Mod Announcement Ai Scammers

There has been an influx of ai scammers trying to join this group. Not sure why or what benefit they gain from it, but going forward, the joining process will involve a selfie video verification with your username written on a piece of paper that you will crumple into a ball and undo. This is to ensure the safety of this group and the authenticity of people joining.

Mod Announcement Digitals Guideline.

Post image
163 Upvotes

Here is a how to on taking Digitals.

  1. Digitals should be taken on a blank background, preferably white wall with no distractions around you. Leave 1 inch of space between the border and your head/feet.
  2. Do not wear makeup
  3. Do not put your hands up, in your belt loops or pockets.
  4. Do not sit in photos
  5. Do not hold your hair back. Put in a clip or pony tail.
  6. Wear something form fitting or a bikini/swimsuit. No baggy clothing.
  7. Include all of your measurements.
  8. You need a...
  • Close up head shot (above the chest).
  • 1/2 shot from the waist up
  • 3/4 shot from the waist up.
  • 4 full body shots, front, both sides and back.
  • A profile shot (from the side and not looking at the camera)

The goal of digitals is to show an agency recruiter what you look like and nothing more. They don't need to see your modeling ability. That is what a comp card is for.

When posting, you must post the full set of digitals (not 1 or 2 images asking what the sub thinks) and your measurements in imperial units, not metric. Follow this guide or your post will be denied. When you post, we assume you already know the rules of the sub and if we continue to see low quality posts in regard to digitals, you will be subject to removal or banning.

The Mod Team.

6’0” | 38” chest | 32” waist | 37” hips | US 10 shoe

I’ve always been told I should do it and tried out taking my own digitals to see.

I love the art of runway and hope I can do that one day.

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Working full time while doing part time modeling/acting

I just got promoted to a new job along with getting signed with an agency, where this job is more flexible compared to my previous role however I am "on call" if anyone I'm supervising needs anything. I know they say that agents understand we work full time jobs and I want to show up and give priority for both works (like using PTO, working with flexible schedule, etc). I guess I need some reassurance or advice on what this means if I have to turn down a gig due to late notice, especially since usually I can't put PTO in unless it's two weeks ahead of time (although I need to double check on this). Both opportunities came down at the same time and it feels exciting yet so overwhelming. Any thoughts from those that work a typical full time job and juggling this at the same time?

My dream is to walk for luxury brands, but I've heard I might be too short for runway. At the same time, I've been told my face could carry me. I am based in LA; 5'11, 33" inseam, 26" waist, and a 33.5" chest. Any thoughts? What lanes should I target?

AGENCY Need advice on a Mother Agency contract before signing

After many submissions to various agencies, I was thankfully offered representation by a mother agency and they sent me a 26-page worldwide representation agreement. I’m seriously considering working with them, but I want to make sure I understand what I’m agreeing to before signing.

I had an initial Zoom with the agency owner, and she mentioned that they get a lot of casting requests for commercials and acting roles, which I’m definitely open to and would be happy to pursue. That said, I’d also really love to build more in activewear, beauty, skincare/haircare, wellness, lifestyle, and e-commerce modeling. In the meeting, I asked her she can see me doing any of those and she responded definitely. I really want to ensure they would actively pitch/submit me for those types of opportunities or primarily send me castings that come directly to them.

Also, they are based in Nashville and opened up last October and I am based in Dallas. People signed to her seem to be doing shoots (idk if paid or unpaid), bridal work (I would love) and being invited to influencer events on behalf of the agency. The biggest things that stood out to me in the contract:

  1. 3-year exclusive term, worldwide, with automatic 1-year renewals unless I give 90 days’ notice.

  2. 10% mother agency commission on “Gross Compensation.”

  3. 20% commission on direct bookings they procure or substantially coordinate.

“Gross Compensation” per the contract includes modeling, influencer/creator compensation, sponsorships, branded content, affiliate compensation, digital media, social media, TV/film, etc.

I already have an established creator/influencer business, so I’m concerned the contract could potentially give them a commission on brand deals/opportunities that I source myself or relationships I already have.

The contract doesn’t clearly spell out that pre-existing contracts, campaigns, or relationships are excluded from commission. Should I get an explicit carve-out in writing?

One thing I’m especially trying to figure out is whether the scope of representation matches what I actually want. I’m totally fine with commercials and acting being part of my career, but I’d love for the agency to also actively pursue the beauty/activewear/lifestyle side of my modeling career.

Does this look normal for a legit mother agency, or are there provisions you would absolutely negotiate before signing?

Very interested in hearing from models who’ve worked with mother agencies before. What did your contracts look like regarding exclusivity, commission on creator/influencer income, pre-existing contracts, termination, post-termination commissions, and the agency’s actual responsibility to submit/pitch you for work?

I’m planning to have an attorney review it as well, but I’d love to hear about anyone’s real experiences.

ADVICE/FEEDBACK need to update digitals and could use some feedback (current look at the end)

Hey all, these are the first digitals I (M23) took since I began my journey into trying to get into commercial modeling in LA. Since then, my natural brown hair has grown out and I've gotten my hair cut, so I wanna retake digitals that better represent my current look (last slide). I'm doing this all myself, so I'm not sure what poses and facial expressions I should try. I'm also my own photographer and editor, so I also welcome feedback on anything related to the photos themselves and how they should look (lightning, backdrop, etc). Thank you all and best of luck on your continued journeys :)

Height: 5'10"

Would love to connect with those interested in working with more distinctive, sculptural features. <3 I’ve shared a lot online around beauty, individuality, and owning what makes you recognizable, and I’d love to bring that perspective into more beauty + fashion campaigns. Would love to connect here / IG! https://www.instagram.com/by.cd_/

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Going to those FB Modeling MeetUps

My post is ~~ Do they work for you?? I paid for entry for one just yesterday, and the session lasted 2.5 hours, and the host talked for over an hour from that, and Q&A was about 20-30 minutes from that. So getting headshots and networking was a bit tight with everyone trying to figure out who to talk to first and which model/ photographer is going to be paired with for headshot.

I did like that we got a variety of talent from the people who entered this meetup. . We had a two mom-tographers who just shoot family images on FB, a internet content creator, and even a supposed model scout who suppose to link models to jobs {though he seemed creepy hanging around a 5'10" model who is already established and signed with a mother agency ; since he seems like he was gatekeeping her away}

So would I return to for another round ?? I am kinda OK with that but not excited to return. I do understand the hosting model who talked too much was trying to help new models with all of that talk. It was fashioned as a networking event, with industry insight even some Q&A and there just was not much to complete.
So let's hear some good meetups events and where are they at ??

ADVICE/FEEDBACK How to improve my appearance as a commercial model?

I have sent some temporary digitals to my agency, because I got a new haircut. Professional photos will be taken later and replace these. I am only a commercial model. (I am planning to fix my shoulder tattoo in the near future)

My reason for making this post, is because I want to work on my appearance and listen to anyone who has advice on what I can do to improve my look?
If it’s relevant, i am only 170cm tall.

Thank you for your time!

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Casting director help for FW

A couple months ago I went to a huge casting with one of the world’s biggest casting directors for one of the big brands showing right now. It was for their cruise show.

I thankfully made it through the casting directors line of approval and got to meet the designer and got to walk for the designer. From that point I was dropped, and only one of the finalist made it through to actually walking the show. Later that week, I was also dropped from the option of that brand showing in Europe.

What I’m basically asking is do I still have a chance with this casting director to approve me for other jobs or is it a one and done type situation? I feel like I’m being told good things about my agency just boost my mood, but I’m a little worried. There’s a lot of mixed things online about how casting directors operate and I just want a second person’s opinion. Thank u :)

Hello! These are digitals I recently submitted, I'm 5'6 29/23/33 size 00-0 located in South Florida (Miami market) I'm primarily interested in commercial work. I was wondering if these work as agency digitals as-well as anything I should change for my next round of submissions (aka if I should go with a professional photographer)

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Signed model needing advice on current agency

I've been signed with my current agency for a bit over a year now, with a 2 year contract. In that time, I have barely booked any work - probably less than 10 jobs total. I go through month-long stretches where I don't even get any castings or self-tape requests. My agency said my book is strong. I am constantly trying to test and improve myself as a model. I'm not expecting to be America's Next Top Model here, but I do believe in myself and believe I should be working WAY more than I currently am. I have a very versatile, classic look, and I just don't feel like my agency is marketing me correctly. I've had multiple discussions with them about this to no avail.

I'm wondering what is the smartest thing to do from here. Is it a me problem? Is it my agency? I've considered applying to new agencies but don't want it to get back to my current agency and cause an issue. I also am worried if I leave my current agency and apply for new agencies that no one will want to sign me. Any advice on how I should handle this?

ADVICE/FEEDBACK Feedback on Modelling Category to Pursue

Thumbnail

Hello fellow models,
I was recently approached by a model scout and asked if I would be interested in modelling. I always have been but never thought it was an option for me.

My dad took my first digitals yesterday and I was wondering, based on these digitals, what modelling category would suit my look. I have already sent these to my model scout but any feedback for further digitals would be much appreciated.

I know I need to become leaner and clear my skin so if you have any advice on how to do that safely and efficiently, please let me know.

Thank you
