I installed today. They were using a special Yale pinning kit for it.
My question: Can I rekey these locks to all share the same key with the KW1 rekey kit that I got on Amazon? If not, what would be the best way to get these rekeyed together?

If the lock being rekeyed is a Kwikset keyway you likely need a Kwikset pin kit, if it’s a Yale keyway you likely need a Yale pin kit. You could get a universal pin kit if you really wanted to, or you could just take your lock to a locksmith and take any guess work out.

The video showed using top and bottom pins as well as springs under the top pins. I've rekeyed actual kw locks in the past and this is a different process, so wanted to make sure things were compatible before I tried taking it apart.

Sounds like a normal full rekeying process to me. Usually you don’t need to take the springs and top pins out, but you are able to do it.
Like I said, use the pin kit for the appropriate keyway. If you aren’t confident in it then take it to a locksmith.

Always a good idea to check for master pins anytime you rekey as well..dont have to remove drivers all the way to do this if your seasoned.
