Conference mun prep
theres a conference thats upcoming and im china in sc. ive been to mun conferences before but i've never been a country like... china ig. and i absolutely bombed it last time when i was uk in sc and i don't want a repeat of that. any tips? pls🥹

hello!! i think china is a great country in sc if u play it well :) idk how much mun youve done so forgive me if this is trashy help 🙏🏾 what helps me in sc as a speaker is:
starting my speeches with really intriguing hooks
pre writing most/all of my speeches (this is good for seen resos - it takes a lot of time but it can give u solid speaking material) to elevate your status in front of the chair for the seen - dont always do this but if u arent comfortable its a good tool to have (nowadays my partners and i just drop bullet points down and give speeches - it gets better and comes more naturally as u continue mun)
citing/quoting UN charter articles mid speech to explain why a clause is bad - as china, state sovereignty will be a massive theme of your speeches (as china doesnt like non-state intervention) so articles 2(1) (equal state sovereignty) and 2(7) (against un intervention) will be your best friends - just dont spam them :)
predone signage sheets - instead of writing down your amendments on scrap pieces of paper and handing them around and having to explain ur amendment to everyb, just print out an a4 sheet with your amendment and an explanation as to why
study your opponents - as china this will be super helpful considering youll know what to expect in terms of opposition skill level and the points they try to make!! try to predict their pois, amendments, and speeches, and figure out how to dismantle them or ride off their coattails and give a banging seconding speech. you can also have quick rebuttals to any opposition they might have to your amendments. focus on assessing the delegates' threat levels and preparing a case against them in a way (as polarising as it seems). figure out what opposition people may have to your proposals and prelearn rebuttals. if you are china, you have LOTS of problems regarding human rights and military issues. when debating other P5 (and non P5), it is useful to have instances of their screw ups up your sleeve as well.
know your stuff - memorise the key stances of china, it doesnt look good if mid poi you are scanning through 50 pages of notes to find a rebuttal for sovereignty.
dont be afraid to speak lots - my first few muns i only spoke a few times. i kinda realised that speaking more (and NOT spewing nonsense and waffling) - as simple as it sounds, is not an issue. speak VERY confidently.
as china (or russia), learn everything about sovereignty because those can be excellent defensive points to strike a clause, amendment, or resolution. prepare to have to rebut other delegations' rebuttals for that.
sorry if some of this stuff is super basic - i tried to cover all bases because i know NOTHING about you as a munner :) just do your research and speak confidently and youll do perfect!!! good luck
