Building up my lens collection for my OM System OM-3, and having a hard time deciding between the 9mm and the 12mm focal range for landscape/travel. Wanted to see what the community’s take is between the two lenses and which you guys would recommend. Primarily shoot street and have the 17mm (1st gen), 25mm PanaLeica (1st gen), and 45mm Olympus lenses along with the 12-45mm kit zoom for the OM3.

Though I agree this would be the right call to make. OM should put out a model that has real potential to sell and actually embodies the M43 philosophy of being small and capable (something OM and Panasonic have been failing at for years now), as opposed to a model that fits neatly into a already atrophying line up. Ofcourse I'm not a expert in the matter of camera sales.

I am looking to shrink down my camera gear. I bought the Fuji X-Pro 2 recently because of its film simulations and it's retro looks, it takes good pictures and the Fuji lenses are small and very good quality.

The olympus EM1-III was purchased for Macro photography and then I use it with the 40-150 2.8 Pro because the olympus IBIS can handle the lens well while other camera bodies can struggle with that lens.

Because of me wanting to reduce the size of my gear I just realised that the OM3 can be an option to replace both camera bodies ? OM3 is always praised for it's SOOC JPEGs so it can replace the Fuji X-Pro 2 theoretically and at the same time it can work well with the 60mm macro and the 12-40 but what about the 40-150 2.8 Pro ?

Is that lens too big for the camera body. Also how good is the ISO perfomance on OM3, the X-Pro 2 is comfortable up to 6400 ISO and then I normally use a Godox iM30 in very low light and works well.

Bonjour, je suis actuellement en pleine hésitation entre ces deux objectifs.

J'utilise depuis un an et demi un em10 ii que j'ai acheté en tant que nouveau papa pour suivre les aventures de ma fille.

J'ai principalement deux objectifs focale fixe, le 17mm f1.8 et 45mm f.1.8 (que j'adore).

J'en suis satisfait et ma femme aussi, car les photos sont bien plus belles que celles que nous prenions avec les smartphones. Mais en journée, lors de randonnée ou de voyage, je trouve contraignant de remplacer régulièrement les objectifs. Ma femme ne le fait pas du tout.

J'ai tenté d'utiliser un peu l'objectif de kit 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R, reçu avec l'em10 ii, mais j'ai un vraiment du mal avec, entre le système de déverrouillage et la qualité qui me semble bien en deçà des objectifs fixes (mais c'est peut-être juste subjectif)

Bref, beaucoup de contextes pour arriver au sujet, je recherche un zoom qualitatif (pas nécessairement le top, je reste un amateur qui découvre la photographie).

Je souhaiterais rester sur un format contenu, j'ai vu que ces deux objectifs ont une longueur d'environ 7cm, ce qui me semble être limite pour moi.

Leur poids est aussi à peu près similaire en étant un peu au dessus de 200g. Bref je trouvais que leur comparaison faisait sens.

12-45 :

+Qualité d'image (mais à quelle point meilleure que le lumix ?)

+Système Olympus/OM (si je prends un nouveau boîtier je pense que je resterai sur cette marque)

-Peut-être "trop" pour mes compétences et mon boîtier actuel

12-60 :

+Plage focale plus grande (objectif de voyage ultime ?)

+Moins cher (quasiment deux fois moins)

-f5.6 limitant ? Mais à quel point ?

J'ai recherché s'il y avait un sujet similaire avant, mais je n'ai vu le 12-45 ou 12-60 lumix comparés uniquement aux objectifs f2.8, plus grand, plus lourd, plus cher.

I get that there is a newer version but I don’t totally get why copies are going so cheap looking at UK auction prices ones have gone which appeared in clean condition for as little as £134 and often get put on buy it now around £200. If I didn’t have the Oly 25mm 1.2 and Pani 20mm and 30mm I’d be buying one as it seems like the best value premium lens at the moment.

I’m searching for a decent wrist strap for my OM-5. I just got this SmallRig Universal Vintage Wrist Strap. And it feels quite large, though I do like the look.

I’m curious what your thoughts are on decent straps. I think this one is too much maybe? But do you guys know any similar - though smaller - ones?

Believe it or not, it was my first time shooting moving cars. These are the best pictures of 1200, so quite a lot of waste but some turned out good. Just wanted to see what I can achieve with my camera. No C-AF, just fixed focus point on track.

Lens: 40-150mm F4-5.6

Looking to buy a solid camera for film projects and some potential client videography work.

My main criteria include good color science or at least natural looking, solid build, either really good stabilization or none at all, the lens mount and sensor size should be easy to adapt a variety of lenses that include vintage super 16 and anamorphic.

I'd like to also have a minimum of 10bit video and have built in log or raw capabilities.

I already own several Canon EF mount and Micro Four Thirds lenses but am not married to them and am willing to switch.

My budget is around 1500 to maximum 2000 canadian dollars.

I would really like to get some closure since it feels like I either end up in a dead end or am looking for the wrong things. Any recommendations are welcome!

I have an older Lumix 12-32mm that had a dirty inner lens element (significant flare/haze when there was any bright light in the picture).

I took it apart and cleaned it. Putting it together it is impossible to reverse lense elements as they are fixed into modules and slot together using various mechanisms.

After putting it back together, the haze was gone, but I noticed that most of the pictures were a bit blurry unless the F stop is high (>7+).

When I say blurry i mean that while the image looks passable on the preview screen, when I zoom in, I can't read text in the picture a few feet away. I am using this on a OM5 mki mounted on a tripod and i am comparing it using equivalent settings to a an olympus 14-42mm kit zoom and a lumx 14mm f2.5, where i can clearly read the text at the respective zooms and aperture and shutter settings. At the higher fstops, the clarity of the image rivals the other lenses. The same issue exists when I use a panasonic GF3 so it is not a cross compatibility issue.

I have taken it apart several times thinking maybe something was out of alignment but the design of it is pretty much idiotproof (it is possible my idiocy transcends this though, but i think the lens alignment is fine). All of the connectors seem in place and ribbons are intact to visual inspection. I cleaned all the connectors using alcohol.

It is pretty much impossible to use P or Automatic modes as they are always blurry. The only way to make it clear is to force the Fstop high using A mode (or S mode altering the shutter speed).

Autofocus seems to work ok (focusing on something closer / background yields clear pictures (assuming im keeping Fstop high). If i use a lower fstop, it is blurry but focusing on nearer objects seem slightly clearer than focusing on something far away.

Unfortunately there is no manual focus option on this lens.

All 4 corners seem to be equally blurry (no corners are sharper than others making me think it is not misalignment).

There is no signficant aberration if I shoot a white text on black background (fstop at 9).

What can i do further to diagnose the root cause of why my lense is blurry?

Why does it not work when I use P or A? is this a focus problem? is this a communication problem between the camera and lens? Or is this an inherent lens problem?

btw - this is a cheap lens so its not worth it for me to send out to a pro.. i'd like to take this opportunity to understand cameras/lens function even if I never get this to work correctly, it would be nice to fix it though!

...part of me wants to spend a whole lot less and just get an E-P7. The only reason I even want anything is because this old workhorse has a shutter count over 30k and I know it wont last forever. It would be cool to have those color features the E-P7 has...not sure I'm crazy about a fully articulating screen....I don't shoot sports or animals really. For someone like me it's going to come down to pricing. With the rumored specs, it's not like I'll even be getting any future proofing benefits. Just thinking out loud if anyone cares to chime in.
