Wholesome Moments I left my yoga mat in my locker after class yesterday morning and asked my husband to get it during his workout last night. He said the lock combo I gave him didn't work. UGH What a freaking liar 🄰

These are the things that keep a relationship solid

When I was a cable tech my husband would track my phone…to leave flowers or a candy bar 🄹

u/Brahminmeat 6h ago

He was subtly reminding you that he’s tracking your every move šŸ‘ļø

My best friend/roommate and I would track each other's phones so we could have food/drinks ready when they'd get home from work. I miss Google Latitude.

The yoga studio has hall lockers. I'll take a pic after my class before people start accusing me of AI šŸ˜„

Ok so this sub doesn't allow of pic attachments in the comments.

But anyways, to address some questions- Why did I want my yoga mat back? Because as anyone with a yoga mat would tell you, if you don't clean it after you get sweat on it, it starts to SMELL. Turns out, my husband cleaned it for me with the mat spray they have in the studio and left a note for me to find, just to brighten up my morning :)

It's corny, I know. But. When he used to telework, his schedule was more flexible (no pun intended) and he used to do yoga with me. He'd walk into class and set up next to me and pretend we were strangers and hit on me.

His go to line would be "hey beautiful, you come here often? šŸ˜" while our butts would be in the air while stretching or doing downward dog lol

25

u/hand_ 5h ago

I'm glad you clarified that he actually did the thing you had wanted to do once you got the yoga mat cuz I would have been fuming if all he did was leave a note, sweet and adorable or no lol

5

u/Geig3r 4h ago

I like your husband's style. Assuming he likes it when you call him big papa?

1

That’s awesome! Small gestures like this are actually huge. And I don’t think that’s corny! Super cutešŸ’•

OP wanted to clean their yoga mat that they forgot to bring home, her husband did it with cleaning spray at the gym and then left the note.

Redditors don’t believe anything.

I don’t get this post at all. She asked him to do something, he doesn’t do it for her and lies about why, and then leaves a love note proving that he could have done it.

16

u/ConcentricCow 5h ago

He didn't do what was asked but if you read what OP replied with you know he fixed the problem she was trying to fix. She wanted the yoga mat so that she could clean it before her next class and it not get stanky over night. The husband, knowing the intended result was a clean yoga mat and not necessarily a yoga mat at home, went to the studio and cleaned the mat himself at the studio. He then returned the mat to the locker and left a cute note. Now his wife will have a clean mat at the studio and wont have to clean it herself and then carry it back to the studio.

The husband gets cheeky and tells a white lie about not being able to open the locker the wife has a slight surprise and hopefully better morning from the little prank after realizing she has a super clean mat and a cute note from their husband. I'd assume this level of cheekiness is acceptable if not expected as the wife has chosen to stay with the husband. Its not hard to assume they enjoy this small, low stakes game of leaving loving mementos around for each other so that they think of the other throughout their days.

13

u/Rpark888 4h ago

UM. excuse me, but...

HOW DARE YOU come in here with your natural and rightful logic and inductive reasoning and correctly assume that my husband and I love each other?????

šŸ˜… fr though thanks, some people just find it easier to be miserable and bring shade into others' light..

2

u/ConcentricCow 3h ago

Hahaha. Okay this made me laugh. Definitely a had me in the first half situation. Lol.

15

u/Berry-Bakes 5h ago

Holy hell, some of you people sound absolutely miserable in your lives, picking everything apart to get some negativity out, to fill your life with. She wrote that she wanted to clean it, but her husband also did that for her, while trying to tease her and pull a little innocent prank. May you let in some rays of sunshine in your lives, damn.

Just a guess if he couldn't normally get access. If he explained what he was going to do to the person in charge I don't think they would have stopped him most likely they would have helped.

33

u/Lexi_Banner 5h ago

I'm glad you like it, but any partner of mine tracking my phone would skeeze me out entirely.

52

u/Cam_e_ron 4h ago

as long as it goes both ways, it doesn't seem too weird to me. Its really not much different than snap maps and loads of people use that.

25

u/Liberteabelle1 4h ago

My BF both can track each other. It’s convenient and neither of us cares if the other sees where we are.

29

u/guyseriously 3h ago

I know what you meant but I quickly read this as both of your boyfriends can track each other lmao.

2

u/Lexi_Banner 4h ago

I don't willingly use any tracking type services (and fucked if I'd ever use snap maps), and would never share or allow anyone to find my location. And I don't want to be able to track my partner, either. If I want someone to come to where I am, I will contact them and give them my location. And if I want to go to my partner's location, I will contact them and ask for it.

Again, it's fine if you think differently. But when I am out and about, I would find it incredibly disturbing and invasive if my partner looked up my location and just showed up, or if they started asking why I went to X place before I went to Y place. Like, I'm a full grown adult, and I've been running loose since I was like, ten. Not even my mother would hunt me down to see what I was doing, the fuck are you trying to pull by tracking me now?

9

u/Cam_e_ron 4h ago

Fully understand that. I guess I just never have felt weirded out that some people know where I am. In my head, if someone wanted that info for nefarious purposes, they likely already know where I live/work anyways.

5

u/AnxietyPretend5215 4h ago

I feel like it's just a case by case basis type thing.

If you already have a solid relationship with someone where foundational trust has been established it's just a convenience plus safety tool.

Outside of that, whether it's family or romantic relationships, it's frequently a mechanism for control and manipulation.

For me, I just don't like giving all of these details to Life360 and other services like them. If it's free, you're the product somehow.

6

u/Cam_e_ron 4h ago

Yup I agree. I also agree more people should be aware of the data that gets collected by companies like life360. They 100% sell information to advertisers based on the places you go and how often.

2

u/sobrique 3h ago

Like so many things it's a matter of (informed and free) consent being the difference between 'good' and 'awful'.

1

u/Lexi_Banner 2h ago

it's frequently a mechanism for control and manipulation.

And consider this: it might start out fun and innocent, and everyone is happy, and how nice that you could be found in an emergency situation, should the need arise. But the moment that changes and the relationship sours, the people who can track your location can use it against you.

Before the days of easy phone tracking, I had a partner that questioned me if I took three minutes "longer than usual" to get home from work, and would interrogate me about where I went if I went out shopping (and would call/text constantly). The thought of people like him being able to track the exact location of their partner's phones at any given moment makes me fucking sick with dread. It is absolutely a dangerous tool to give to someone, and I don't think there's a single person I would trust to give it to, ever.

For me, I just don't like giving all of these details to Life360 and other services like them. If it's free, you're the product somehow.

This is the another huge factor in what I will and won't allow to track me. There are lots of things I cannot control (and likely a ton of trackers I don't know are following me online, even with being vigilant), but how so many people just willingly giving up that information boggles my brain.

Growing up as a latchkey kid with tons of independence from a very early age, the idea that people and companies can silently follow along with your every move makes my skin crawl.

2

u/sobrique 3h ago

I think it's as simple as informed and free consent.

Nothing wrong with consenting to someone you trust being able to find your location. (Persistently or temporarily - e.g. I might enable 'track my location' when on holiday or something just to make it a bit easier to meet up, then turn it off again for 'normal life')

Nothing wrong with deciding 'nah, ask me each time'.

Everything wrong with overriding that consent and doing it anyway.

2

u/No_Strike718 1h ago

I use find friends before I send a text to my husband to make sure he’s not driving. Because I know if I send one and he’s driving he’ll pick up. He has it to read out loud but that’s still distractive driving. Other than that I don’t use it. Not everyone who has a way to track their partner has nefarious intentions but I wonder how many partners who are against them have nefarious intentions?

•

u/uoftstudent33 21m ago

To each her own. I find it super convenient to be able to look at my husband’s location so I can see where he is without bugging him or waiting for a response. Neither of us have anything to hide. When I was on maternity leave it was nice to see if he’d left work already and would be home soon without messaging him because I didn’t want him to feel pressured to rush home. Or the other day he had a really long and stressful day in court (as an attorney). I didn’t want to potentially distract him by texting so I just waited until he was no longer at the courthouse. I also like to see where he is when we’re meeting because he’s usually early and I’m often running late—it helps me plan better without sending a bunch of messages.

I also share my location with my little sister. She travels a lot so it’s fun to see where she is. And she’s told me in the past that sometimes she checks my location to make sure I’m not at work before she calls.

I do get that it might be different if you’ve experienced domestic violence in the past or aren’t currently in a healthy relationship. Or if you feel the need to conceal your whereabouts from your partner or whoever for some reason.

1

u/NoZucchini595 2h ago

We’ve been married over two decades and he has never asked me where I’m going, who I’m going with, how long I’ll be there, what I’m wearing, etc..

2

u/Lexi_Banner 2h ago

Great! In your specific instance, that's perfect, and it's working fine.

But that isn't how it always is, and it's fair to have that dialogue, too.

u/Triumphail 2h ago

Me and my boyfriend our in a long distance relationship, and I have pretty bad anxiety just in general. I’ve told him that I worry about him a lot, and sometimes when I wouldn’t hear from him (usually because he’s driving or taking a nap) even though I knew he was fine I would tend to spiral pretty quickly. So we let each other see our locations to assure one another that everything is fine. We also made sure that both of us were comfortable with it, since I know it can be used for controlling behavior, neither of us have ever used it because we think the other is doing something behind our back.

2

u/NoZucchini595 2h ago

As a female cable tech it was actually something I would make sure to mention to the creepy guys whose homes I had to enter

1

u/Lexi_Banner 2h ago

I mean...you could just tell them, and they wouldn't know if it was the truth or not.

Again, if it works for you, fine. I just don't see the benefits outweighing the creep factor, personally.

Makes me think of the joke my dad and me would play on my mom. She would call say how long and we would say were stuck in traffic or something and well be a while. 5 min later were home lol

17

u/Cheezeball25 3h ago

Lol that reminds me of how many times I'd go out with my dad, and inevitably my mom would call us concerned about what was taking so long. And she somehow would always call when we were about 2 minutes from the house, right as we were entering the neighborhood. It was funny how well timed it was.

There is literally one negative comment that has been ridiculed. It's a cute gesture. We (nearly) all like it.

16

u/ZeroAmusement 6h ago

I'm so confused. She asked him to get the mat, but he didn't, lied about the combination code being wrong (would cause confusion) but left a note so it's ok?

Why do you like it?

6

u/Strange_Temporary515 1h ago

People who like this probably think that romance movies are normal. You could leave the note without the weirdness of lying and not helping her out lol

3

u/WriterV 3h ago

'cause it's cute, and simple.

And before you fire off with "LYING ISN'T CUTE!!!", please grow the fuck up. It's not about the lying, it's about the nuance. OP clearly loved it, and her husband clearly knew her well enough to know she'd love it, which is why he did this. That's thoughtfulness, and demonstrates true love between these two.

If you somehow didn't catch that, then you're gonna need some more life experience before you're ready to be in a relationship yourself.

8

u/ZeroAmusement 1h ago

The context here was that OP wanted to take it home to clean it. He cleaned it for her (OP said in another comment) so he didn't need to take it back. Without that context it's pretty weird but I guess I need to tell the person I'm married to that I need more life experience and I'm not ready. :P

So he didn't get you your yoga mat? He left it at the gym after putting a note on it, claiming he couldn't get it because the lock, so you had to go get it and see his cheeky note? Am I understanding this right? I guess it's kind of cute to leave a cheeky note but weird that he didn't bring home the thing you asked for to do it.

I asked for him to bring it back so I could clean it.

He cleaned it for me and left a corny note of a pickup line he used to say to me when we used to do yoga together, pretending we were strangers in class.

He lied about the code so I would go back today and find it.

If he brought back the clean mat, then I'd have no reason to go to the locker and find the corny note.

We have a 7 year old and he coaches a lot after work so we don't get a lot of date nights in during the week. So little reminders like this are thoughtful to me.

oh the cleaning thing makes it all make sense!

Same! What doesn't make sense to me is how this makes sense to everyone else without them knowing about the cleaning part!

I low key have irrational dislike for the people who think it made sense without that piece and are being pompous about it in the comments lol

It's a little hard to believe this post when the account that posted it has bot levels of karma associated with it.

He is definitely a keeper. Queen keep treating him like a King and you can expect him to continue with beautiful moments like this. Ugh so gross. 🤮 ā¤ļø šŸ˜

Do you have a kid or kids? I remember someone posting a letter about parents fighting and how it’s normal for them to have disagreements. His sign off on the letter had a similar drawing a large face and ball cap, and a small one for the son. Just curious!

As per rules of reddit: You should divorce him! He's a lying bastard and liars never learn! If he lies about these small things then what else wouldn't he lie about?!

Jokes aside, what a cute little surprise. Enjoy the hell out of that relationship!

u/rchllwr 1h ago

Oh dang. I guess I’m a bitch because this would’ve annoyed me lol. Like I asked you to get the mat so why didn’t you get it?? If you wanted to be cute and leave a note you could’ve left the note in the locker anyway

Holy shit redditors are fucking stupid. there was nothing hard to understand about this.

People need to leave their keyboards and interact with humans outside.
