Research Google CS PhD Fellowship 2026 [R]
Has anyone got the decision notification yet? Please mention decision (e.g., approved/rejected) and geographical area (e.g., North America) in your answer.
I know the official notification date is 31 August, but putting this here before hand so folks can post updates asap when they get them.

My silly ass thinks there might still be a chance lol

Maybe maybe not… I still hope for something good at least for any of us here.

AoE time has passed. I am pretty sure that if we haven't gotten any news, we are not getting the fellowship. Tough luck.

The admin at my school said she hasn’t heard either way and told me that last year, everyone found out on September 2 from my institution (I’m at a US school that typically has at least one person get it each year- definitely had someone last year who got it). She told me to just hang tight!

If anyone got accepted, OR if *they know someone who got accepted*, please share! Would be great if you could share decision date and geographical area as well.

I know everyone here is super anxious waiting for results but I’d recommend just being patient. Some acceptances last year didn’t come out until Sep 10 and there isn’t great communication from Google about it. Just sit tight hopefully we’ll all find out sooner rather than later

I agree it's silly to sit around anxiously all day checking reddit. At the same time comforting to know we are all in the same boat

Not silly at all

Very silly. Firstly, you and everyone here are far, far more likely to be rejected than accepted due to how fierce the competition is, unless you are a super cracked kid with a top tier application (which in that case you’d probably would have a better mindset). Secondly, why dwell over something you have no control over since april? Knowing a decision today, tomorrow, or in October makes no difference.

Highly likely we got rejected now? 😕

u/RevolutionaryIssue59 1d ago
Probably. Batch rejection email will be sent later today or tomorrow lol

u/Beneficial-Ad6984 1d ago
Did you all have access to the application portal and there is no decision yet? I don't have access to that since school applied on my behalf

I just checked with my university, and they said that in the submission portal it says "In Progress".

Can people just state if they received a decision, without mentioning if it is a rejection or acceptance, if they have been told to not announce acceptance?
2
u/Cherry199729 13h ago
I was wondering the same thing but if it were me, I probably wouldn’t risk saying anything if I were accepted and could possibly loose the funding :( but the not knowing for sure part is killing me!!

I also know that last year recepient recived the acceptance on August 29th. Maybe they send out acceptance before.
2
u/Minimum_Ad9556 1d ago
No - that said 31 august
2
u/Medical-Collar-4483 1d ago
Yaa the website says August 31… But when I spoke to one the recipient from last year they received the email acceptance on Aug 29 last year
2
u/RevolutionaryIssue59 1d ago
That’s right, based on last year’s Reddit post another person got their acceptance on 30th Aug. (:

At this point I think the info we have is just pointing to the fact that we are all rejected haha

u/Minimum_Ad9556 1d ago
What makes you think so?!
1
u/RevolutionaryIssue59 1d ago
Accepted folks probably already got notified, days before the deadline.

I'm not fully sure about this, but I know someone who got the fellowship previously, and I think this person said Google notified acceptance beforehand. Meaning that, if this is true, and you have not received a notification, you didn't get it. I can't guarantee this tho, different editions might have different modus operandi.

I applied last year and they notified me when I was rejected around the same time they notify the people who was accepted

u/International_Sir_98 15h ago
Do you know that for sure ? You know someone who got accepted?
3
u/generalcarrey 15h ago
Yes, I am a doing my PhD in a lab and the guy next to me got accepted and I was rejected. We both got the mail the same day.
1
u/International_Sir_98 15h ago
Oh okay thank you for that insight. Was that day after the deadline?
1
u/generalcarrey 15h ago
It was on Friday, August 29th. I think that was the deadline as it was the last weekday of August, but I'm not sure.

u/International_Sir_98 15h ago
Oh weird so I guess they are just late this year. Based on what you say there is just one notification time. Thanks so much for sharing your experience

Also, what I know Google told this person is that it was prohibited to talk about it until the actual release date in October. So if someone got it, they might just not even write here. (As seen as the deleted user comment, who confirmed receiving the notification already)

u/SillyNews5539 1d ago
I wouldn’t speculate tbh. Last year was the first year it was university nominated to my knowledge, so it could’ve been weird circumstances
Also the person who said they got it seemed like a troll

I guess the results should be out today. Last year Aug 29th because that was the last workday in August. But this year last workday is today (but even today, should be out very soon or has been out)

Can you please also mention when (date) you got your decision, geographical area, and whether it was acceptance or rejection?

u/International_Sir_98 1d ago
Someone being notified early could also be from a personal connection. There is no waitlist, so I don't understand what the purpose of staggering it would even be
1
u/Own_Support1086 1d ago
Will they notify us directly with the university?
1
u/Medical-Collar-4483 1d ago
I heard both, they notify university and we also receive a direct email
1
u/Minimum_Ad9556 1d ago
Should all of us (who haven't received anything yet) just give up on this?

u/Medical-Collar-4483 1d ago
Not sure.. I also saw someone posted saying they received the notification on Sept 1 but it was a rejection notification
1
u/Mediocre-Egg-2043 1d ago
really depends on the region. there were people in Europe and Australia receiving acceptance email on Sep 10 2025

Nobody has heard anything? Or are the accepted people too busy celebrating to get on this subreddit
