I have noticed this trend of using masculine pronouns, even when the post title or caption makes it known it's a girl, for a couple years now. There have been other posts where "he" and "him" are used on children that are obviously girls. The clearest example was a post of a dad who had his daughter on the wakeboard with him and she fell off but he caught her; she's wearing a ponytail and a pink diaper and the commenters are still calling her a boy.
It's a really interesting and annoying form of sexism but not that big of a deal in the long run.
The number of people who referred to my baby as "he", even when she was wearing all pink and purple frilly clothes, with her hair tied up on her head, is surprising.Â
I get that babies can easily look either gender, but sometimes the clothing is obnoxiously obviously gendered and people still somehow don't pay enough attention and default to "he".Â
Hey relax before you project some woke stuff and "sexism"
Just a friendly reminder that
1) we are from different cultures and a very short hair is confusing for some
2) not everyone is native english-speaker. My language is so non-sexist that we don't differentiate we have a non gender-specific "h/she" only one form for humans and thats it.
