In this economy, everyone's moving back home.

Shit's rough out there,  nobody hand feeds you strawberries.

That made me laugh out loud.

u/Xyno94 May 20 '26

My dad said no :(

536

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26

The hand-feeding you strawberries part probably weirded him out.

209

u/GiveMeNews May 20 '26

He is big on evolutionary pressures shaping human behavior instead of industrial society. So I sent him an article about how kissing as an act of affection likely developed from early humans chewing and spitting food into their children's mouths. Suddenly he isn't all about shaping our lives around evolutionary pressures! Principles require follow through, Dad!

68

u/spoonful-o-pbutter May 20 '26

You caught me off guard and made me spit a little on my phone 😂

71

u/Alarming-Instance-19 May 21 '26

That was supposed to go in your children's mouths!

I hate it here so much

ETA: This was a joke, I gave one of the awards, ya’ll Chill out lol

26

u/baselineRipple May 21 '26

I am absolutely dying laughing because that's funny AF & also a perfect example of why I chose the Childfree Life...I didn't want a little smartass like you turning my brilliant ideas & deep thoughts around on me like that 😂

5

u/deserter8626 May 21 '26

Also childfree, but I have 6 year old twin nephews to bring me back down to earth :)

4

u/baselineRipple May 23 '26

Omg, enjoy all of that. My twin nephews just turned 24. Watching twins grow up is the best. I enjoyed all the time I spent with them when they were that age. One time I remember them sitting in a tree stand together, belly laughing about something, and my SIL leaned over and said, "Sometimes I'm a little jealous I wasn't born with my best friend." Legit lol they are the best of friends and it has been so fun to see them grow up into the good men they are now.

That said, they were the last two nails in the coffin of my ever wanting my own kids. I love them. I would still, to this day, take a bullet for either of them. But they were what cemented to me that I did not want to be a mother. I'm much better suited as a feral, hippie aunt 😂

3

u/ManintheMT May 21 '26

I wish I hadn't opened this post, just wanted to see a family deer!

76

u/Hugh_Jazz12 May 20 '26

That motherfucker >:(

97

u/dragoonjustice May 20 '26

It's how he became a dad yeah

3

u/DauntingShit May 21 '26

I dont know what you did. But dads coming down and hes PISSED.

2

u/MayorAg May 20 '26

Probably the primary reason. Won’t be much mother fucking with OC around.

37

u/SaidTheSnail May 20 '26

If this is serious, I’m sorry my dude.

44

u/Xyno94 May 20 '26

Yea.. I asked about a year ago. I made it… but fuck it was not easy at all. I’m still check to check

60

u/dcizz May 20 '26

hey brother or sister i was in the same boat 4 years ago, i was homeless and begged my mom to let me stay on her couch until i could find work and because her boyfriend also lived with her it was a solid nope. it means we are strong enough to endure even when all seems hopeless and it is inoossible! i got my own place now, my own car, and a decent credit score! just gotta keep on using whatever you can as motivation to not give up (mine was anger for choosing a boyfriend over her creation) and youll make it! i believe in you!

41

u/ilovemusic19 May 20 '26

Give her the same energy, when she asks to say with you remind her how selfish she was before by leaving you homeless and choosing her jerk bf over you.

14

u/StrainAcceptable May 21 '26

Interestingly, the ones who weren’t there for you as a kid/young adult are also the ones who expect you to take care of them when they are old. It doesn’t work that way.

3

u/Xyno94 May 21 '26

Thank you friend. Yeah I was the oldest child(a bro) and I definitely had a hard time learning the ropes of “life”. My siblings saw all the mistakes I made and just said “nope, not doing that”. Which I’m happy about for them but I definitely got treated worse than they did. My parents even flat out admitted it when I turned 25.

Dunno where I’d be if I do move back in with dad but I’m happy to say I’m making it out here without him. Mostly… he still hooks me up with a cheap phone bill from his family plan lmfao

1

u/Impossible_Fold_73 May 21 '26

I don't know how things work where you're at but in my country the government can force you to care for her when she's older unless you take her name off your documents. Not sure if this even would be a problem for you but it's something to think about

1

u/Alidre82 May 22 '26

I love using spite as motivation! 👏🏻

29

u/moogle2468 May 20 '26

I’m just a random internet stranger but im wishing you well and for better times ahead. I’ve had to grow up without the safety net of parental support too and it is rough. But you have got this and you should be proud of yourself.

3

u/Powerful-Ad7330 May 21 '26

It breaks my heart that your parents are treating you this way. No doubt it’ll make you stronger but kids should be able to count on their parents when times are tough. I wish you well!

109

u/Relentless-Ronin May 20 '26

Showed this to my mom, she said get the fuck out of here literally and figuratively. Oh well, back to my 9-5.

14

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 20 '26

The strawberries are our undoing.

5

u/UnableInvestment8753 May 21 '26

I wonder if I can send my kids to live in these people’s backyard. They like strawberries. If the wifi works back there they would be all set.

3

u/Pickledleprechaun May 20 '26

I hand feed me strawberries.

4

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 20 '26

Me too. Other people feeding me is just . . . awkward.

3

u/TripleHachi May 20 '26

Damn, even the forest critters aren't safe from inflation

2

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 20 '26

Snow White is even outsourcing her animal friends to China these days.

Fuck the Monarchy.

3

u/funnyfaceking May 20 '26

Did you see that backyard? Why would anyone leave?

3

u/Mxysptlik May 21 '26

Yeah, I need to talk to my wife about her strawberry feeding duties. She's been slacking

5

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 21 '26

Psh. You KNOW the feeding is for you to do, friend.

Buy your wife some strawberries and feed her, or she will find someone who will.

(Unless she's allergic. Then pick something else to feed her. Not meat. Meat is weird.)

3

u/GaeloneForYouSir May 21 '26

Damn it! Your comment made me spit my coffee out. Nobody can afford to waste food in this economy!

3

u/Texan2020katza May 21 '26

Have you priced strawberries and apples lately?

Plus private security and a gated community?

2

u/Aleashed May 20 '26

That deer eats better than most of us

1

u/Knocksveal May 20 '26

Yep, got replaced by AI out there.

0

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 20 '26

Nobody ever talks about how Kyle Reese's parents lost their jobs and ended up living in the sewers of LA, but now we're seeing it live.

It was actually super boring at first, which is why there are no Terminator prequels.

1

u/Jaded66671 May 21 '26

I thought for sure you were going to imply they were eating venison for dinner

1

u/darth_dork May 21 '26

Truer words and all that..

1

u/Thelazyzoologist May 21 '26

Cam someone rehome me and feed me strawberries please. I'm tidy

1

u/kiddrekt May 21 '26

Swiggedy swooty

1

u/The_ElitePanther45 May 21 '26

You know i've never moved out, and i feel bad and like a looser at 29......then I look at the guy who's forcing himself to stay with his girl because he dosent make enough or the guy working 3 jobs and sleeping for 3 hours.

Then I realise I skipped the trap

1

u/C_Hawk14 May 21 '26

In this economy we can't afford to have enough frames for people to read at a normal pace either lol

1

u/Pretty-Pineapple-869 May 22 '26

Got to be careful, though. She might bring ticks into the home that carry Lyme disease.

2

u/TemporaryWasabi4493 May 27 '26

That was my first thought

1

u/Far_Example_9150 May 23 '26

Those are some nice strawberries too!

1

u/Sweet-Economics-5553 May 23 '26

Can I move in too? I want to be handfed strawberries.

1

u/MarryMeMongo May 27 '26

I was thinking, damn, who can afford to give a pack of strawberries and an apple in this economy? They must love her. A LOT.

-1

u/Rocket-Glide May 20 '26

That’s a delicious looking doe

-1

u/Historical_Dot_892 May 21 '26

In this economy I’d be eating deer meat for a while

1

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 21 '26

See, that's why everyone with boomer parents is no contact.

/jk

1

u/Radiant_Vanilla_4710 May 21 '26

To be real. I am a no contact mom of my 30 yr daughter. To this day I sit here clueless. But in her eyes I did something and I have to respect her decision and how she feels. I just wait to the day she reaches out. I am 62 and getting old. Life is not always bright.

2

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 21 '26

I'm in my 40s and no contact with my family -  it would be just my mother, but the generational trauma reached her siblings, and none can be trusted not to pass info or do the same shit.

I tried for 20+ years to address the issue before I gave up. She always gaslit, sidestepped hard questions, and denied things I had actual witnesses to.

My healing has gone a lot faster while not trying to defend my progress from a woman who took my need to heal personally after ignoring decades of cries for help and denying anything she did or ignored could POSSIBLY have damaged me, because it was all done while she loved me.

And that's all i have to say on that.

1

u/Radiant_Vanilla_4710 May 21 '26

I’m so very sorry for this. Everyone has their stories and their life. I very well know I wasn’t perfect and I certainly would hear what she has to say and take accountability. Please take care of yourself. We are all just trying to survive.

1

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 21 '26

My point is more I trust kids who choose to go no contact on the character of their families.

My suggestion to patents whose children are no contact, if you want to speak with them again, is to start counselling.

If you don't do any work, they will have no incentive to try to speak with you ever again. Seriously. There are free online groups, online therapists, and many, many, many articles about why this happens.

IMHO.....most parents don't do the work to fix it. And their complaints sound like ex husband's shocked by divorce papers.

1

u/Radiant_Vanilla_4710 May 21 '26

I’ve reached out to her about counseling. We did counseling when I went through divorce and when their dad went silent. Very aware of therapy. Did it for years. I think it’s time for me to start back on my own. She also suffers from some mental illness confirmed by psychiatrists. I miss her. I will finish off because this triggers me and maybe I should have kept quiet and mourned in peace. Some days I just can’t dig myself out of the darkness. Thank you though for giving a different point of view. I have sent her letters and stopped at her house. To no avail. Good luck to you.

1

u/Ruby_Solitaire May 21 '26

Mental illness is hereditary or environmental.

Patents need to own their shit. Fuck.

Blocked.
