Thats so true. I have a vivid memory of walking to a dunkin donuts with my cousins when we were maybe 10. My cousins all got a donut, but I didnt have any money to buy anything. When the worker asked what I wanted, I declined and told her I didnt have any cash. She smiled and gave me a donut anyway.
It was a 90 cent donut but a core memory for me that I still remember and occasionally think about nearly 30 years later. Wild how such a small gesture can have such an impact on someone.
