Hi Reddit,
I’m 31F, and have been living in London for 6 years. I’m based in SW London with my boyfriend (10 mins journey from Wimbledon), but work in the City.
I have made quite a few good friends in London from uni, work and through mutual acquaintances in the past, however a few of them have left the UK. I now feel like it’s become much harder for me to make genuine friendships, perhaps as my confidence has not been the best lately and find it hard to initiate conversations with strangers!
I would especially like to meet new girlfriends, but I’m shy initially in group settings (although I’m not once you know me!).
I do have different hobbies (pole dancing, gym, Pilates), however I’ve found it tricky to convert this into meeting new people and making friends with them.
I enjoy café hopping, everything history and literature, sports and just exploring London or the countryside.
I know there are a few meet-up groups that look quite fun, have you tried any and have they worked for you? Or did you find yourself in my same situation and managed to make friends? Any advice would be most welcome!
Thanks
EDIT: other things I’m interested in is learning foreign languages (now improving my French and Spanish) , beauty, yoga, travels (who doesn’t), and videogames!

Hey Girls,
I am thinking to do laser hair removal and came across therapie clinics. They have a lot of branches as well. Has anyone been there or heard about any experiences.

This is a long shot but I’m hoping someone in this group can help me.
There were 6 of these bags made just for special Oner Active walk club events hosted in selected cities around the world — Manchester, London, Berlin, Miami, NYC, LA.
If there’s anyone in this group that has the royal blue NYC bag or the yellow Manchester bag and would be willing to sell, I would greatly appreciate it 💛🙏🏽

To the big boobed ladies on here, what brand can you recommend? Quality options please. I moved here some years back, still hasn't found something I really like.
I go back to work after maternity leave soon, boobs changed after nursing so need new bras.
Anything supportive that also gives cleavage at all? So far what I found, anything supportive doesn't give cleavage and visa versa...

Just as the title says, any recommendations for Hybrid/Volume lash extensions that cost £75 and below? I'm in Zone 2 East London so preferably somewhere close by, but okay if not as long as it's worth the trek!

2 part question!
For those who have had their eyebrows microbladed, anything you wish you’d known before / would want someone else to know before their first time?
Any clinics you recommend? I’m based in west Central London.

Hello! I am a 23F that just moved to London from Dublin. I’m originally from Texas but was living in Ireland for 4 years for study. Just moved to the UK to start my postgrad journey. Don’t know many people here and would love to meet people into clubbing, jazz (vinyl) and art.
I was very involved in the Dublin arts scene and I am looking to jump back into it; London addition!! Looking to start up Paint and Sip nights for small upcoming artists. I am an artist myself and would love to meet fellow painters ;)
Love to do things and I’m constantly running around. I’m open to anything really and love meeting people and trying new things!
If you’re interested in hanging out or going for a pint or even painting sometime please dm me🤸♀️🩵

This is the fourth night in a row that I’ve woken up with HUGE bug bites. What the hell? I’ve lived in London 9 years and I’ve NEVER known the bug bites to be this bad - am I the only one?
NB - before anyone asks - no - they’re not bed bug bites as they don’t followed the pattern!
Just single, enormous, itchy mosquito bites! It’s getting to the point where I feel self conscious wearing sleeveless tops because there’s like 8 huge red splotches on each arm 😢
The really frustrating thing is that whatever is biting me - I can never see or hear it when I go to bed?
Anyway, rant over. Love from your itchy friend x

23F Recently moved to central London from cornwall. I am in serious need of some friends🥹 making friends in your adult years is hard. please message me if you’re serious and willing to put in the effort to getting close! id like to chat on reddit a bit first but happy to give you my number once im comfortable.
A bit about me: I love museums, art galleries, being creative, reading, going on walks, cafes and food, open mic poetry and live music nights. Equally love a cosy glass of wine and a gossip night in. I’m not a big drinker/I don’t like clubbing but i occasionally drink wine. I love tea as my main drink!
id love some people i can discuss books with, visit exhibitions together, just hangout together. i have so much free time as i have like two irl friends😭
I also really enjoy video games, board games, and a card game called magic the gathering. i do have a nerdy side to me! i also love animals and don’t eat meat because of this
i’m a girls girl and looking for some women to be friends with 🫶 please no creeps or people far older than me. i’m left wing and class myself as a feminist
i do dress kind of hippy and i don’t wear makeup etc. idc about how you dress because i value who someone is but just incase you wondered what sort of person i am.

Made this after noticing the same pattern come up again and again: the man everyone else describes as charming, easygoing, one of the good ones, and the completely different person only his partner ever sees. It's not a coincidence when that happens. If you've ever clocked this gap in someone you know, or lived it yourself, this might explain what you're actually looking at.

I posted here a few weeks ago about a similar situation, and unfortunately it’s happened again.
I went to a social dinner where you’re matched with a small group of strangers specifically to meet new people. I made an effort to talk to everyone and ask questions, but barely anyone seemed interested in getting to know me back. A lot of the conversation was people bragging about their careers, money and lifestyles. Maybe I just had nothing to talk about because they were mostly expats who travelled around. I don’t know. I feel uneducated and uninteresting lol.
One person also came across quite classist and seemed to scrutinise/react to a lot of things I said and did, which eventually made me uncomfortable and more withdrawn. She was being rude to me so I called her out on her behavior.
I know sometimes you just don’t click with a group, but I’m frustrated because I keep actively putting myself out there and still come away feeling excluded.
Is there something I could be doing differently? How do you actually find people you genuinely click with as an adult?

Just as the title says, I’m looking for a salon that is good for root bleaching and toning for blonde hair. Preferably not wildly expensive (if possible!)
I’m based in SE London, but can travel. Have been going to a local place for years but I’m kinda over it and wish to go somewhere better. Please let me know your recommendations and honest reviews!

Hey everyone!
I'm working on an independent project profiling community spaces across London and the people who run or work in them. This includes cafés, restaurants, barbers, community centres, markets, places of worship, and anywhere else that brings people together.
If you know somewhere with real character and a story behind it, or someone who'd have interesting things to say (how they started, what's changed over the years, anything memorable that's happened along the way), I would love and be super grateful for a recommendation - or if it's your own place, please get in touch directly!
I would be a short chat, maybe 20-30 minutes, plus a couple of photos of the person and the place. Nothing too formal.
And if you know someone with a compelling or interesting story that doesn't fit neatly into any of the above, please reach out too.
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi! I’m originally from Hong Kong, moved to London 8 years ago to build a life here and hoping to meet people who are in a similar boat — ie. You moved here or are planning to move here from another country, you’re a similar age range 24-30 years old, and are an openminded person who has a range of extroverted and introverted hobbies and would like to discuss and eventually meet up to do some of them! Strictly not seeking relationships but platonic friendships. My regular IRL hobbies are more masculine as you can see below, and I tend to have more male friends as a result, but have a few close female friendships as well so please do message if you’re into the below hobbies!
My IRL extroverted activities and hobbies that I currently do in London include:
Regular/semi regular: Muay Thai, bouldering, poker, playing mahjong, board game cafes, meditation classes!
One-off (more girly) activities I do sometimes: Badminton, ClassPass classes, pottery painting, browsing museums and art galleries, cafes, yoga and going for matcha/coffee etc.
My more introverted activities (and what I do more often these days) include:
Spending time with my 3 cats, painting, photography, watching and analysing TV shows and movies, reading literature, true crime, playing the piano, talking about global politics (I am centrist/moderate), lots of YouTube, dabbling in chess and geoguessr.
I already have different activity friends in each category like Muay Thai friends for example, but not friends who are interested in a majority or who are also more introspective, so it would be amazing to find people who are open minded.
I value deep meaningful friendships who are interested in talking about a range of topics, but who also value each other’s independence (ie. quality replies whenever you’re free or meet IRL, instead of constant texting!) I don’t wish to waste your or my time, so please only reply if you are genuinely interested in the same things and if you are okay with sharing pics/proof of life/voice message after some messaging, so that we’re on the same page!! Hope to hear from a few of you soon!
