Question Anyone here play Alchemy?

I've been grinding a lot of standard and brawl but the meta gets a little boring once you reach diamond. I just saw that Alchemy is on a 2 year rotation and the new cards at least offer some entertainment value. Anyone have any tips and which sets have the best Alchemy cards? I know bloomburrow rotates pretty soon.

I actually specifically avoid it as much as possible

Haven't played alchemy in a while, but off the top of my head EoE has some strong alchemy cards.

We (Alchemy players) have our own subreddit - r/MagicAlchemy - so you might like to try asking there. I do semi-regular posts about the Alchemy BO1 meta there - I haven't done one super-recently but you'll find things if you scroll through the feed. If I am remembering correctly, you might also find some other useful links in a pinned post.

Vivee scared me away from alchemy. But otherwise I love it. The two year rotation is significantly better than the 3 year rotation of current standard.

The alchemy specific cards are interesting puzzles to build around and the format is rarely solved making it a lot of fun to tinker in.

It feels like FNM.

Altheriax on youtube showcases alchemy decks on occasion, last week he had a video on a elf combo deck that i tried a little bit and it's pretty sweet.

Yes. If you're slightly above average in terms of skill and you're playing a fast deck then the Bo1 Alchemy event is basically free gems.

whenever I think of an alchemy card I’d want to build around, it’s not even in the format anymore

I do, started playing recently because the slow rotation in standard and massive card pool has really turned me off from it. I played the mono blue subtlety deck before it got (effectively) banned, then moved on to Thor izzet combo, had a blast with both decks.

maybe once a month I play a few games, I have a temur Exhaust deck that I built just because I like [[Audacious Knuckleblade]]

I think I would play it more if eternal formats have their own paper versions. Sometimes i dip into it, but I mostly play Standard.

I did play Eternal DCG for a while which was designed to basically be MTG Alchemy from the beginning.

Very sad Eternal is on life support. Game is very well designed and the digital first nature really works in a way that Alchemy just doesn't for me in MTG. I also think the tweaks to the mana system strike a good balance where some modern games have just ditched it.

Yes!!! More fun than standard, and I’m an online only player so I don’t give a fuck that it’s not playable on paper.
