Validating and moving towards the MVP Phase in our Startup Journey

A quick update after a while.

Over the past few months, I’ve been continuously speaking with our target audience, especially D2C brands, to understand their day-to-day challenges and validate the pain points we’re solving.

The conversations and feedback so far have been extremely encouraging. We’re seeing strong signals that these are real, recurring problems, and more importantly, there seems to be a much larger opportunity to solve them as we look ahead.

With the core pain points getting validated, we’re now moving towards the MVP phase and simultaneously building a community of early adopters who can work closely with us as we build and iterate the product.

At the same time, I’m still looking for the right technical co-founder to join me on this journey. Ideally, someone who has strong hands-on experience building real-world products, a solid understanding of technology and AI, and is excited about building something from Scratch level and growing.

If you’re someone who fits the profile, or you know someone who might be a great fit, please reach out to me in DM.

📍 Co-founder preference: Delhi/NCR

Happy to share more about the product and what we’re building over a conversation.

Need Career Advice: Starting as a Data Analyst but Want to Move into ML/AI

Hi everyone,

I'm a 2027 batch final-year Data Science student. My college doesn't provide much placement support, so I've been applying on my own.

Recently, I received an internship offer for a Data Analyst role at one of the well-known FMCG companies. I have basic knowledge of data analytics (SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI), but my long-term goal is to build a career in Machine Learning, AI, or Data Science.

I accepted the internship because it was a great opportunity and I didn't have many other options at the time. However, I'm worried that starting as a Data Analyst might make it difficult to transition into ML/AI later.

My questions are:

- Will starting my career as a Data Analyst become a barrier when applying for Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist roles later?

- How can I make the transition while working as a Data Analyst?

- What skills and projects should I focus on during the next 6 months?

- Has anyone here successfully switched from Data Analytics to Data Science or ML? I'd love to hear your experience.

Any advice or roadmap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

[Hiring] Member of Technical Staff, Applied Research Scientist at Runway | Remote | Salary $260K – $370K

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.

We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.

World models offer the most clear path to general‑purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.

Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

We’re looking for Applied Research Scientists to help us develop cutting‑edge computer vision and generative models to power our creative tools. We are looking for candidates with a strong background building impactful and novel machine learning projects, strong software engineering skills, and who are deeply interested in seeing their research materialize in novel user interfaces for creative tasks.

This is a cross‑functional team that requires strong communication and collaboration skills; you will have a chance to work with our backend team to help bring your research models to production, and with our design and frontend engineering team to make sure that your machine learning models work in harmony with the user interfaces that interact with them.

What you’ll need

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering or research experience in machine learning, computer vision and/or graphics
  • Expertise with programming such as Python, C++, CUDA, and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. Very strong programming skills and ability to write clean and maintainable research code
  • Deep interest in building human‑in‑the‑loop systems for creativity
  • Passion for seeing research through from initial conception to eventual application
  • Experience mentoring and teaching other researchers
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills

Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.

There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.

Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.

Apply: Member of Technical Staff, Applied Research Scientist at Runway

When should I start applying for Junior AI Engineer jobs?

I’m trying to figure out when I should start applying.

I don’t have internship experience yet, but I feel like my technical level is already above a typical internship and getting closer to junior/mid-level applied AI work. What I’m mainly missing is production experience.

My current skills include Python, RAG, document parsing/chunking, embeddings, Qdrant, hybrid retrieval, LLM APIs, validation/repair pipelines, LangGraph, tool calling, state/memory, and agentic AI.

Should I start applying now, or focus first on deployment, Docker, cloud, testing, monitoring, and making my projects more production-ready?

Looking for a Referral / Job Opportunity — Please Help Me Get My Foot in the Door

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking for a job opportunity and honestly, I could really use some help. The job market has been extremely difficult, and I’m trying every possible way to find an opportunity.

I’m a B.Tech CSE graduate and I’m mainly looking for Software Engineer, Data Engineer, ML Engineer or AI/GenAI roles.

I’ve solved 240+ LeetCode problems and have a strong foundation in DSA and problem solving. I’m comfortable with C++, Python, SQL, ML, Deep Learning, LLMs, RAG and GenAI.

I previously worked as a Technical Intern at Translab. I’ve worked on an AI-based OCR platform for multilingual PDFs with LLM-based document understanding and summarization, which received a 4+ star user rating. I’ve also built a RAG document chatbot and a modular ML feature-engineering pipeline.

I’m open to pretty much any genuine opportunity right now — full-time, internship, remote, hybrid, on-site, contract or freelancing. I’m also flexible with compensation. Right now, getting an opportunity where I can work, learn and prove myself is more important to me than getting a high salary.

If anyone here is hiring, knows someone who is hiring, or can refer me, please consider helping me out. Even a small lead, referral, recruiter contact, or forwarding my profile would mean a lot to me.

If anyone is interested, please DM me and I’ll send my resume, portfolio and details of my work/projects.

And honestly, if someone is able to help me get hired, I’m willing to financially show my appreciation for the help if the company’s referral policies allow it. I’m not asking anyone to bend any rules or put their job at risk — I just want to genuinely thank whoever gives me a chance and helps me get through the door.

I know everyone gets messages like this, but I’m genuinely asking for help here. If you can’t refer me yourself, even sharing this with someone who might be hiring could make a huge difference for me.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to anyone who can help.

Recent CS Grad with C++/Python ML Portfolio — Seeking Brutal Feedback on My Stack & Strategy (Getting Zero Traction)

Hi everyone,

I recent Nigerain graduate with a degree in Software Engineering and started my job hunt targeting Juniur ML Engineering, Python Backend, or Systems/AI Engineering roles (open to remote, hybrid or onsite).

I have hands-on projects across classical ML, NLP, CV, and C++ systems dev but the job search feels completely dead right out of the gate. I’m starting to wonder if my stack is misaligned with what hiring managers actually want in 2026, or if my distribution strategy is broken.

I’d really appreciate some brutal, honest feedback from experienced ML engineers or tech leads on what I’m doing wrong and what I should tweak to improve my landing rate.

  • Core Languages: Python, C++, SQL
  • ML / AI Frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow Lite (LiteRT), XGBoost, LightGBM
  • Backend & Systems: Flask, FastAPI, C++ / ImGUI desktop integration, REST APIs, Git

Highlighted Projects in My Portfolio:

  1. Angler ML (Flagship): A CPU-optimized, no-code ML playground and data-wrangling desktop app built in C++ / ImGUI and Python to train models locally without heavy GPU overhead.
  2. Explainable AI vs. Human Text Engine: NLP pipeline built with TF-IDF, feature engineering, and Scikit-Learn to detect AI-generated content across domain texts.
  3. OffenseGuard & Threat Detection: TFLite-optimized text moderation pipeline for real-time edge classification, alongside a Random Forest URL phishing detection framework.
  4. Predictive Analytics & Computer Vision: End-to-end regression suites using XGBoost/LightGBM ensembles, plus custom CNN image classifiers exported for web/edge deployment.

Where I Need Your Feedback:

  1. Portfolio Perception: Does a portfolio featuring custom C++/ImGUI tools alongside lightweight TFLite deployments actually stand out to ML managers, or are teams strictly looking for cloud/LLM-wrapper projects right now?
  2. Missing Friction Points: Looking at this stack, what is the #1 technical skill I am missing that would make me immediately hireable as a Junior ML / Backend Engineer? (e.g., Docker/K8s, MLOps tools like MLflow/DVC, CUDA, or deeper distributed systems?)
  3. Strategy: Is the cold ATS pipeline completely dead for new grads with this profile, and should I strictly pivot to direct networking / contract platforms / micro-SaaS validation instead?

I'm ready to take constructve criticism and rebuild whatever needs fixing.

Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to review!
