Discussion A50x or...
I'm looking for a gaming headset and was looking at the A50x. It would be my first gaming headset
What I need is immersion in single player story games.preferably the being there feeling
Good spatial awareness during FPS games
Some oomph in the low end without it being distorted.
I play Sim racing titles, fps games and single player story driven games.
Would the A50x be a good match? Also are there any issues that you find annoying?
Thanks?

Ok so I haven’t had the A50X, but I have an Astro A50 from when I played on Xbox. I don’t know what all the differences between the two, but they’re effectively the same headset from what I gather. If you’re looking for a premium headset, the A50/X wouldn’t be my choice. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, the sound quality is great, but there’s a lot of background sound passing through the headphones. I also always felt like I was gonna break it.
If you’re looking for a Logitech, look into the ProX/ProX wireless. I’ve had mine for about 5.5 years and I’ve loved it. Doesn’t have ANC, but it blocks more background noise than the A50. If you have a way to try them both on, I’d recommend doing so

The difference between the A50 X and A50 GEN5 are the HDMI ports for consoles. On PC, they're identical, but the HDMI ports allow the Xbox to push to 24-bit audio and the PS5 to do the same on top of activating the external Game:Voice balancer. We don't tend to use ANC as it can actually remove tiny details of your audio from the game, so what you may be better with is a leather-like ear pad for the A50 X which can help block out background noise and turn the headset into a closed version.

In case you want to save some money the G Pro X2 are still good quality and awesome for FPS games, but I highly suggest the A50 Gen 5

Which platform are you gaming on?
If you're on a console, the A50 X is probably going to be the best as you're going to gain 24-bit audio and then can take advantage of the 3D spatial sound through the console or the game. If you're on PC only, the A50 X would probably be overkill, so I would step down to an A50 GEN5 as it's the same headset, it just doesn't have the HDMI ports for the consoles.
