I am NOT a locksmith. How to secure door both ways
An apt that I’m looking at there is a locked door (w a key) I am unsure which way the door opens so I am looking for something to secure a door both ways. I was thinking the steel door security bar that props onto the floor but if the door opens in the opposite direction, it won’t be any help!
Thanks!

You need to be careful of where you install this as the other commenter mentioned. I use one between the bathroom in my house and my master bedroom. It’s no risk as the bathroom and the bedroom have their own doors. I just don’t like people going into my room from the bathroom if we have a party or something.

If you can see the hinges (if it’s a standard US door) then it likely opens toward you. If you cannot then it swings away from you.
basically (and there are oddball variations of course so it’s not a hard rule)

So what you are asking for is probably against fire code and thus very illegal.
We need more information though to go off of such as location, application, pictures, and a better description of what exactly the parameters and variables are of the problem you're addressing
