Recommend me a bag Help finding a small messenger

Hello everyone. After my Herschel backpack finally fell apart after a decade, I’m looking to get a nice messenger (rather than a backpack, because I don’t need the space).

I don’t really even carry a laptop, maybe once in a blue moon I’ll take my MBP 14”. Mainly, I just carry a lot (100–200) of papers (8.5”x11”) for readings and articles, books, and notebooks for writing. Maybe a water bottle, umbrella, and some small knickknacks and snacks.

I really want to go very light and minimal. So far, I’m leaning toward the Aer Pro Brief, Waterfield Shinjuku Messenger Bag, or Nutsac Satchel 13.

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

I have the Tom Bihn Makers bag but some people don't like how the lid doesn't really cover the edges

Love my satchel 13, but if carrying a waterbottle is a daily thing this might not be the best option (unless you use a very sleek one).
